If it wasn't for the fur that covered her cheeks, Rani would have blushed deeply. As it was, she could have sworn that her cheeks were burning so much anyway that it simply must have been showing. She forced herself to laugh.
"Ha... Ha..."
She gave the kindling back to Shierk, then asked "You want me to set fire to it while it's still in your hands?"

Shierk smiled and held up his arms, which were still covered by the metal claws.

"I should be fine with these. I have had quite a bit of experience with metalworking after all. So, if you would...?"

Shierk smiled at her and looked at Rokan. "If Both of you use ember, I may be able to get a strong fire."

"Okay..."
Rani wasn't convinced, but nevertheless she prepared to use Ember on the kindle in Shierk's arms. Having not used Ember since the tickling episode, she wasn't sure she'd be any good, but she began to focus on producing the heat in her throat as before, drawing it up from the pits of her belly. As she prepared to start exhaling the weak Embers that she had managed to build up, Rokan's words came to the front of her mind. She needed to inhale while releasing the Ember attack to make it stronger. Rani did so, but she timed it awfully, and ended up almost breathing in the Embers herself! As it was, she began to cough violently, a cloud of dark smoke coming out of her mouth instead of a steady flow of Ember. As she coughed, a weak ember or two were spat out, but they only glowed faintly in the kindle before disappearing. Rani did not notice this, of course; she was too busy choking and coughing violently. The fire was not burning her, but the sudden inhaling of smoke and flames had caught her quite by surprise. After a few more coughs, the smoke dissipated and Rani began to breath normally again, ignoring the few tears that rolled down her cheeks from the choking fit. She cleared her throat and sat up straight.
"Perhaps I won't try to make the Ember stronger just yet," she decided before smiling at Shierk. "I'll try again."

Rani began to draw up the heat from her belly into her throat again, and this time did not try to inhale as the Ember was released. The unsteady stream of weak embers hit the kindle again, this time causing them to begin to burn, but very weakly. "I need some more practise at this," she said resignedly.

Shierk shook his head slowly. "Nahh it's alright. Just remember, the charcoal will help power up your fire attacks if you feel you need to use it as a crutch. I'll go start up the fire." Shierk carefully carried the tinder, blowing on it gently as he did so. The fire flared when he did this and he grinned. Shierk jumped into the pit and held the fire in his right hand. It had almost engulfed all of the kindling, and Shierk knew he had to act fast. He set up a pile of kindling with his feet. He rolled the log over the kindling and he set the fire down carefully, trying not to burn his uncovered fur. He stepped back and walked around the log, making sure it was burning evenly. Pleased with the fire, he stepped back and saw the iron. It was a lot bigger than he needed it to be. Shierk turned to Max. "Hey max, I don't suppose you could shatter the iron could you?"

Len quickly got up on his feet after resting a little so he could join the others but turned to Mack who seemed more tired then he ever was.. Which was weird for being an artificial pokemon. "Hey Mack, You alright? Nice job with the iron" Len said gladly. If Len had hands, He would probably carry him somewhere more comfortable... He couldn't really do much for him at this point, So Len just let him relax a little while the others made the Chain.

In the Meantime, Len went to see the progress on the Chain. Shierk really had a knack for doing this kind of thing. "Just let me know if the fire gets out of control" "Len told him.

"Umth... Shder... Wellf, I shguesh I couldth," Kreep said, honestly confused at what just happened. Rani, and Rokan, were actually being nice to him. He had expected another insult when the proud growlithe walked over, but instead he recieved an invitation to gather material for the chain-forming fire. Ever since entering this whole thing, Kreep had just been insulted. Sure, he didn't exactly do anything deserving of any sort of apology, but why should he have to? He didn't need anyone. Still, Kreep decided to agree and set out on getting some dry leaves and such. He began to slowly walk away towards where some probably were, deciding it'd be best to just keep his head down. After all, Kreep was awfully suspicious of the random kindness demonstrated by the two. Rani, just some stuck up fire type who thought people actually cared that she was a growlithe. The only one who thought she was special was herself. And Rokan, she was still a mystery to Kreep. Probably just some girl who also wanted Shierk. Still, he had to work with these 'mons. Kreep paused in his walk and turned around. "Thankths, Shrowkanth."

