anti, no offense, but i don't see the point in tricking macho brace. it's a moot choice of item when it has thunderwave. risking the chance of getting a choice item or an item bad for it in exchange for the opponents speed being lowered... eh.

Oh, but it works. Besides, usually it's a big, powerful physical sweeper coming in to beat it down anyways, it's always fun to steal their CB (though getting life orbs sucks) and slow them down. It can open up room for slower sweepers like Metagross to hit harder.

Maybe bad in theory, but Trick Macho Brace actually works. I actually use it in ADV and have tried it a bit on shoddy now with a good success rate.

EDIT: I usually don't run Twave on it BTW, probably why I like macho brace ;)

EDIT 2: Oh, I have tricked a macho brace onto a steelix before, that thing has a killer Gyro Ball. It does have a risk factor, no doubt. But hey, I lvoe risks, probably why I like gimmick sets like that lol

That's the point. Maybe it's just me, but I have a knack on playing Trick users to my advantage. That & Knock Off users. As soon as you Trick Brace onto Forrry, I will then mess you up with Gya, or a poke who benifits from the item you stole.

I don't trick directly after :P I usually set up reflect. However, CBing a Gyara would be fun if I weren't taunted first lol

It usually only works once, occasionally twice, but it sometimes can make a huge difference, and to me, that's worth it (because I like gimmicks like that ;))

Besides, Trickband/Trickspecs is done so much better by Zam, might as well do something that the springy and bouncy pig does well.

Magic Coat XDDDDDD

Damn you sims, that really screwed up my Metal Sound Heatran =[, Unfortunately it wont stop what Heatran is packing now Mwhahaahahahah !!

Both sets work.

Ive never tried Trick - Macho Brace, but it really could screw up incoming physical sweepers that rely on speed.

Theres also a Nice specs/Calm Mind set.

Grumpig@Choice Specs /Leftovers
Timid Nature
252 Sp.att / 220 speed / 38 HP
- Psychic
- Energy Ball / Grass Knot
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast / Calm mind

Looks nice, and has good coverage. Focus Blast could really wreck Weavile and T-Tar switch INS.

Calm mind w/ Leftovers and Focus Blast with specs.

Rest -Talk would also go nice on this guy IMO

Grumpig isn't all that bad. It works pretty well as a semi-offensive special wall that has enough sp.def/hp to be an effective on in the UU/BL enviornment.

Grumpig@leftovers

-Phychic
-Shadow Ball
-Calm mind
-Focus Blast
Calm Nature (+Sp.Def, -Atk)
252 sp.atk/252 sp. def

My personal set for Grumpig and I think it's as good as it gets. Calm mind boosts it's average special attack and it's powerful special defense. The main reason I believe Grumpig would leave the UU/BL enviornment to visit the Standards is because of it's typing. As a Psychic type it's the ideal counter for Standard Dark, Ghost and Psychic special sweepers; Alakazam, Gengar, Gardevoir and Starmie in particular. However, despite it's strategy to counter those pokemon, when it comes to the standard enviornment, walls with similar typing such as Bronzong, Dusknoir, Drifblim, Slowbro and Slowking just do it better so it better stay in borderline at best.

No it won't. Grumpig has horrible defense and speed. Weavile and Tyranitar outrun it and 1 Crunch/Night slash OHKOs it.

Notice the "switch ins" part of it.

You hit them on the switch, sicne they are going to come in to ruin your day and kill you, so you predict the switch and fight back. and Grumpig has a far higher speed base than TTar...and it can always set up refelct as well to avoid a OHKO.

As Good as it gets? Really? Grumpig can actually fill some pretty good roles. My set allows him to be a full-fledge wall, resting to restore him to full strength. Charge Beam to boost himself up, plus Psychic+Electric is pretty good coverage, & Magic Coat, or Thunder Wave to be honest, is great for his disruptive move. Trick won't work for that set, as he needs the Lefties.

??? Faster than Ttar, you know.

You know that without max HP, it's not really walling much. Plus, with Thick fat, he can afford to have lower SP.DEF.

Anti showed the Trick set. He has the defenses to pull it off, although it has risk, like it or not.

And the Specs set works wonders. Why the hell would you leave it against Weavile, anyway?

Psychic+Electric is pretty good coverage

Claydol, Exeggutor, Shiftry, Cacturne, Steelix. All pretty common in UU/BL.

that fits the description "pretty good", shedinjask. and while you may be naming some lower tier pokemon, some people take grumpig in consideration for cross-tier battles, me being one of them.

if you're going to give it specs, don't give it speed. give it HP, and give it trick.

it is faster than ttar, but is slower than CB/DD variants who run a lot of speed evs.

sims, i wouldn't call it a wall. it's a tank. it may perform for you as a wall when it's taking ice and fire hits for your team like none other, but it can't take strong hits all that well. that's where trick and thunderwave come into play on how well of a tank it is. but i must say, it's a brilliant infernape counter. super cute too ^.^

Well, it dances with Starmie & Gengar quite well (with Thunderwave) but it is very difficult to beat a Porygon-Z. Maybe because I use it with Magic Coat? I know T-Wave is more reliable, but Magic Coat is just too much fun.
