Ludicolo@Damp Rock/Leftovers
Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP, 76 Sp Atk, 180 Sp Def
-Rain Dance
-Leech Seed
-Hydro Pump/Surf
-Energy Ball/Hidden Power Electric

I used this on a number of rain dance teams, and it works like a charm, Energy Ball is for that annoying bastard Swampert, where as HP Electric stops Gyarados rampaging through the rain

That question should go in the other Sticky ShinyM.

~On Topic~

Wow, this brings back Anti vs Tortured memories...:P

I still like Swift Swim over Rain Dish. I have been using sets with both, and I just think the ability to perform a fast Leech Seed means you get that health recovery, while supporting a speed advantage and doing damage to the opponent. Toxic-Stalling Ludicolo would run Rain Dish I suppose:

Toxic
Protect / Rain Dance
Leech Seed / Rain Dance
Surf / Ice Beam

I just faced one of these last night, and it's VERY annoying to get rid of when it's recovering more than what a Seismic Toss can do to it from Blissey. He said it was for my Milotic, which crushed him a match beforehand. It was running Energy Ball, Leech Seed, Surf, and the last move I didn't see, but it wasn't protect. It could've been Ice Beam. A Specs Lucario Aura Sphere was barely 2hkoing I think, adding in Leftovers recovery.

Ludicolo's a nice tank if you can EV it right. It scares off many threats like Blissey (Leech Seed), bulky waters (Seed and E.Ball), and Dragons (Ice Beam). Even Gyarados has to watch it with HP Electric goin around.

Oh,I'm mentioned?I'm so flattered.Yes,it was Ice Beam.I could survive 2 hits from Aura Sphere from Max HP/Max Special Defense.Energy Ball,Surf and Ice Beam provide great coverage so it could be for sweeping on Ludicolo.

GO RAIN DISH!

Seriously, speed is overrated, especially on stall-based pokes like Ludi.

In your face T_S

EDIT: For those of us with poor ability to pick up jokes on the internet, I am joking around...but my point stands :P

I agree with Anti. About Ludicolo, not exactly on the speed thing. With Leech Seed AND Rain Dance, he just screams staller.

Sweeper Ludi is also really good, especially since special walls like Blissey and Snorlax will be reluctant to switch in due to the possibility of Leech Seed (Sya taught me the hard way T_T)

But yeah, Ludi is one of the best users of Leech Seed.

You really don't need Rain Dish + Leech Seed to call him a staller.. Ludicolo can be easily outstalled by Celebi, and is quite weak defensively. You could go with Swift Swim + Leech Seed for the fastest SubSeed in the game, which will annoy a ton of pokes. Consider even Damp Rock if you're planning on using this.

IMO Swift Swim > Rain Dish. Ludicolo doesn't want to SubSeed, it should be a fast sweeper with Rain Dance support, with Leech Seed to wear down walls.

If Ludicolo doesn't have Rain Dance and is trying to SubSeed, Breloom is infinitely superior due to Spore. Ludicolo also has low base speed, a real hindrance if trying to stall with SubSeed.

Ludicolo should run

Swift Swim

Rain Dance
Leech Seed
Attack move
Attack move

Rain Dish is very situational and does not help against sweepers like Salamence, while with Swift Swim Ludicolo poses a good threat to many pokemon who fail to outspeed it.
Without Swift Swim random sweepers are just going to switch in and scare Ludicolo off.

Since we're on the topic of Ludicolo, why not discuss surprise sets to deal with the stuff that counter Ludicolo? The biggest counters are probably Toxicroak and Tentacruel.

Dry Skin Toxicroak gains 12.5% every turn due to rain, and can come in on Rain Dance or Surf and threaten Ludicolo.

Tentacruel is a more stally counter, Liquid Ooze punishes Ludicolo for using Leech Seed, and it can set up Toxic Spikes at leisure whilst Ludicolo struggles to do damage. Tentacruel may carry Sludge Bomb.

I find myself in complete agreement with the above posters. The other counters to Ludicolo are Celebi ; Dragonite / Salamence (without Ice Beam) ; and Heracross. Blissey and Snorlax do get mention, but both of them hate Leech Seed. Credit goes to Smogon's DP Ludicolo analysis for this information. BTW, Anti-Pop mentioned this before, so this is pretty obvious to both the new players and the experienced players, even though they usually do know that if they are experienced.

BTW, Aquillae, how did you get the 12.5% info? From Smogon, or what? Anti is also correct on the Leech Seed statement. Go Ludicolo. xD. :]

I have a funny picture for this:

xD.

Ludicolo can only recover with Lefties and Leech Seed (and Leech Seed is nullified by Liquid Ooze pokemon and grassers, though many you won't be staying in on). I prefer Rain Dish just for the extra healing. I'm kind of a nut when it comes to healing.

Ludicolo's versatility seems to be underrated considering it can sweep or stall. Score one for Ludicolo.

Itachi, that pic has the worst photoshop job I've ever seen :0

Also, that sweeper set looks...really nasty. Is in run for your life! Lucky for me, I have a Tentacruel on my team :P

Hey, don't downplay seed.No one tries to use it on Grasers, of course, and Liquid Ooze is few & far between.

True, Rain Dish is really cool if you want to make a "Stall Ludicolo". actually I like to test: Toxic-Leach Seed-Protect+Lefties Combo... It seems good to me...

But Without the Rain Ludicolo it's preatty useless...

Hey, don't downplay seed.No one tries to use it on Grasers, of course, and Liquid Ooze is few & far between.

I'm not, but I AM saying that they stall its recovery, and in Liquid Oozing's case, they hurt its health.

And remember, while nobody uses it on grassers, they will switch in (especially since many of them can take Ice Beam).

I prefer Rain Dish myself, Leech Seed + Lefties + Toxic + Rain Dish + Protect = Death :/

Yup, I'll be trying that set in your tourny actually...

stall sets stink =/

i just like a bold ludicolo set with ice beam and seismic toss. never disappoints.

And remember, while nobody uses it on grassers, they will switch in (especially since many of them can take Ice Beam).

And if you Leech Seed a Liquid Ooze pokemon on its way in, it will hurt whatever you switch in until Tentacruel the Liquid Oozer switches out. 1/8 Steady damage is bad and with SS/Hail going, good luck stalling.