As Shierk began to light the great fire and called for Mack to help break the iron, Rani took a few steps back. She didn't mind the heat of the fire; after all, she was a Growlithe! Her Flash Fire ability meant that flames couldn't hurt her, and she enjoyed the heat and the beauty of the dancing flames, but now the fire was going, Shierk didn't need her around anymore. She had just embarrassed herself greatly, and she could make herself more useful elsewhere. She looked around, and was pleasantly surprised to see Kreep making himself useful. He was looking around for kindle, but his head was down. He looked surprised, but slightly unhappy. Or angry. It was hard to tell; she could barely see his face. He paused, looking around at Rokan, and Rani vaguely heard him give his thanks to her.
She didn't like to interrupt a moment, and hoped she wouldn't come across as rude, but she slowly wandered over to the two Pokemon, keeping her head down to show her submission and to show that she wasn't looking for a fight. Only when she grew near did she lift up her head and look at Kreep. It was improper behaviour for a Growlithe to submit to Pokemon such as Bellsprout, but the situation called for it; it was clear that he did not at all approve of her prejudice, and swanning up to him in a way her ancestors would have been proud of wasn't the best way to make him enamoured towards her.
"Um, Kreep?" she asked slowly, "When you two are done talking, could I have a word?"

Sure, he was a pretty foul creature, and she'd probably have nightmares for years to come about the tickling, but nevertheless, she'd been pretty horrid to him. As much as she believed that, as a Growlithe, she was superior, he had made her feel like lowlife. It had been her fault for not fighting back effectively and leading to him being attacked by Shierk. She needed to apologise, even if Shierk's actions had been beyond her control.
She didn't like to think that she was only doing this so she'd be popular like her prejudice told her she should be – she was trying to convince herself that she was really apologising because it was polite.
The fact was that it was a bit of both.
Rani fixed Kreep with a hopeful and friendly smile, then, as Rani moved a few steps away, she looked around for something productive to do, and her eyes landed on Kara. Rani also considered that the team being friendly and united was essential for helping her to protect them. The closer they were as a team, the more Rani would know about them and how she needed to act if she was protecting them all.

Rokan smiled encouragingly in Kreep's direction and motioned toward a small withered tree nearby. It looked as though its roots had been strangled by a larger, far more vibrant oak growing next to it. As sad as that was, it could now act as wood. She knew Shierk and Rani had already begun the fire; she should have expected nothing more of the two. Since the start they had been so heavily absorbed in each other that everyone else only existed when they could be useful to them. At least, that was the impression Rokan got. But that was alright. There was still Kreep, and Mack, and Len, and Haley. She could perhaps find her place among them.

Standing on her hind legs, she gripped a branch and pulled it away from the tree with her jaws. It snapped off easily, leaving her leaning against the tree with her front paws. "I'll break them off if you'll carry them," she offered. Several more tumbled down after the first. There was a substantial pile of sticks when she heard Rani call to speak to Kreep. Instantly she stiffened. Despite her efforts to work as a team with everyone she'd gathered a faint dislike for the arrogant, prejudiced Growlithe. She only hoped she wasn't going to snap at Kreep for something else he could have possibly done wrong.

"Guess I'll get started" she murmured to no one, watching as Shierk asked for Rani and Rokan's help. Max glanced around the area, since this place was used for training just about all types, there had to be a rocky terrain around here somewhere "Found it" she thought with a grin while jogging over to the area filled to the brim with rocks of all shapes and sizes, from jagged to smooth rocks and big or small, this area had it all. "Hmm, I could just gather all the tiny rocks lying around on the floor..." she murmured before shaking her head and grinning "but that's no fun"Max slammed her fists together and walked up to the largest rock nearby, that was at least about 6 heads taller than her 2 foot 7 inch frame, she glanced up at the big rock and smiled.

"This one looks big enough" Max then hopped her way up to the very top and began to balance on the tips of her toes, she took a deep breath, reached up and tightened the band on her forehead, Max then exhaled "Kiiiyahhhh!!!" Max leaped high into the air and then flipped once, coming down on the rock tip with a harsh roundhouse kick, she then landed on the ground in front of the rock, standing up slowly and grinning while seconds later cracks began to slowly form along the large rock and pieces began to chip and fall off, before the rock just crumpled neatly into a pile of tinier rocks, that were about the size of her bawled fist and came up to her waist. Max clapped her hands together, ridding herself of imaginary dust and mentally congratulated herself on a job well done, there was just one problem. . .

"How am I gonna get all these little rocks over to Shierk" Max scratched her cheek thoughtfully, she would need a bag or some sort of large leaf or something to hold all the rocks together, since she doubted any of the others could carry all these rocks in one go "This is going to be a bit troubling..." she murmured.

