The Pokemon franchise has gone a long way before reaching the popularity it has nowadays. For 15 years, they gave us more than enough games and other canons for us to enjoy. We have made memories that will not fade even after 15 more years.

So let us look back and realize how Pokemon impacted on us. Let's ask ourselves: did it turn me into a better person? A better friend? Did I achieve a new attitude by watching the anime? Playing the games? Or reading the manga? What majority of my current lifetime involved Pokemon and how did it affect me as a person?

Share your memories that involved Pokemon affecting you as a person!

It basically turned me into a massive geek. End of story, PTFO.

    In short, this.

I had played one or two video games before playing Pokemon Yellow, but I had never quite gotten myself into them. I played them occasionally. Pokemon was what really hooked me though, and what made me into the video-game fanatic I am today. It shaped my main hobby, which then influenced who I made friends with as a child (obviously leaning towards those with similar game preferences). Now that I look back on it, I worry to think how I might have turned out without Pokemon. :P

    But yes, in short, lolmassivegeeknow.

As a lot of other Pokémon fans would say, Pokémon has provided me with some great memories. I only had to cast one glance at the imaginative animals to get hooked. Similiarly to the creator of Pokémon, Satoshi Tajiri, I have been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrom. And I shared his ability to dive into another universe (e.g. bug collecting). Pokémon is so deep because every single Pokémon has personality, and that personality often reflects the personality of the trainer. You quickly find one or perhaps a dozen that you like in particular, and you feel that you know the Pokémon in question as if it/they is/are real.
It's hard to imagine how my life would've been without Pokémon. But I would probably have been collecting rocks, bones or dust mice instead. Anything that could have let me disconnect myself from the surroundings and just create my own little world.

Yeah. Pokémon has affected my life. I have not ever played any game as much as Pokémon. I became interested in anime when I first time saw episode from Pokémon first season. Pokémon has it's own 'dimension'. I have become ultimate Pokémon nerd. So let's say that Pokémon has been one of my favourite thing in my life.

Like Misheard Whisper said, Pokemon kind of turned me into a geek.

I mean, I only got into the games in the Ruby/Sapphire era, but now I tend to know about how to do things in them. Before that, I was into the anime and trading cards, but I didn't really care about those.

I feel after playing them as long as I have (since 1997) It's helped me be more organised (Bag items, boxes etc). Its also a great memory tutor, what with all the items and sequences Im sure we all have stored in our brains somewhere. Its a very good game for young children I think as it encourages reading, among other things.

Agree with this too. I mean, I just made ton of character tied to pokemon and collecting nearly 1 GB of fan arts.
Not to mention the play hours too.
