Pokemon League: Almmia - PG-13

"No, i just wanted to prepare my magmortar for water types. their's bound to be a few in the finals."
She signed 'Cyndi Backlot'

Then she gave slim a mischevious grin and said "How about we give the fans a little demonstration of what to expect?"

Chrome was wondering why there were suspicious little crowds outside of the Gym. She had to be cautious, as she didn't know what this city was like. She ran out of the door. "Hey! If you're not here to challenge the Gym, then LEAVE!"

One of them snickered. "And who are you to tell us to get lost?"

"Well," Chrome said, "I am the Gym Leader, the head of authority in the town, and if I do say so myself, I am one of the toughest Gym Leaders in the world." Chrome reached to her Absol, Navory's, PokeBall. "Now, if you don't want to get pummeled by my Absol, you'll back off."

All of them ran off in terror. "Ugh...paint cans? They were going to graffiti my Gym?! Those little scum--oh! Hi Rayna! Amanda told me about your battle. You fought real hard! I'm looking forward to our battle! Oh...how's your Chimchar?"

Rayna quickly manoeuvred herself out of the way of the passing crowd, "Hey, watch it!" she shouted and then froze as Chimchar stirred. Rayna contemplated putting Chimchar into its Pokeball but she knew she'd have a long fiery grudge ahead of her once Chimchar got out.

"Oh, hey!" Rayna replied as she realised Chrome -the Pueltown gym leader- was speaking to her. "I know right, it was a close call with Chimchar. Luckily Blaze kicked in at just the right moment but she isn't doing to badly, Nurse Joy said she'll be right as rain with some rest" the two girls continued discussing the battle as they entered the gym.

Rayna spotted Amanda staring at her from a window to her right and awkwardly waved, Amanda stuck her tongue out in reply.

"Hey, Chrome, its getting late and Chimchar needs a good rest, I was wondering if we could have our battle now? It looks like Sil will be quite a while" Rayna asked smiling.

"Well...I like you, and your Chimchar is just so cute...OK!" Chrome went to talk to Amanda real quick. "Amanda. Tell me again." Amanda explained their battle and then she got all wound up again. It seemed as if Rayna was staring. "Stop that! We're attracting attention. Thanks, though."

"Good luck! She's tough!" Amanda was truly feeling; Rayna had changed her, let her see that winning isn't everything.

"Alright." Chrome and Rayna both took their places. "This will be a three on three battle, and only the challenger may substitute Pokemon! The challenger, if she wins, will recieve the Twister Badge and the chance to teach one of her Pokemon Twister. This battle will be in the fan feild, with Pokemon of any weight being able to float. The Gym Leader has to send out her Pokemon first, as per League rules. Good luck, and let the battle begin!"

"Alright, lets start this thing, Corey!" Chrome sent out her Xatu. "Good luck, Rayna!"

"Let's give it our all!" Rayna called as a half awake Chimchar sat down beside her.

"Chim Chimchar Chim" it said sleepily.

Rayna bent down to speak to it face to face, "I want you to sit this one out okay, your way to exhausted to battle a gym leader" she explained as she rubbed the top of Chimchar's head. Chimchar was about to stand up in protest but its body wouldn't let it, instead it nodded and gave Rayna a thumbs up.

-A Xatu, hmm... Dark type moves work well against Psychic types- "Okay Honchkrow, your up!" Rayna shouted as she threw a Pokeball into the air. Honchkrow appeared in a layer of white light exactly as before and began stretching its wings.

"Honchkrow, are you okay to battle?" Rayna asked, she didn't want her Pokemon to over do it but she knew Mamoswine and Rhyperior would have trouble against a Xatu. Honchkrow cawed in reply and locked eyes with the gym leader's Pokemon.

"Okay Honchkrow, since Psychic Pokemon are weak against Dark type attacks, use Dark Pulse while flying towards it!"

