pokemon naming a thing of the past ?

Personally I don't name them just because it's easier to say "this is my Bellossom" than "this is my Bellossom she's called [insertnamehere]" I find naming pretty pointless really =/

I always, always, always name my pokemon. To me it's like getting a dog and calling it 'Dog' for the rest of its life.
My favorites:
F. Lucario: Lyla (pronounced LEE-la)
M. Growlithe: Firecloud
F. Persian: Twilight
M. Treecko: Aptrix
F. Venusaur: Sebulba (That was from Star Wars. I couldn't resist.)
M. Aron (shiny): Orion

I might have to borrow that name Twilight. Its pretty for a Mesprit.

I nicname my pokemon

my favorite is EmColdEon the Empoleon

i like to give my pokemon weird names but after many many years of naames some of them are less creative such as my cyndaquil, bob then theres some realllyu nice ones like kyra my luxaray

I never named my Pokemon in the games. I just thought it was absolutely retarded. I don't know why exactly.

I nickname those who can be nicknamed (not obtained in a trade). I like those stupid names more than those that are really thought through.

Like:
Exeggutor: Aubergine (another name for eggplant)
Persian: Aristocat
Fearow: Beakly (from Ms. Beakly of Ducktales)
Starmie: Orbit
Torterra: Snappy
Raichu: Electron

And so on...

I like the Name Orbit, I think I will borrow that nick from you. *.^

I've never named my pokemon.
Ever.
But I could see a tactiful advantage with it though.
You could lure out you opponent's fire pokemon by naming your Starmie,"Sceptile".
And then they will be tricked XD

How when they would clearly see a Starmie came out by picture, unless they are a complete airhead.

Unless I am mistaken, I believe it says "Opponent is about to bring out NAME, do you want to change Pokemon?" all before any picture is revealed.

It is not lie that on Wifi, only ingame and they dont think.

Personally, I have never nicknamed my Pokémon in any game that I have played. I really don't see the point in it to be honest. Plus, the original name's of the pokémon are usually pretty cool; so I don't really ever see the need to change them.

Personally, I think not nicknaming is as bizzare as calling your dog Dog. =o I name all the Pokemon that I'm actually likely to use, though I don't nickname the ones that are just caught for the sake of completeness. Thinking up lots of names can be difficult sometimes, but you can always just scroll through the dictionary 'till you find an interesting word.

it never existed with me it was rubbish

I nickname most of my pokemon their original japanese names because I feel that it is paying tribute to the guy who made pokemon by calling them by the true names he gave them.(BTW, my user name is snorlax's japanese name, and snorlax is my favorite pokemon.)

in the past couple of years i have only come across few trainers who actually still name their pokemon this anoys me as i think pokemon should have names it makes them so much cooler ive named every pokemon (except 2 or so) even if i didnt like them idd still name them no one else seems to anymore do you agree or is it just the trainers ive met that dont care about names

The people you've managed to talk to have all been extremely unoriginal, in my opinion. I normally nickname a couple of my Pokémon and so do the people I know who play Diamond and Pearl. It's not as if nicknaming Pokémon is a thing of the past, it's probably the same as it was back in the day or even better. I never nicknamed any of my Pokémon in the Blue & Red era and I shared that in common with a lot of people I knew. If anything, nicknaming Pokémon is better these days than it was back in the day.

I absolutely hate that nintendo has to make all the pokemon's name CAPITAL! It's so annoying! And because of that, I name every single one of my pokemon. I thought about just naming them their regular name, but with regular case, but if they evovle, that would not make sense. So yeah, every single one of my pokemon have unique names.
