((Wow, I'm behind...Haven't even reached the first gym.))
The caw of a distant bird Pokemon woke Silver in the middle of the night. He was groggy at first, but soon remembered what he must do and filled with energy. He quickly formed a plan in his mind; Drag Chikorita out into the open and wait for a Ghost Pokemon. He knew that most of them knew Dream Eater, and would not argue with an already sleeping target. He just had to issue a challenge before Chikorita was attacked.
Silver began putting his plan into motion, which he had decided to call 'Operation Decoy Dream'. He began by pulling his jacket, with a sleeping Chikorita on it, outside of the camp he had built. Then, he sat and waited behind a bush for a Ghost to appear. It was very boring, waiting in the middle of the night for a Pokemon to come and attack his friend, but he somehow managed to keep his eyes open. About half an hour into the stakeout, something finally appeared. It looked like a balloon with two sticks for legs, and had birdlike facial features. Silver had read about this Pokemon before; Fuwante, the Ghost/Flying type Pokemon. It normally only appeared near areas with high concentrations of hydroelectricity, and there was not even a river nearby. The Fuwante examined Chikorita closely, and once it saw that it would not be harmed, it moved on to a different area. Silver was glad it did; He was not very fond of Fuwante's appearance. It seemed a bit strange to him.
Nearly an hour later, there was a rustle in the leaves under a tree, and a Ralts popped out. It took a few steps and tripped over a root, and Silver held back a laugh. The Ralts continued onwards, approaching Chikorita with caution. It quickly poked the Grass Pokemon, who sprang up and used Tackle immediately. Ralts, who had been startled and dropped its guard, was hit head-on by the attack. It flew back and knocked against a tree, and Silver ran out to his Pokemon and bent down to comfort it. He then looked over to the tree to find that the Ralts was knocked out at the base of it. With a heavy sigh Silver held an empty PokeBall up and pressed the button, absorbing the fainted Pokemon in a beam of red light.

The next morning, Silver awoke in the middle of the day only to find Chikorita eating some of the local berries. Judging by their patterns and textures, they seemed to be Petaya berries, which would not help Chikorita out at all. Silver sat up and stretched, feeling a PokeBall unhook from his belt and roll a foot away from him. He reached over and grabbed it, tossing it in the air with a flick of his wrist. It opened, and Mitsu appeared in the air. She seemed to be in a cheery mood, as always, and flew over to join Chikorita in eating the pile of berries. Silver felt his belt for a third PokeBall and opened it without unhooking it, causing his new Ralts to appear. Chikorita waved happily at the Pokemon, who seemed dazed and confused. Mitsu stopped eating and stared at it curiously, then said something to Chikorita. The Grass Pokemon nodded, and picked a berry up in its mouth. It brought the berry to Ralts, who slowly took it and accidentally dropped it on the ground. Chikorita picked it up again, and Ralts took a firm grip of it this time. It nibbled on it for a second, then smiled and stuffed the rest of it in its mouth.
"Hello there." Silver reached his hand out to shake the hand of his new team mate. Ralts saw this as a threat, and backed away slowly. Chikorita sighed and shook its head, then walked towards the outstretched hand and extended a paw. Silver shook the paw, then Chikorita stepped aside and motioned for Ralts to try. The Pokemon carefully approached its new trainer, then stuck out its hand and made contact. Silver grasped its hand gently and shook it, then let go and stood up. Mitsu flew up to eye level with him and offered him a berry, which he politely refused with a shake of his head. Turning to Ralts, he decided to inform the Pokemon of what was going on.
"Now then...Let me start by apologizing to everyone for last night. Chikorita, I should have told you that I would use you like that, but then I thought you would not fall asleep. Mitsu, I should have woken you up right after Ralts was added to our team. Ralts, I should have spoken to you first instead of setting up a trap. However, I was thinking a Ghost Pokemon would show up instead of you." Chikorita and Mitsu both waved the apology away, telling Silver that they did not mind. However, Ralts took a second to think before speaking to Chikorita. The Grass Pokemon nodded, and turned to Silver. It then began to act out what had just been said. First it started by tripping and falling, then dropping a berry and falling again. Silver took a second to understand it, then spoke.
"Ah, so you're accident-prone. Does that mean you knew you would do something dumb like get caught?" Ralts nodded, and Silver thought this over. He was torn between releasing the Ralts out of pity, and keeping it for the gym battle ahead. Once he made up his mind, he sat down next to Ralts and turned to face it.
"If you want to leave, then just say the word and you're free. But I could really use you ahead. If you decided to come with me, then we would look out for you. This is not a team, and I am not just the trainer. This is a family. Families watch out for each other." Ralts thought over the proposition, then looked at the dense woodlands around. It turned to Chikorita, who had been sitting and suddenly sprung up, and began talking again. Chikorita turned to Silver and pointed to the forest, then made a motion that obviously meant 'through'. Silver nodded and turned back to Ralts.
"There's a whole world through the forests. What do you say? Are you going to stay or go?" Ralts looked around at Mitsu and Chikorita, who both smiled, then back at Silver and nodded. The young trainer beamed with joy and addressed all of his Pokemon.
"Then it's settled. We leave in ten minutes."
