Shaun walked through the forest, his eyes trailing over the blackened trees. Each leaf and trunk had sharp edged on it. He wasn't sure if they were poisoned, thanks to the contamination, but he wished he could experiment. What a shame he didn't have an Eevee. He had heard one of the evolutions was created thanks to a certain type of moss. What would happen if he used these leaves?
Grabbing a spare paper bag in his backpack, he carefully put some of the sharp leaves and spikes from the tree into the bag and put it safely into his backpack. While he didn't know if they would be useful, there was always future experimentation when he had the time.
"Misss," a ghostly voice wailed, causing Shaun to jerk his body toward the voice. There, right in front of him, was a purple and gray ghost floating in front of him with a mischievious smirk.
"Go, Bulbasaur!" Shaun snapped, nodding to the grass type that had been trailing by his feet.
"Saur!" Bulbasaur cried, jumping forward.
"Mis mis!" Misdreavus said happily, grinning mockingly at the overeager grass type.
"Leech Seed," Shaun ordered.
"Sub!" Seed shooting out of Bulbasaur's bulb, it landed on the ghost type and wrapped tight vines around the shocked ghost type and sucked away its energy.
"Miis!" Misdreavus cried, eyes glowing a soft purple as it shot a Psywave attack at Bulbasaur.
"Bulba!" Bulbasaur cried, the beam hitting its side, causing more mental than physical pain.
"Bulbasaur, Vine Whip," Shaun snapped at his pokemon. "And dodge those attacks. We can't afford to have you get hurt right now.
"Bulba!" Bulbasaur barked in understanding, running at the grimacing ghost type. "Saurr!" Bulbasaur cried, vines whipping out speedily and slapping the ghost type right in the face.
"Misd!" Misdreavus cried, spinning in the air from the slap in the face. "Mis Mid!" the ghost type cried angrily, ignoring the pain from the Leech Seed this time. "Miiis!" Misdreavus screamed, charging at Bulbasaur, her body glowing purple.
"An Astonish attack... Dodge!" Shaun barked out quickly.
"Bulbaa!" the grass type snarled, jumping high into the air and twisting its body out of the way.
"Mis," Misdreavus growled angrily, face turning to see Bulbasaur fly past just mere inches away before her eyes widened in shock.
"Sa," Bulbasaur smirked, urged on by Shaun's next command. "Bulba!" Vines whipping out, Bulbasaur slapped the ghost type a good three times. Twice in the face, and the final third, right in the back, where she was slammed to the ground.
"Miss," Misdreavus hissed, floating back into the air with a grimace. She sneered at the grass type, angered by the humulation it was inflicting upon her. She could make out the other Misdreavus's and Shuppet's in the trees, silently laughing at her plight. "Dreeeavus!" she screamed, eyes glowing fiercely as she shot off Psywave after Psywave.
"Dodge all of them!" Shaun ordered.
"Sau," Bulbasaur gulped, jumping and twisting and dodging all the attacks that came his way. "Sab," Bulbasaur grimaced, finally getting hit as two twisting beams finally made a hit. There were only so many ways the bulgy grass type could doge.
"Bulbasaur, are you still able to battle?" Shaun asked of his pokemon.
Giving a loud huff, Bulbasaur shook himself, bulb wobbling a bit. "Sar!" Bulbasaur barked, nodding. A slight grin appeared on his face as Misdreavus cried out, the Leech Seed taking away her energy. Bulbasaur gave a sigh as he recieved some of that energy to heal.
"Good; now use Vine Whip!" Shaun demanded.
"Bulbaa!" Bulbasaur roared, charging forward angrily, vines snapping about.
"Mis!" Misdreavus cried, firing more Psywaves.
"Ba! Ba! Ba!" Bulbasaur cried each time he jumped to the side, missing each Psywave with a cocky grin. "Saar!" Vines snapping forward, Bulbasaur slapped the ghost type two times with its two whips, getting high pitched screech of pain each time.
"Mis! Mis!" Misdreavus cried out, eyes glowing a quicky gray before falling to the ground.
"Bu," Bulbasaur winced, feeling the Spite attack drain some of its power.
"Finish it," Shaun commanded. "We need to keep moving."
"Sar," Bulbasaur said with an eager grin. Red eyes staring into the dull eyes of Misdreavus, Bulbasaur let the ghost type see its cocky grin before slamming it into the world of unconciousness with its vines. "Bulba!"
Shaun watched the ghost type faint right there. Its body randomly became see-through. Around him, other ghost types of the forest began to creep out and openly mock the defeated ghost type. Some of them turned to Shaun eagerly.
Aura...
Shadow...
Darkling...
Their whispers carried throughout the forest, making Bulbasaur shift nervously. While he understood what they were saying, Shaun didn't. He just watched them with a sort of detached interest. Bulbasaur noticed his trainer take a deep breath, as if finding a scent. Could he smell what the darkness smelled like? It was a scent that either appealed to you or didn't, but humans couldn't smell it. They had such horrible senses. While the smell never bothered Bulbasaur, and he knew Sneasel loved the smell, he was beginning to wonder if it was having an impact on his trainer...
"Let's go," Shaun commanded, walking forward.
Bulbasaur followed, red eyes watching the ghost type pokemon make a path willingly...
