Pokemon should be upgraded

    Hi,
so I've wanted to discuss this, the pokemon games should all start with red/green/blue/yellow games, then have an expansion for the gold/silver games and then expand it again and again... but keeping the pokemons you've already have, just having an upgrade with the new game and new graphics but keeping your old information and all your badges from all regions. does that make any sense?

This isn't about HGSS, that's for sure, so this topic doesn't fit here. I'll move this to Pokemon Gaming Central for you and see what people there think, as this idea applies to all games.

However I disagree with this as firstly - what happens when your Pokemon hit the level 100s before you reach the end? Plus it'll never happen anyways IMO as Game Freak keeps it to one new region each game - a game with everything in it would hurt their sales in the long term as why would people buy other games when there's one with all the regions in it, and why make a game that would have issues from memory space to making it all fit together, when how they do it now makes them record sales?

And if you mean downloadable content... such 'upgrades' would be huge and very hard to implement, ignoring Nintendo's general lack of content updates as well.

but the thing is that you could just download the data from your old game into your new game so you won't have to trade all pokemon with yourself, and keeping your ID number and all through the whole series. i don't think it would hurt sales at all, you would just have to catch the new pokemon since the old ones have been kinda left out anyway. i don't know, maybe i'm being too idealist and less redundant. =)

idk. I like things how they are. :( I wouldn't want everything on one cart being expanded. Plus, this wouldn't make for a very good idea in terms of challenges.

Essentially meaning people would only have to pay for one game (so no more profits after that for a good while), or one has to pay to 'upgrade', which would be for suited to say PC games instead of Nintendo hardware. Mind you, yet gaain making the downloadable content without it clashing with anything would be very hard, and unnecessary effort from changing the current formula they use which is tried and tested. How I see it anyways.

I am all for multiple regions and all that comes along with it in one game. But expanding it and having too start out in Kanto is not something I would care much for. And this as it is presented in this topic will probably never happen. I believe in games like Halo or Call of Duty they have new maps too play every now and them. Maybe if they had something where you could download new areas too expand the playing area and have more too do from time to time that would seem a little more plausible.

Yeah, they probably don't want to mess with success. I can't imagine them changing their marketing strategy unless sales start to go down the tubes. Which isn't likely anytime soon.