"Big mistake. If you think type advantages will bring us down, then you're wrong! Corey, counter it with Shadow Ball cmbined with Twister!" The young Xatu used a Twister infused with shadowy strings; and it flew towards the foe Honchkrow. "Try and dodge that; it's enhanced by the fans, spreading the move throughout the floor!" Chrome yelled to her opponent.

Rayna knew she had to think fast, "Honchkrow, fly upwards, use Ominous Wind and make sure it travels exactly like Xatu's!" Rayna's Honchkrow obeyed and aimed its Ominous Wind exactly like Chrome's Xatu.

The two attacks hit simultaneously causing a small explosion, the field was filed with a dark smoke exactly like before. "Double Team!" Before Rayna could even see Honchkrow she heard it caw until there were dozens of Honckrows flapping their wings.

Once the smoke had gone Rayna realised that Xatu barely had a scratch on it, -Think Rayna, think- she thought to herself repeatedly.

"Honchkrow, return" Rayna suddenly called and returned her Pokemon, "Come on out Rhyperior!"

Rayna's Rhyperior came out of its Pokeball with a roar, its stone torso was positively shiny which showed that Rayna took very good care of it.

"Rhyperior, don't underestimate Xatu, it looks frail but it can sure pack a punch!" it nodded in response and then growled under its breath.

"Rhyperior, use Sandstorm!"

Rhyperior suddenly summoned an army of sand that began violently slashing at Xatu's feathers. "What were you saying about a type advantage not bringing you down?" Rayna called sarcastically and then winked as she blew Chrome a kiss.

Alex continued on his way to Shiver Camp, trying to place where he'd seen that girl before. Maybe it was his imagination, but she didn't seem to pleased to see him. Did he used to annoy her?
"Hey Eevee, do you recognise that girl?" Alex asked his Pokemon companion. The small Pokemon shook its head, unable to recall where he had seen her.
"Shoulda asked her name too..." Alex muttered to himself and shrugged. She would visit his gym at some point. He could ask her then.

His left arm started tingling, and he raised it in front of him, glaring at his injury as if trying to intimidate it. The pain of the burn always fluctuated. Sometimes it wasn't really noticeable, sometimes it was numb or tingly, sometimes the pain was excruciating. Treatments to try and lessen the pain weren't effective, and for the most part, he could deal with it.
Although if it acted up during a match, he could be seen as weak and disabled, unable to properly train Pokemon. Alex wanted to avoid that. He refused to be seen as weak over something like this.
"Come on, let's hurry. The gym's a bit outta the way." Alex told Eevee as he quickened his pace.

----------------------------

Lucy walked to Pueltown, still worrying over her inevitable gym battle with Alex. She would need to state her name and then he would recognise her, and then he might tell Lucy how much he hated her for leaving him to deal with some evil Pokemon. She tried to tell herself she was just being paranoid. After all, Alex didn't look too bothered with his injury.
But still, maybe he just hid his feelings? Maybe Alex wanted revenge or-
Arrrrrgh! Shut up! I'm being an idiot! Lucy mentally berated herself. After taking a deep breathe, she planned her route.
After I challenge the Pueltown gym, I'll head south... She decided. She would then visit all the area's in the eastern side of the region as she could before going back to Shiver Camp. That would be plenty of time to work the courage to challenge his gym and not abandon the league altogether.

"Well then...Corey, Psychic!" The bird suddenly took control of the tiny grains of sand. "Now throw them all at that Rhyperior!" Corey let the sand attack Rhyperior, making it sustain a terrific amount of damage, but it didn't KO it. "Type advantages won't bring us down," Chrome said as she winked and commanded Corey to deliver the final blow on Rhyperior. "That's what I said," she said with a smile.

Rayna gasped in shock, "N-No! Rhyperior!" her Pokemon had fainted before it even had a chance to attack. Rayna fell to her knees and held her Pokeball out, "Rhyperior return"

-Well I can't just give up after the first defeat, I've still got at least two battles to go- Rayna thought. "You did awesome Rhyperior" she reached for another Pokeball and threw it into the air. "Let's take care of this as fast as they did, come on out Mamoswine!"

