Pokemon / sets you don't like using

Title says it all, what Pokemon / Pokemon sets don't appeal to you?

For me, I don't like using Mega Manectric; I hate how it doesn't hit hard enough to fare decently against any team but hyper offense. I also don't like CroCune in OU and heavily prefer an offensive CM set, since CroCune (and Roar Cune too) is waaay too passive for my liking, and +1 Modest HPump hits decently hard even with the 90 SpA. It has its pros over Keldeo in much higher overall bulk and access to Ice Beam.

Almost any OU and UBERS for me. I love the Pokemon we find in the NU, RU and UU tiers, but that's only my opinion. It happen they have my favorite Pokemon lol.
I don't like using a moveset we see on every Pokemon. I like originality.

I don't have a good reason for this, but I don't like normal types very much. There are a few that I really like, but the rest are kinda meh to me. The only normal type I've ever incorporated into a competitive team is Kangaskhan. I should probably work with them more, I might make some normal monotype teams just to get some practice.

Edit: Early in my Pokemon playing days, I used to dread the first Pokemon you encounter on routes that were only normal types (ex. Bidoof in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum). They annoyed me to no end, I hated encountering them all the time, so maybe that's why I tend to avoid normal types.

With TR they can but it screws pokes that are naturally fast and hard hitters.

That's why you don't put any particularly fast Pokemon on a TR team. If you make a Trick Room team and then put Raikou or M-Loppunny on it or something, it's not the best team building.

To answer the question at hand though, I'm not that fond of Chansey. With Knock Off and Psyshock everywhere, it's just not as good as it used to be.

While this is technically true, you could say this for many Pokemon. Floatzel has its pros over Keldeo in a higher speed stat and better coverage moves. Gorebyss has its pros over Keldeo in access to Shell Smash. Doesn't mean they're worth running over Keld, at least 99.9% of the time. Specs Keld completely outclasses offensive Suicune and is one of the top three Pokemon in the current OU metagame.

Chansey is disgusting, going to have to agree with gimmepie on that one. Also absolutely hate running passive Pokemon like Skarmory, even though I love Skarmory's design to death - just wish it was viable as an offensive Pokemon. :'[ Still on my dream team though.

As for just simply sets, WOW/Tailwind/generally defensive Talonflame variants make me feel like the Pokemon is being used wrong. Gale Wings is literally Game Freak telling us it's an offensive Pokemon. I've just never found it that great outside of priority Brave Bird - which obviously makes it amazing, nothing against priority Brave Bird, it just in my opinion is its only mechanic worth utilizing.

I would argue that you're better off running Acrobatics with no item. It's still made into a priority move and nearly as powerful but doesn't give you recoil.

Pretty sure Sharp Beak Brave Bird gives you very necessary damage increase compared to Acro. I would calc but I'm at school. IMO Talon's raw power is extremely laughable and if it's trying to be offensive it's not meant to take hits anyway, it's mainly to just plow through weakened teams with priority BB. If your team needs it to take on the role of more of a mid-game wallbreaker, you should run Acro over BB, but that's not a role Talon does well in the first place.

I've run both before and honestly the difference is negligible (or it seems like it). I don't like using Pokemon with a continuous role non-continuously. Like, if you're a lead then your role is over after like the first four-six turns. You can die and not effect the team or the way the rest of the match goes. If you're a wall breaker, you're not really needed if your opponent has no bulk left.

If you're a generally offensive Pokemon or a cleaner (roles Talon fills beautifully) then either you have a role that doesn't end or isn't over until the end of the game. So it's kind of wasteful to just let you die and potentially harmful to the results of the game. Maybe I've got a weird outlook though, I dunno.

I think it might help your view that you seem to have a general dislike for defensive strategies too, but that's just something I'm picking up from this thread xD

it's not like your points aren't valid but my point is acrobatics isn't maximizing talonflame' best role and potential as a Pokemon. sure it's a 'good' offensive Pokemon but it's best use is priority sweeping late-game once the opposing team has been weakened or crippled. at that point hp on talon isn't needed over less damage. it's a matter of using talonflame to its best ability. I just feel other Pokemon outclass it when it uses acro or a defensive set.

you're right that I prefer an offensive playstyle but that doesn't mean I can't see a defensive teams merits. in fact it's much easier and requires an immensely lower amount of skill to play defense. but defensive talon isn't as good as other defensive mons. could be just my preference. feel free to run wow/taunt/roost to your hearts content.

Yeah fair enough I guess. This whole thread is about personal opinion anyway xD

I don't care much for using Zard Y. It's fallen a bit in popularity but even when it was used more, I was never a fan. It's in a bad speed tier and requires a ton of support to ensure rocks aren't up. It's a fantastic mon offensively but just isn't my style I guess.

    Calm Mind Primal Kyogre
This rarely finds any opprotunity to set up Calm Minds due to how easy it is to pressure. Because it needs to run a fair amount of Speed EVs to actually do anything, Primal Kyogre's crappy physical bulk in a metagame infested with dangerous physical threats such as Primal Groudon really "shines". This means it is difficult for Primal Kyogre to switch in on very many things. I suppose it is decent against the balance teams that are becoming quite common and is less passive than other Primal Kyogre variants, but I still don't like it very much. I prefer defensive Primal Kyogre, which is a brilliant mixed wall and sleep absorber. Each to their own.

    Aromatisse
With Mega Steelix being such a dominant force in RU, Aromatisse falls very flat in a lot of situations. Its first problem is that it is slower and less bulky than Alomomola, which means it faces considerable competition for a teamslot. While Aromatisse can provide Aromatherapy support, the fact it is so easy to pressure means that passing Wishes is quite difficult for it. In addition, being a sitting duck for Mega Steelix's Heavy Slam while being incapable of doing anything back really stinks. Alomomola can at least fish for Scald burns. Mega Steelix is currently being suspect tested, so if it is banned, Aromatisse will improve. However, Aromatisse is currently not one of my favourite Pokemon to use for the aforementioned reasons.