Shierk looks like he dug a swell pit. He even let Rani help him with lighting the fire.
Mack thought again to himself, "Everybody seems to be working together now. I hope this goes on during the expedition to Darkrai's location." Surveying slowly around the grounds, Mack saw that the females, Rani and Rokan, were talking to Kreep again.
"My, my. Everything works fast around here." And it was right about that. Rokan stood against a tree and took down some of its loose branches and sticks. Max went over to the large stone and climbed on top of it.
"Is she doing what I think she's doing?" Mack wondered.
Sure enough, Mack was right. Max lunged her self into the air and caused a large impact upon the top of the rock with her foot. It was so powerful that Mack almost felt a small rumble under itself. Again, Mack thought why she needed training, she looked already powerful enough as it is.
Once the rock crumbled down to bits, Max stood there and seemed to be in deep thought. Perhaps she is thinking of how much they need for the chain. Well, as much as they can get their hands on would be acceptable.
Knowing that, Mack shifted over (still a little weary from the ironic struggle) beside Max, hoping she would respond.

(OOC: An ironic struggle? Get it, huh? .....Sorry, I couldn't help it.)

Glancing around after looking at Kara, Rani could have sworn she saw Rokan stiffen. It was probably just a trick of the light, nothing more. Rani instantly dispelled all thoughts of it, instead looking at the truly impressive pile of dead sticks and twigs that lay next to the tree Rokan was standing on. Rani looked in awe at the collection. She hadn't expected there to be so many so soon!
It was no less than to be expected, of course. Rokan was a talented Vulpix.

At once a mighty ornifoV crash came from nearby, drawing Rani's attention. If someone had been hurt while she'd been distracted, she never forgive herself. Looking around, she saw Max standing by a pile of small rocks, and could only guess that she'd just broken them. Rani breathed a sigh of relief.
The Machop's sheer strength for such a small creature really was surprising. Such strength had never been paralleled in even the strongest Growlithe. Only Arcanine, the final evolution, had shown strength equal to this one small Machop. Most peculiar.

Having been assured that nothing bad had happened, Rani looked back at Kara, keeping watch in case she stirred and waiting patiently for Kreep to finish what he was doing so she could speak with him.

"Maybe I could throw it at them?" Max made a face as the thought about chucking the rocks to where Shierk was, that wouldn't be a good idea, knowing Max, she'd probably throw it a bit to hard and might accidentally lob one of their heads off "And that's really, really bad" the Machop laughed weakly as the thought of someone's head popping off after she accidentally launched a rock in their direction, entered her brain. Shaking her head, Max rid herself of these thoughts and went back to thinking about how she was going to get all these rocks over to Shierk, when she finally noticed Mack floating beside her "Oh, hey Mack!" She gave the Magnemite a toothy grin and crossed her arms behind her head "What's up?"

"Well, up is a vertical direction." Mack joked. Wait, did it just say that? Mack rarely ever has a sense of humor. I may be because it has been hanging around with cool-like Pokémon today. Whatever reason it was, Mack was both happy and confused of this. "...Sorry about that statement." Mack quickly said. "Back to what you said...nothing just yet, I'm just a little overexerted from the iron's excavation." Mack was far more exerted than it said.
"You seem to trying to think of something, correct?"

((OOC: Sorry folks, I've been busy and couldn't post...))

Haley just sat back and watched as the other pokemon set off collecting kindling and rocks and such- it wasn't like her to be lazy, but since they were almost done- or so it seemed -she decided that the others didn't need her help. The loud bang that Max had caused didn't alarm didn't bother the wooper, so it was very ironic that a small noise from behind jolted Haley nearly out of her skin. Turning around she saw that Kara had simply rolled over in her sleep, but that could mean that she may wake up soon. "Hey guys, I don't know much about chain-building, but could you speed up just a little? I think Kara might wake up soon."

"Alshright," Kreep said, guessing that Rokan's plan was reasonable enough. However, he was startled to find that Rani was still waiting there to speak with him. He had hoped that maybe she would lose interest... He hadn't done anything wrong this time, right? Kreep really felt like starting another fight, but knew that wouldn't help. It still felt like it would, though. After picking up a few of the sticks, still too absorbed in his own thought to say anything, he trodded over to Rani and stopped in front of her expectantly. Looking down over the small statured fire type, he said in a thick voice "Thyeah, whasht ith it?" It was hard not to just walk away and punch something, but Kreep dug his roots softly into the ground. "Just... relax..." he thought to himself, feeling the comforting whispers of the Earth.

Rokan watched out of the corner of her eye. Normally, she wasn't the type to eavesdrop. It was a terrible thing to do and encroached on the personal lives of others. Then again, maybe poor Kreep needed backup from the horribly conceited little mutt.

...had she really just thought that about a colleague?

No, she concluded. That thought simply could not have come from her. She didn't take the type to determine where, then, it came from. Rokan instead shook her head nonchalantly, as though her silver chain was getting on her nerves, and picked up a mouthful of sticks.

Was this what she had been reduced to? Carting sticks around like a dog? With a snort she sauntered over to where Shierk was and dropped them. However, instead of going back for more she sat and pretended to watch his work. In reality, her attention was on the two conversing Pokemon nearby. Rani had better be nice to him.