"Mamo Mamoswine" the large mammoth Pokemon yelled.

"Okay, Mamoswine, use Powder Snow full blast!" Mamoswine unleashed a devastating attack on Xatu, after the wind had died down Rayna saw that Xatu's wings had been frozen.

"Yes! Now use Ice Shard followed up by a Giga Impact using the currents to reach Xatu!"

Mamoswine used its Ice Shard attack to throw a large sphere of ice towards the trapped Xatu and then began charging into a Giga Impact. As the Giga Impact collided with the Ice Shard it forced it to split into a million pieces which clung to Mamoswine and enveloped its attack with an Icy coating. That would definately KO Xatu... Rayna crossed her fingers just to be on the safe side.

The elite trainer from El Paso hawk-eyed the scribbling his newly acquainted friend put on the piece of paper, and barely made out 'Cyndi,' which was the best name he could come up with from the letters he could plainly see. "A battle eh?" Slim said enthusiastically. With a big grin on his face, he drew his Poke-Revolver out and spun the chamber before putting it back in his holster. "Sounds mighty fun. Let's give 'em a teaser with a one on one using a random Pokemon!"

He took out his second, currently empty revolver and gave it to the girl, who was hopefullly name Cyndi...or Cymidel...or Cimba. "This one's fer you. Throw your 'balls in when they're nice and small, then close the chamber an' spin it. With the gun cocked, just pull the trigger with the barrel facing away from you, and whichever is in the chamber will come out. I'll let ya shoot first so you can get ahold of what I'm sayin' before I shoot. Afterall, ladies first."

(OOC:To randomly decide which Pokemon I'm going to use, I like to use this random integer generator. You can use your own method to generate which you'll be sending, unless you want to do each other's to make it slightly less biased)

Miharu rolled her eyes at the Gym Leader's, Dustin's, mistake.

"Technically," said Miharu while scowling at being called arrogant. "I wasn't crowned the champion, as I said I was a semi-finalist."

Plus, I'm pretty sure the champion of that year was a guy named Adam Soto? Something like that anyways.

Miharu knew that arrogance was an enemy that never seemed to be beaten, and if you had it and embraced it, that you would only defeat yourself in the long run. Arrogance had a way of making you committing suicide, and usually it's your pokemon that paid the price of your arrogance. Miharu swore to herself never to become arrogant because she didn't want to harm her pokemon into being so.

Miharu eyes narrowed as she thought out her next move.

Obviously, Shadow Ball isn't going to work, but most of the time coming too close up is like suicide...What to do...

Master, the battle still continues. What is your wish?

Let's do a safe route, do a couple of Calm Minds, perhaps two or three, before we start attacking.

As you wish, Master.

Gallade closed his eyes and slipped into a neutral stance (one in which can be used to attack or block if needed) as a eerie purple light appeared around Gallade. The purple energy swirled around a bit before going back to Gallade and as it came back again, it grew stronger and stronger before Gallade opened his eyes and moved back into a combat stance. Gallade looked as if it was ready to take on several pokemon at one go.

What are you going to do about this...?

Before the battle began, League officials moved many people who were taking pictures and the like off the stage. Now with plenty of battling room, Slim went to take his place at the end of the stage, smiling to the spectators as he did so. The spurs on the heels of his faded and worn snakeskin boots made a distinctive chinging noise while he walked. The crowd started to quiet down in anticipation as a friendly match between two Elite Four members was about to begin. Cyndi sent out her Pokemon, which was a Magmortar. It was much taller than it's trainer, and looked primed and ready for battle.

To dazzle the crowd, Slim took his revolver out from it's holster and started to display his prowess as a gunslinger. After a quarter of a minute of twirling the gun around his fingers in a few poses, the revolver sat right back into the holster from where it was drawn. A few more seconds passed in silence before the Southerner did a quickdraw, pulling out, cocking, and then firing his revolver in a blink of an eye.

