So out of sheer boredom, I was just wondering what everyone's opinions on the Pokemon EX were? I see a lot of people that say some are terrible and others who say that some are really good and I just wanted to get some feedback.
Here's my thoughts:
What are your thoughts on EX pokemon, in terms of best and worst? I'd have to say overall Registeel is the best and worst is tied between Kyogre and Giratina.
Here's my thoughts:
Spoiler:
Mewtwo
Mew
Kyogre
Groudon
Rayquaza
Zekrom
Reshiram
Kyurem
Raikou
Entei
Regigigas
Registeel
Ho-Oh
Giratina
Darkrai
Tornadus
Shaymin
Terrakion
Spoiler:
The best current EX, and the one dominating the metagame. It's all about who can counter who's Mewtwo until the game ends.
Mew
Spoiler:
A card that can use ANY attack from any pokemon in play. Although you're just running it to counter Mewtwo.
Kyogre
Spoiler:
Prize bait for dem Eelz.
Groudon
Spoiler:
Stamp for bench damage till he dies and cause massive damage.
Rayquaza
Spoiler:
He can do 180 damage, but he messes up your Eel formula by making you run Fire/Prisms. Countered by Rayquazas and Zoroark techs that eliminate the need for fire but now require Zoroark.
Zekrom
Spoiler:
Strong volt for big damage that almost KO's EX's. Glinting Claw makes you want to cry when you HAVE to use it and it fails.
Reshiram
Spoiler:
Nobody runs Typhlosion anymore. And if they do, they had better run Fliptinis and hope they don't flip tails, or Mewtwo will grab up its prize.
Kyurem
Spoiler:
You just kind of look at his attacks and realize he isn't nearly as good as Reshiram or Zekrom. Or even the standard Reshiram and Zekrom. Plenty of pokemon can deal 120 for less energies and use the attack over and over again. And don't cost you 2 prizes.
Raikou
Spoiler:
He can stall and snipe. All I can say is I've never loved Raikou as much as I do now.
Entei
Spoiler:
Burn is irrelevant with easy retreats and switches, and his energy boosting limits him to self-inclusive strategies in a fire deck.
Regigigas
Spoiler:
Gigas goes with every deck. He does a solid jab, and destroys anything that fails to land a KO with an intense revenge blow.
Registeel
Spoiler:
Dealing 30 to 3 pokemon for CCC destroys Eels. Psychic resistance makes him a pain for Mewtwo to KO. Special Metal Energy and Eviolite reduce the damage it takes. I sense a top-tier borderline rotation deck here.
Ho-Oh
Spoiler:
A little awkward to use, but it can revive itself on its own and come out swinging for at least 80 damage, granted you have 3 different basic energies discarded.
Giratina
Spoiler:
Grass and Psychic Energy costs drag this guy down. GPCC for 130 and discarding the top 3 of your deck is also a slap in the face. A near-impossible setup and it's not even the top 3 of your opponent's deck?
Also Rayquaza.
Also Rayquaza.
Darkrai
Spoiler:
Runs a pretty self-inclusive deck around Dark with lots of free retreat, and hits pretty hard with 90 and 30 to 1 bench for DDC, but EX-toolboxes will most likely overwhelm Dark, especially once junk arms are gone.
Tornadus
Spoiler:
Eel bait. Impossibly hard turn 1 not donking for DCE and having to have a stadium in play against EX pokemon with no weakness to normal being had, this guy is terrible.
Shaymin
Spoiler:
Useful as a last resort, but that's it. It's really easy to KO, but doing 30+ 30 for each prize your opponent has taken, and 150-180 is a death sentence for any EX... that doesn't have Eviolite. Although with tool scrapper this card is a guaranteed victory.
Terrakion
Spoiler:
FFC to do 90 and attach 2 energies from hand to your pokemon... this guy should wreck through Eels. Although The standard Terrakion is just much more practical overall.
What are your thoughts on EX pokemon, in terms of best and worst? I'd have to say overall Registeel is the best and worst is tied between Kyogre and Giratina.
