Name courtesy of Mew3 of Mew3.inc

Pok?mon Acanthite is the first of 2 G/S/C era remakes I will be doing. It is a collaboration between me, Matt (from mew3 forums) and Mew3 himself, along with ideas from King Shuckle. Notice you happen to be playing as the rival, which will be directing the story in a bigger way than the original GS.

In the following screenshots, ignore the lack of people. Field sprites need working on.

Let's take a look at the phases of the day. As well as Morning, Day and Nite, there's Evening too.

OMG weather. It controls wild Pok?mon appearances in the same way as time.

Ye olde test menu system. Plus prototype Goldenrod before it was made half decent.

Menu as it is at the moment. Ignore the time of day, I'd forgotten to set up an event to trigger the clock :D

As with FRLG, there's a new region. Unlike FRLG, this is a proper new region, which will have its own gyms and towns and stuff. None of that Sevii Island crap. This is going to be the place for picking up those loveable Hoenn 'Mons, plus an interesting new way to catch a nice Legendary Pok?mon.

That's Tyridan Peak. Nice place. Part of the Elemental Triangle.

A few maps for show. Some have undergone a few tiny cosmetic changes (ie. making the grass patterns a little more random) since these shots were taken.

    Enjoy

I might point out that anyone who knows how to use RMXP's Ruby is welcome to help out with the battle system x.x

OMG *puts in great fan games list*...I'd liked to help but sadly RMXP(don't freak out I wanted to use RMXP) says I don't have the RGSS RTP installed. But I will help when I can I could do beta testing and Ruby Scripting(once I learn it).

looks nice but is the screen little like that when you play? in rmxp f5 does't work.

Alt + Enter for full screen.

I just took a few more map shots because I wanted to. I just finished the Lake of Rage 20 minutes ago or so. Very irritatingly difficult due to the maze of headbutt trees x.x

Note that cut trees are to be events so you don't see them here.

I think everything looks great! Nice work Fang! I did give him some ideas but I can't say what they are because I want it to be a surprise. The title of the game is wicked awesome! I think the night mode looks good....Nice Work!

    cool screens!!!
and i want to know how you did the menu?
this is mine: (as you can see, it displays the hero name)

Woah. Nice! Judging by the posts, you're getting an awful lot done in a short time. Good luck on the rest.

I have seen this before at mew3inc I asked some questions but you never replied. Anyway great screens but I agree with DarkPegasus the night screen is a bit too blue.

I thought the blue looked just about right (don't forget, it needs to be completely set apart from the evening).

    More map shots.

Fangking you are making a remake right? Maybe, just a suggestion, you could add a house in example cherrygrove city, or atleast change something since this and all other johto remakes will look the same...:( anyway i like the night image :)

Well, I think Demonion makes a good point. Kyledove for instance is doing almost a complete remake of the region. Anyway, good to see so many updates.

Remake is the word. Remake. It's going to have the Crystal extras in Johto and such, but I'm not one for sticking extra buildings and stuff where they don't belong. Namely because there's not a lot of room in those towns. Anyway, if I wasted all my new stuff on Johto, then what about the new region :p

I will of course welcome any good ideas though if anyone's in the mood to suggest them :D

    Did this yesterday, Everlake City.

While I'm at it, here's a recently updated Olivine.

Amazing. Although the headbutt tree looks alot like ours..But I can't compare due to the smallness of the image.. You have some cool trees that look cool. Customs?

    Yup :D

    Nice isn't it....

    I'm misconstantuated x.x

EDIT: Cheers. The headbutt trees are from FRLG, though in FRLG they were little more than just trees. I used them here as they are narrower than the standard tree, thus suitable as the 5th Javiscone/headbutt tree. I haven't seen the ones from your project, so I have no way to compare.

The additional tree for Everlake City came from Emerald, fixed with the FRLG tree colour and given 2 variations of the base.

Ah ok. Do you have some of your tiles on a set? I have a strange obsession for tiles. Maybe in PT?