"That's an impressive wartortle" said Cyndi perkily, but then she pondered "But you'd think it would have evolved by now"

"I've been sayin' that fer years now." Slim retorted, slightly poking fun at his starter. Ted the Wartortle turned towards him and glared, as if to cuss him out through its facial expression. "He'll evolve when he's good an' ready I guess." he stated, trying to get his Pokemon to stop giving him a death look. "I guess I'll start things off. Ted, time ta use Rain Dance." Ted started to dance in a pecular, but syncronized manner. As the Turtle Pokemon did so, Heavy dark clouds began to form, and random drops of water slowly formed into rain.

"Looks like luck ain't so kind to ya today ma'am." Slim stated to Cyndi, refrencing the type advantage his Pokemon has.

"Maggie, create some cover wth flame thrower!" called cyndi

Magmorter heeded who call and shot 2 flamethrowers from his hands at the ground in front of him, rapidly heating up the ground and creating a steam that both concealed most of the field, but scalded any pokemon inside it. At least, any pokemon without a high heat resistance

Cyndi boasted "You think i'd make it this far without learning how to deal with water types?"

When Cyndi shouted out for her "Maggie" to use a flamethrower attack on the stage's floor, it took Slim a second to think it through, and quickly determined that using that attack was a horrible idea. "...Cyndi! Recall that atta..." Slim's warning came quickly, but it was too late as the fire-type sent a large flame into the center of the wooden stage. While the idea of using heat to create steam was clever, it wouldn't have worked in this situation, as there wasn't enough water to create the desired effect of a steam cloud. What little amount of steam that was created paled in comparison to the black smoke that was created in the center of the stage. The fire boiled away all the water on the spot, which dried the wood and started a fire on the stage that started to spread.

Slim and Ted got off the stage, and the Cowboy yelled for his opponent to get off the stage before ordering the Wartortle to dose the flame quickly with Hydro Pump. Other trainers in the crowd released some of thier water-types to help, as the fire was a threat to all, and not just the trainers.

(Did you forget we were one a stage, and not on the ground? :P)

"i'm sorry!" said cyndi, deeply regretting the danger she had put everyone in.

(OOC: If you want to post as your character, I told you which pokemon you can encounter in this post. You also have the option of me RPing the wild Pokemon)

Mostly all of the people in the crowd accepted the young girl's apology, although there were some critics trying to think of why she made such a careless move. Slim took her to the side where no one would hear him talk and spoke in an aggrivated tone. "What in tarnation were you thinking? Ya almost killed everyone here, 'cept that blasted Magmortar of yours. This includes you little missy. What kinda teachin' they got you learnin' if you don't know wood catches fire easily. Why'da think grass types are weak against fire? Use some gad-damn common sense next time, 'less you're plannin' on killing every trainer you face off against."

With his little rant over and done with, Slim walked away with Ted following shortly behind him. The cowboy was more than ticked off at the young lady, and started to question why she was picked as an Elite Four member.

After returning to his gym, Greg sat on the grassy area infront of the gym to meditate. His Pokemon, all out of their Pokeballs, joined him in some shape or form. His most experienced Pokemon, Scyther, Marowak, and Farfetchd, all mediated next to him. Bastodion took a nap in the sun, seemingly taking no interest in focusing its mind. Kingler would've liked to join in on the nap, but Alakazam was having a laugh at his expense, and was using phychic powers to keep the giant crab floating the air. At this point, Greg doubted anyone would come to challenge him so soon after the ceremony, which gave the sword master time to rest from the festivities.

-----------------

At Altru Inc., the events of the League's ceremony had no effect on their buisness. While they were joyed of the notion that more people would inhabit the land, and therefore consume more energy that they supply, there wasn't as much of a hype as there was in the small towns in the region. The company did have their own sort of fireworks display, but none of it was with the intent of making others smile. An explosion destroyed a few windows on the 8th floor, and a man wearing a mask and dark clothing flew off on the back of a Fearow.....
