Pokemon 666

Do you think that Pokemon 5th Generation or 6th Generation will have a Pokemon with a National Number of 666 or they will just skip to 667? It's like a Devil Pokemon or something. What do you think?

Correct me if i'm wrong (and I probably am) but what started the whole '666 is evil' thing was the bible, wasn't it?
Pokemon is a game that knows no religion, so i'm positive they'll have a Pokemon No. 666.

1) 666 pokemon would mean we'd have an added 173 pokemon, which I highly doubt would happen since the most they've introduced was the original 150 in Kanto followed by 120-135 in Hoenn.
2) It would be cool if it ended at 666 but I highly doubt it would, Nintendo and Game Freak would receive some serious heat from censors in the US and Europe

Number of the Beast, says Revelation. However, all that was said was to the effect of "Let a wise person find the meaning of this number", so anything beyond it's mention and association is pretty much Wild Mass Guessing.

I think the Dex will end closer to 600, anyway. I doubt it'll get to 666 this gen.

No way it'd reach that, not even if they use a completely new dex. Also, on topic, 666 is a mistranslation. If people complained, they could just say "But that isn't the REAL number".

Nothing inherently wrong with the number 666. It's 616 that's the true number of the beast (not to mention a reasonably attainable number for a GenV pokemon). >_>

Either way, I don't see why they'd skip it. I'd rather the national dex be consistent than appease to the religious zealots that won't play the game to begin with because they're afraid that Kadabra is Satan incarnate. XD

Well, though some people shy away from it like a "devil number" I think it's just as silly as buildings not having a labeled floor #13 or manufacturers skipping from 12 to 14, even though there -obviously- was a 13. Just my thoughts though... I really don't think that there will be that many pokies released in Gen V though. Possibly we'll make it there if there's a Gen VI but.. who knows?

I was literally about to make this point! Twas a mistranslation. A hilarious story about the number 666 is that a Moscow bus service no.666 was changed due to public outcry. That's right, they changed it to 616! :cer_tongue:

I doubt #666 will be skipped, though I'd feel bad for w/e Pokémon were to land on that spot, mistranslation or not. xD But yea, if you look at the Pokédex as a tool for science, they definitely can't let it be affected by things like religion.

On a side note, as far as superstitions go, Tetraphobia has given us Gabite, the Pokémon of Death. ^^

I was going to say this too.

Either way, 666, 616, it's too messy to avoid a number with a religious background. They kept 13, didn't they? That has some religious backgrounds, sure, but it's a common enough phobia that some taller buildings skip the 13th floor altogether (but it's not like you could have a building that would reach the 666th/616th floor).

There's no point in skipping it, Pokemon #666 will merely be subject to tons of stupid hell-themed fan art.

well, if you notice, giratina is the 666 pokemon. he has six red spikes, six legs, and six gold things around his neck. he was banished to the distortion world for being renegade. it's kinda like hell in the distortion world. hell is an appropriate place for cyrus to be stuck in. plus he's kinda scary 0.o

I think it would be nicer if it ended as 669. :classic: Haha just kidding, but I highly doubt they are going to be adding 120+ new Pokémon, remember, it's not the quantity but the quality that matters.
