Pokemon live action movie

Or maybe the movie version is a different universe but inspired by the Ash Ketchum adventures... Like the Transformer movie being G1 inspired?

Just imagine that maybe Pokemon are evolved animals? and humans are living in a post apocalyptic world maybe after Day AFter Tommorow? So the Main Character probably young Samuel...[you know who.] not just meets up with a Pikachu but also a Charmander.....

They can also make the world much like our own but maybe with slight differences.

This one is just my wishful thinking

20 years after an catatrophic Ice age, humans managed to survive but 90% of the animals did not . But all was not lost. A group of scientists have created a Gene Bank two decades ago, preserving the genes almost every animal and plant in existence. However, with such knowledge comes power and power has been known to corrupt the heart of humans.

The group of scientists decided to use this genetic data to create animals that can withstand another Ice Age should it come. But one scientist, [you know who], was against the idea. He stole half of the database and disappeared.

Oddly enough, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon does this too.

It actually can be considered our world with slight differences (namely being the presence of Pokemon). This is implied by the references to the real world, ranging from the fact that most canon regions correspond to actual regions to Japan to the presence of a resort in Mexico. *motions to Acapulco* 'Course, I know they're nowhere near each other, which might also imply a different planet with similar place names. *shrug*

This reminds me so much of Titan AE. XD

While it sounds like a good idea, you'll have to face questions like "What about the ancient Pokemon?" (extinct Pokemon, Pokemon in various legends including creation myths, et cetera) if this world is essentially the Pokemon world. I've read a fanfic that explains Pokemon as being the creation of a meteor striking Earth and causing certain animals, people, and objects to mutate, which was cool, but it at least was set far before the adventures of Ash Ketchum so as to explain why people in the present-day Pokemon world believe that Pokemon have always been there.

Unless, of course, you're creating an entirely different world, at which point I feel a little uncomfortable with the idea of canon characters in said world. Although PGSM does the entire "same characters, completely different universe" idea, they really don't deviate too far from what we recognize to be the Sailor Moon universe. To take the Pokemon world and attempt to explain the creation of Pokemon as being a recent happening just feels like wandering away from some of the more obvious points of canon. It's almost like saying Usagi Tsukino became Sailor Moon after being hit by a strange ray, rather than being given a transformation brooch by Luna. In other words, it might run at a risk of being too different from the Pokemon world, which then upsets fans.

Its possible i suppose, i guess they could use the same sort of animation for the real life scooby doo movies.

whether they did a plot about a trainer just starting or a big battle; i think the ash thing would be weird have him in loads of animated episodes and movies and then on the big screen, it would be slightly odd.

Maybe ash could have a cameo of some sort, like wanders in the background

Maybe Ash's adventures in CG lol.

Seriously, CG/Actor Pokemon movie would suck more than the current episodes.
Pokemon Vgs are fun and all, but it's going down with the Anime/

Lmao [Your sig]

Anyway, I think they can make it work in 3d etc. I'm thinking of a Mewtwo pic that could be in a live action movie of Pokémon, I will try and find on internet.

He might come out in the sequel ha ha ha..

But then if this were to work is there anything i should look out... what factors or things that is unique to Pokemon that shouldn't be left out? And yah I am doing the fanfic.

Well even Micheal Bay had to go thru "Transformer school" in Hasbro to do the movie.

They wouldn't do it unless people started liking Pokemon again, and it stopped being, "gay" as dubbed by most in the public
Actually, alot of people like it again. I know I looooved it when I was 8 up to 12 and now, at 15, I started liking it again. I think a movie would also get alot of kids into liking it. I know at my old high school there was a huge group of kids last year that brought their DS's and played Pokemon at lunch.

I think a movie like that would be AWESOME.

i just can't picture it... possible but i don't think many people would watch it.

Pokemon Reality

After seeing the live-action Sailormoon series and trailers for the live-action Cutie Honey series, I really don't think live-action Pokemon (or anime in general) is completely impossible to pull off. Yes, it'd need a bit of CGing, but there are ways of doing so without making it completely tacky. I mean, if Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon could pull off the senshi's attacks and a talking cat and still have a good number of fans, the same could probably be done combining the two to make Ash's Pikachu.

