Yeah, with those repels the only pokemon you'll be running into are the ones in the shaking patches of grass. I'm not sure whether I mentioned this in that post you read, but try not to step into the patch of grass directly behind your character because it's blocked from view so you don't know whether it shook or not =P

Got 21 chaining Geodudes like you said.
Machop broke it. :(

Then if I try Machop chains they get broke by Larvitars.

Larvitars? Which route are you chaining in?
 
I have gotten a few shinies. Shellos,Togepi,Absol,Voltorb,and Magnemite with my highest chain being 61 when catching the shiny Togepi.

You can get Larvitar there? Oh I didn't know that! Mind you, I have Pearl version, so I wouldn't know...XD
 
Have you ever got a shiny with eggs? I learned how to do it with a glichtch, but I would prefer catching them. I never caught a shiny with chaining, but I do it exactly as I should (well , I think so). I never get chains higher than 20, what is wrong? ....help pls...

I was training in a cave against geodudes (for def ev's) and i came across and shiny zubat. I caught it and its my first shiny ever (without cheat codes in older games)!
 
ive chained 32 shinys on my diamond including porygons, tauros, absols, mighytentas, larvitars and others. my first ever was a voltorb
 
I tried to chain Growlithe, but it broke at 28. I searched for a ditto chain about 2 hours, but I wasnt able to find one.........ergh, what is wrong?

Ok I'm only on the second page of this thread so someone might have explained this, after 40 chain you get a 1/200 chance of shiny, now according to this guy getting 8 shinies in a chain of 117(I think) is impossible, he's not taking into account how many times the person reset the radar and plain old dumb luck.
With that guys logic my 3 shinies in a chain of 68 would be impossible as well but if it added 1 to the chain for every time the radar got reset my chain would have been 600+.

Now to the questions fro mthe topic creater
I've had 4 chains yield shinies
98spoink,3 shiny
68farfetc'd,2shiny
68buizel,3shiny
40somethingCubone,2 shiny

And for random wild shinies: I've seen 3 in pearl:
Starly:caught
Croagunk:got away
Quagsire:got away

And as far as action replay to get the shinies your hunting for, I have one but I don't use it for shinies because that just ruins the purpose of them being shiny, you can't get that feeling of accomplishment from a hack
