    ABOUT THE SOUNDTRACK

Seeing as the soundtrack recently leaked, I figured it was time to talk about it.
Here is a playlist of the tracks : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0YN3mEp0MJN7vWaV4D0Xbb-GWopE9iYK that Crunchii uploaded from the game.
I found the soundtrack to be very well done on the ambient side, like the peaceful towns, but a little disappointing on the action side (battle themes), in comparison with the original game. It's both a very good surprise and a slight bitter taste in the back of the throat.
What do you think? Happy or disappointed?
The Petalburg City theme might be a personal favourite. :)

    METAL VERSIONS OF THE SOUNDTRACK

In love with the Pokemon tracks since their early 8 bits, I am a musician, kind of a one man band, and I have made Metal remixes of some of its music and also other games.
Wild Battle from Pokemon ORAS :

Elite Four Theme from Pokemon ORAS:

Littleroot Town from Pokemon ORAS :

I am currently working on more Pokemon ORAS!
I will continue my work on Pokemon and also other video games (such as Zelda Majora's Mask for example) but I really really need your support to keep going! So, make sure you hit a like, leave your feedback here or on Youtube and subscribe because I will definitely make more and more in the close future.
Also, leave your requests if you feel like it!

I will edit this post as your requests / my remixes find their way through, so that everything is accessible at once.

The Pokémart theme, Route 120 and Mt. Chimney amde me go "wow". And
    Spoiler:
battle theme is gorgeous. I can't wait until the soundtrack is released to get my hands on it.

From what I've heard so far I'm really impressed. I've only heard a small selection of tracks including the Cycling Theme, Secret Base theme etc and I can't wait to hear the rest!

The themes that made me go absolutely wow were the Groudon/Kyogre battle theme as well as Maxie/Archie's. They just sound so much more robust.

Another one worth mentioning is Steven's. Really love the enhanced version - in fact more than the original.
Trick house is fun too. Rival battle also sounds better than the original.

Of course, not every theme is perfectly remastered. I was extremely disappointed with the E4 theme. It doesn't seem as intense, and the claps are gone!

Frankly, I'm bummed. The OST here is so hit and miss. The tracks that had brass really got it bad especially.

My biggest problem is that they're barely actual remixes. Really seems to me the composer just changed the instruments from the original MIDI to synth and kept the arrangement the exact same, which is disappointing. They sound the same but they don't blow my ears off because the instrument choices are so incoherent and random. The grunt music is so bad in particular.

It's especially jarring since I'm coming from Tropical Freeze, which did remixes so right. (Original - Remix) :(

I do like the Primal Groudon/Kyogre theme, though. It's ace.

If I could recall, HGSS received quite a number of complaints about the music being "too far off" the originals. I enjoyed the new music more than the GB sounds to be honest.

For ORAS, 80-90% of the themes are near identical to the originals... And I'm really glad that GF has remastered most of them beautifully. Hoenn already has good music to begin with so I guess it's fine.

Disagreed. I dislike the synth used here. They sound flat and cheap, and doesn't blow your ears off like the original OST did. A lot of the tracks sound very mediocre, and there just isn't enough brass. Some came out fine, but then you have Route 119 and Vs Magma/Aqua Grunt that are just flat out weak and don't have the same power as the original. (Even the anime got the Grunt theme right!)
I honestly had no prior attachment to GSC's soundtrack when I played HG/SS but I didn't think HG/SS's OST was any special.

They're not just near identical, they ARE identical. I'm pretty sure it's just replaced instruments actually, because it definitely sounds like it. To bring up another Tropical Freeze example, one where the remix actually sounds a lot like the original, since it did it so brilliantly, the Lockjaw's Saga remix in Tropical Freeze's Irate Eight sounds nearly identical, but in reality actually adds more to it while retaining the spirit of the original, yet it has its own identity with the techno direction it took. (Makes sense with the level's theme)
RSE and DKC2 are both OSTs that are very near dear to me, and Tropical Freeze's remixes were a love letter and the kind that I wanted, whereas ORAS just took away what I mostly loved about the original's tracks, mainly the brass.

I don't think it's terrible, I'm just disappointed. I was expecting more and was hoping it'd blow me away like the original OST did, but alas.

I won't want to change your opinion but it's really obvious that ORAS themes are NOT identical to RSE ones... And I don't mean it in a good way.

Just listen to some mashups on YouTube and you'll see what I mean. The GBA themes have more variety. ORAS left them out. They are not exactly the same.

Some themes do have another "take" that sounded really good - such as the Magma Aqua leader... And there are those which sounded outright boring like the E4 battle theme... At least in my opinion.

I couldn't have said it better, AltiusX! That's what I wanted to answer. Most of the remixes are not a copy of their original, composing-wise, and you can hear different melodies added and deleted. And it both makes some tracks so good and some others bad. For example, the wild battle theme sounded amazing in the original, but here, not only did they change the instruments, but they also changed some of the french horn melody that made the original so awesome. As a result, the remix is in my opinion less good than the original.

So, no, they're definitely not identical.

I wasn't really talking literally when I said that. My bad for phrasing it poorly.

Even then, they hardly sound like remixes. The differences in the compositions are pretty minimal. I still stand by saying that they sound awfully flat and generic in comparison.

Well, since this is about the soundtrack, I think.
I really enjoyed the soundtrack for Pokemon ORAS, it's a shame that Shota Kageyama didn't work on the soundtrack as he left Game Freak after Pokemon X & Y.

    Awesome! Thank you for sharing!

This music in this game blew me away. I love dive theme so much just like I hoped I would. I find myself listening to it when I want to relax. I also like the Encounter! Pokémaniac theme too. I remember really liking that encounter music when I was a kid so to hear it remixed so well was a real treat. I always listen to the track the whole way through when I encounter a Pokémaniac. I can't help it!
I really love the Drought music as well. It is probably the scariest track I've heard in a Pokémon game so far imho. It gave the Unown tune (Which I found to be the creepiest track in a Pokémon game for a while) from GSC a run for its money. It just gives me the feeling that the world is going to be destroyed and everyone is basically roasting to death. Really creepy and really awesome.