As for the story, given the quality of Pokemon's story to begin with (as in, it's a show aimed at younger audiences, so it's not exactly Hamlet), the CG + live actor combination probably won't kill it.

'Course, I don't know about a full series (the way PGSM did it), but a movie's a different story that really comes down to who (in terms of director, animators, et cetera) does it. And personally, I'd prefer it if the directing and script writing was left in the hands of the Japanese, as they tend to do crazy-awesome stuff when it comes to film adaptations.

I absolutely agree with you, especially knowing that the 2004 Japanese movie Casshern managed to pull off a dark and technologically innovative film from a Japanese anime created thirty years previously. If Japan can pull off a live-action anime like that, making it more thoughtful and aesthetically fantastic, then a live-action Pokemon movie just might be possible.

Of course, the chances of the United States' watering it down or mistranslating it to a bloody pulp could be pretty high...

I believe Pokemon Live! existed :/ I saw it a long time ago, it just had Giovanni with a Mewtwo that can copy and learn any move used against it :/

I remember that :0

But meh, if they did make it, I'd like something not so...kiddy. I mean, I don't want a little cutie moral, I want some action! I don't mean blood gushing out of Brock or anything, but some decent CGI and scripting would be good.

A little gore is still needed... but for Pokemon I made up an explainatin is that their skin regenerates fast so a cut will be like a second day cut in seconds but the bleeding needs some minutes to heal....

And the humans will have some fist action...

An Arbok killing people is pretty much a good start... especially when Pokemon have not existed prior to my fic.

But don't worry, my pokemon are mostly human sized and their form will fit their function.

I think when kids are gonna hear about this movie they won't like it that much since theres too much violence.

I don't think killing is a good start but something like a Tentacruel smashing a building won't be that bad.

The story should be based on Ash's adventure (The fist anime episode) and mabye start with different characters instead of Misty.

Ash's adventures are repetitive and losing a bit of its charm.

Well, possibly, but that doesn't mean that a live-action Pokemon film based on the anime should deviate from them. =/ If you were doing fanfiction, then yes, you could, and no one would really care because it's fanfiction. However, if you're talking about a hypothetical live-action Pokemon movie written and directed by someone else, then that's a horse of a completely different color. The reason why is because the Pokemon name, as much as fans would hate to admit it, is often associated with media directed at general audiences. The anime doesn't show a ton of violence and absolutely no gore because children watch it. The games might have twisted hints in the evil teams, but in the end, they're rated E for everyone for a reason. The Pokemon franchise relies on the ability to market to children as well as the rest of the audience out there, so saying that gore should be added to a hypothetical Pokemon movie for no reason other than you think it's exciting would be losing the target audience that the actual creators are aiming for.

Additionally, Ash's adventures have a certain familiarity to them. While, yes, a company can do rewrites of them in a live-action series (and, in fact, many live-action series based on anime or cartoon shows often do this), the live-action media should still attempt to aim for the target audience of the original because the name and the source (i.e. the fact that it would be based on the anime) will most likely attract the same target audience. To change the tone of one source of media, most likely, will turn fans of the anime away (because the movie is no longer like the anime).

However, again, it's a different story for fanfiction, but one can assume that you're not talking about fanfiction, considering the fact that this version of the thread is in Pokemon General and not the Writing Lounge. If you want to write a fanfiction about it, sure, go ahead, and good luck. *salute*

Well take a good look at the new Transformers movie and compare it with its G1 ancestors.

The Key is balance.

Actually, that really doesn't have much to do with my argument. The images you've just showed me just tell me that the ability to CG has added visual realism in the sense of small details and a deviation from cartoonish designs. It does not tell me whether or not Transformers' target audience has shifted to adults. Just because something is more detailed doesn't mean that it necessarily has to be more mature, with gore included. A film or series aimed towards children can still appear fairly realistic as of character designs without having to resort to using gore or violence (outside of the usual Pokemon battle, of course) in order to show off how realistic it is.

No.. I meant gore is still needed but keep it to a minimum. Kids nowadays fight often. I am one such victim.

Anyway... but then if they follow Ash's adventures so closely the manga wouldn't exist.. Maybe some Major characters like Prof. Oak and some might be in the movie but he might be different from his other counterparts in the manga or anime.

But what human characters give Pokemon that unique factor that has us entrailed all these 10 years.
