Pokemon GO EEVEElutions

From what I learned in pokemon go, when evolving an eevee, it's random and we get no say in it. I think there should be a way we can control what it becomes maybe via an added item to the game Tht u acquire at stops or maybe something location wise or even just picking. Idk if anyone agrees with me on this but I just think it would be pretty cool

I was actually pretty upset today when I evolved my Eevee and got Vaporeon. I don't know why they didn't want to include evolutionary items in this game. It would have been pretty straight-forward to combine items like evolutionary stones and the candies together to evolve some Pok?mon. Or so I would think. Oh well...

Maybe we could find a way to contact niantic and pokemon and tell them it should be in a future update

You could always leave a comment on the app in your app store; that's the beauty of the relationship between the consumer and app developers. Perhaps it's not the best medium for feedback, but I'm sure it's at least looked at every so often. If enough people bring it up, perhaps they will consider it.

me and a friend believe it is to do with Eevee's skill
skill - Dig evolved into Flareon and swift into jolteon and what ever the 3rd skill is will be vaporeon
worth to test out tho i think

I hope Niantic doesn't decide to keep it random. I assume they will be aware of players dislike of the current eveelutions system if they aren't already. It sort of seems like Niantic is somewhat sour to the idea of sticking to close to the main games but maybe this will change in the future.

Turns out it's NOT random at all. The Eeveelution you get depends on Eevee's special move:

Dig=Flareon
Body Slam=Jolteon
Swift=Vaporeon

I evolved my strongest eevee yesterday and was super disappointed in the thought of probably getting 10 flareons :(!!

Apparently this isn't 100% accurate (good old internet). Had several people comment on my the facebook groups I admin when the post came up stating they had evolved their eevee, but it evolved into a different eeveeloution that the reddit posted stated :c

Aw, really? Ah, well. Not like this really makes it much less random. Wild encounters are already fairly mixed.

I'm starting to think the people saying they got different evolutions are remembering wrong. I posted this in another thread but it's relevant here.

Someone posted on Reddit a few days ago that they tested with their friends and all Eevees with Dig became Flareon, all with Swift became Vaporeon, and all with Body Slam became Jolteon.

I swore up and down that my Jolteon had Dig so I set out to prove him wrong since I find Eevee all the time.

Every Eevee with Dig has become Flareon (4 of them), every Eevee with Body Slam became Jolteon (6) and every one with Swift has became Vaporeon (3). For the record I am Team Instinct.

So, still more testing to do but if it was random I should go play the lottery.

Hopefully someone tests this on Android AND records their screen.

Hey, so I had recently heard that depending on what you name your Eevee for the first time before evolving, you can set what you want it to evolve:

Sparky = Jolteon
Rainer = Vaporeon
Pyro = Flareon

If you name it Sparky, Rainer, or Pyro, it turns out to be one of those three from what you choose. However, I haven't tested it and I'm not sure if it's accurate.

This is confirmed I believe. I've seen it tested dozens of times now and it's always provided the correct result.

I've seen a few instances of server lag causing nicknames to not go through and causing people to scream about it not working.

I had an Eevee to evolve since I got tons from the food truck rally I went to yesterday to celebrate Pokemon GO. It worked! I got a pretty good Flareon too. ;)

I can just imagine when they add the other 5 and you have like 6 Jolteon, 12 Vaporeon, 4 Espeon, 2 Umbreon, 16 Leafeon before you get a Sylveon or a Flareon..... Nightmare




Edit: Can you change the name back to the original name after evolution?

I don't think you can get an Umbreon, can you?