As Kara stirred, Rani became worried. She hoped the chains would be ready in time.
Suddenly she felt a presence behind her and looked around to see Kreep looking at her expectantly.
"Thyeah, whasht ith it?"

Rani couldn't help but shiver slightly upon hearing Kreep's voice, but she was more concerned about how uninterested he seemed. Here she was about to apologise for what had happened earlier, and he was being totally nonchalant!
Still, that wasn't going to stop her, no matter how rude he was.

She slowly opened her mouth, then slowly started to speak.
"...I... I owe you an apology, Kreep," she said quietly. "I underestimated you." Rani gulped, and sounding slightly ashamed herself continued, "I thought that a mere Bellsprout would never be able to defeat a Growlithe like me, despite the fact I didn't know any Fire Type moves yet."
She paused, uneasy about continuing.
"I-I was... Wrong. Very wrong." Rani shook her head in disbelief at her foolishness. "Wrong to judge that you'd be easy to defeat because you were a Bellsprout and I was a Growlithe."
Her voice changing from one of sadness to a more matter-of-fact one, she continued: "Because I underestimated you, I was unprepared for your attacks and I never dreamed you'd tickle me. Perhaps if I'd been more mindful of your superior skill, I could have fought you off. Perhaps Shierk wouldn't have attacked you."

Now Rani paused again, steeling herself for the next part of her apology.
"In short," she continued, "It was my selfish prejudice towards you that led to you being hurt (though I'm certain you weren't hurt that badly), and I'm truly sorry. I won't underestimate you again."

Throughout her small speech, Rani had been mostly looking at the ground or her front paws, occasionally glancing quickly up at Kreep, but now she gazed up at him properly, hoping she had done enough to convince him that she wanted them to at least be friendly. She didn't want any enemies, and it seemed she was going about it the right way. She silently cursed her family for raising her so prejudiced, but quickly withdrew it. After all, though their methods of diplomacy were poor, they were still Arcanine and still her family, so still worthy of respect.

All she could do was wait for Kreep's reaction, and Rani dearly hoped it would be one of understanding.

Max burst into a fit of laughter at Mack's joke and she waved him off when he apologized "Oh, no need to apologize for being funny. Oohh, yeah everyone's working pretty hard. I just hope it doesn't go to waste and she wakes up or something" she being Kara obviously, that Gliscor was a pain in everyone's side and it would suck if the flyscorpian woke up while they were in the middle of making chains to keep a 'leash' on her. Max nodded at his question, while lowering an arm to her side, while the other rubbed under her chin thoughtfully "Yeah, I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna get all these rocks over to Shierk, without cause too much trouble, I was thinking of using a big leaf or a bag or something to take this over in one go, cause I really don't feel like making a round trip, but I'm not sure where to get one. . . do you have any ideas?"

Kreep glared back at Rani, trying to effectively take in what she had just said. He hadn't expected it, but the growlithe seemed chillingly aware of her prejudice. And... was sorry for it... Kreep felt no sympathy as he watched Rani squirm, clearly out of her element making the apology. After all, she did owe him an apology. However, Kreep couldn't help but glow with pride when the pretty little thing praised his battling skill. She had complemented him. After her final words, stating that she was truly sorry and would not underestimate him again, the fire type looked up at Kreep with hopeful eyes. Kreep couldn't help having his negative feelings towards the growlithe melt away from the brightness of those eyes. "Welf, I amsh prethy shtronght," the bellsprout boasted. "Alshright Ranith, apolishy ashepted," he finished, feeling in a conciderably better mood. Still, Kreep didn't want to hang around with Rani for the time being. "I hafshta goeth bringhth theshe stickths to... Shierkth... but firsht I'd liketh to shay that I could beath shyou evenf ifsh you dith haff fireth shtype athackths," and with that, Kreep walked away towards Shierk. Yeah... he was a pretty good fighter, wasn't he? He was the champ...

Rokan's eyes were trained vigilantly on Shierk and his work. However, though her sight was occupied by him, her ears were pricked, even her faulty one, to hear what Kreep and Rani said. Apparently she found it in her holier than thou little body to apologize. Hmph, at least she wasn't a complete loss.

Then she realized Kreep was coming over to them. She hastily allowed her ear to flop over uselessly and struck up a conversation with Shierk.

"How's it coming, sparky?" she asked nonchalantly. She hadn't meant to call him sparky, and she only realized that she'd done it at all several seconds after it had passed her lips. But she wasn't too concerned. Nicknames flew commonly among comrades, especially in this field of work. Besides, she hadn't meant anything by it. He would surely know that.

Mollified, she shook herself to ward off the lethargy that was leadening her limbs. "There's no way I'm this tired," she grumbled, feelings her shoulders slump slightly.
