Emerald hack: Pokémon Team Rocket Edition: Dragonsden Version - Kanto/Sevii/Johto | Next release: DLC (season 4)

is there a way I can edit EVs?
Yes, using the EVs berries, you can buy it in Johto HQ after 5th badge.
You can obtain some more before, in the bug catcher of Pewter City sidequest, and in the Johto berry trees since your first step in the region.
I was waiting for this release to finally start the game!

I'm curious though, why did you port all the content to Emerald from Fire Red?
When only had Kanto and Sevii in Spanish, it was in Fire red binary.

I released Johto like that too, but the game started to show bugs and a lot and limitations, so I decided to port all the project to decomp, and in decomp, counting that I was planning to do Hoenn, pokeemerald expansion was the best option.

If I had kept the binary system, I could never have made it this far (DLC and Hoenn in spanish). In the best case, I would have uploaded a Hoenn arc, with less content, limitations and bugs.
I didn't, no, and will need to learn how to do that.

Do you have any tips?
There are some tips in the pinned comment:

1) Go to some patch web like this one: https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/ (creator mode disabled).
2) In ROM file select the "1986 - Pokemon Emerald (U)(TrashMan)" version.
3) In Patch file select the UPs file contained the ZIP.
4) Apply patch

Smashed it man, thank you!

Worked first time

Thank you very much for this incredible work Dragonsden !

Question about the ability "Brutal Strengh" shared by a lot of Pokemon : What dos this ability do ? I was not able to find this one on bulbapedia si I assume it may be an original ability or a different translation of an existing ability.
I am answering to myself but i just though that it might be another name fo "Sheer Force", if someone wants to confirm...

I see. Congratz on the migration and the release. I'm sure it must have been tough. Thanks for all the effort!

In my humble opinion, I think you should change the FR tag with Emerald to avoid some degree of confusion.

How to play it
This has been mentioned, but you roughly need to do 4 things, assuming you're on PC. (I'm unfamiliar with mobile devices, but it is similar; look to tutorials for details for each device).

1.) The Team Rocket Edition (hereafter referred to as TRE) .ups patch file: you get this from the trailer video on Dragonsden's youtube channel, which he linked to in his post a little earlier (which should also be at the top of this thread's opening post). Once you've downloaded it, unzip the downloaded file with a program like WINRAR or 7ZIP (or a mobile equivalent) and locate the .ups file. (If you can't see file extensions, find a tutorial for your device to learn how to make file extensions visible.)

2.) You need a ROM of Pokemon Emerald. Dragonsden has mentioned the exact ROM in his post above yours. You'll need to get that on your own. (Google, as tends to be most of the time, will help.) That's about as far as I can help with this step.

3.) Once you have the Pokemon Emerald ROM and the TRE UPS patch, go to the website indicated in Dragonsden's aforementioned post above yours. Place each file in the corresponding section of that page and download the new file when prompted. This will be the TRE game.

4.) You'll need a GBA emulator to play the game on. For PC, mGBA is typically recommended. (Others are either outdated or simple won't work/not recommended.) Once again, google 'mGBA emulator' to find it. (Again, I'm unsure of the recommended GBA emulator for each of the different mobile devices, but you can probably find that out via google for whichever device you're on.)

JOHTO RELEASE - 30th April 2025

Hi everyone.

I just released Johto Season, the links are at the youtube trailer (Pinned comment and description video).

I'm going to update the pokecomunnity post as well. That's all, here is the Johto Trailer.

Hope you enjoy Johto as Rocket Admin!
Whenever I try to patch the game on android it says "source ROM checksum mismatch". I tried different patchers and they say the GBA file isnt the right one. I'm using the team rocket GBA file that has all my data... Am I missing something? How what GBA file do I need to patch to play?

You need to use trashmans emerald version to patch.

You follow the instructions from my post, that I typed up for you, but using the tools that work on the iPhone. (So, for example, instead of WINRAR or 7ZIP, you search for and use whichever tool is needed to extract archive files on an iPhone.) The instructions mostly remain the same.

Those Mints are if you want/need to change an early-game Pokémon's Nature, like Zubat's. There's a sidequest once you've reached Pewter City that'll give you access to a semi-renewable source of Mints. And about halfway or so into Johto's story, you'll have the means of purchasing Mints outright.

So no need to save or hoard them. Indeed, any Mints you don't see yourself using can be sold for some quick cash in the early and midgames of Kanto.

When patching patch files to a ROM, you almost always need to patch to a clean (which means unedited/unpatched) ROM. This includes when new updates of an existing romhack is released. The now-old patched game should generally just be discarded.

Wait so in the Johto version, is it restarting everyone's progress?

Hi everyone, the Ephemeris mode isn't working for me. If I click on "Ephemeris Rocket" and then "Jhoto", it brings me back on the main page and I can only select "New Game", "Options" and "Ephemeris Rocket". If I click on "New Game", it makes me start from scratch. What have I done wrong?
