Depends on your version. If you got Gold just as it came out you could trade Pokemon back to R/B/Y with Items (and when they traded back, it still held the item). I can remember trading my Kabutops to my friend's Silver version and it held an item (a berry or something).

When I got my Gold it was like months after release and I couldn't trade Gold Pokemon holding an item.
 
I don't know if it's meant to be so but when you find suicune it can use roar but does it go wild then or is your chance forever lost
 
I've gotten some info from people trying to trade second gen games with Pokemon Brown. Mostly, you can trade Pokemon Brown Pokemon TO Second gen games, but you can't trade from Second gen to Pokemon Brown.

This isn't an issue anymore. You are now able to trade Pokemon from Second Gen Games! The NPC will let you know which ones you can trade over and which ones you can't. She will also give you a warning if you're trading a G/S/C Pokemon, telling you that it can screw up your game if you're not trading from Brown.

Wind, Wood, and Sound use Normal
Gas and Abnormal use Special
 
CBM, does Dark type use physical or special moves? because I thought I saw a post which said they are special moves, is there a possibility you can change this because Weavile has Metal Claw and stuff.
 
Hmm... Coolboyman, I've been thinking, and I think that once I've completed my PokéDex, I might write a walkthrough. Note that I'll take a while with my Dex and I've never written a walkthrough before, but I'll try my best.
EDIT: You know what? Screw the Dex, I'm gonna start writing a walkthrough now. I'm gonna play along a with a second save file so I can remember everything.
 
Just wanted to post here about my current thoughts about Brown. I'm doing a playthorugh right now, and I just got the Virus Scan and killed the Missingno Kanghaskan. I've beaten the original Brown, and I must say, the new Pokemon and updated text and maps look much better than what the original was. I do have a question though. In the older thread, I believe I remember you saying that this project was not over, as you had not added all of the sidequests in. So, is that true?
 
how do you get glaceon, leafeon, espeon, and umbreon
 
I'm starting a walkthrough now, and putting stuff about the new types and such, but I can't do those big fancy logos with notepad. Could someone do a PoKéMoN BROWN VERSION logo thing for me?
 
I just can't get it to work. I have a working rom and all, it just doesn't start! The emulator says "unsupported file size" when I try to run it.
 
Question: Is it possible to catch the Johto starters in this game without trading from any G/S/C/Prism game or WITHOUT cheating?

If so, where and what Route/Town?

OK! Everybody I have an announcement!

I have managed to get VBA LINK to WORK trading from Crystal to Brown. It's a little glitchy but it didn't ruin my game, so there you have it! VBA link DOES work!

Kudos to you KBM This is one amazing hack that will be worshipped for ever!

you get them in the game corner as a price pokemon, i think it is where is the 2nd gym.
