Pokemon Universe Q&A

Ghost Pokémon are weak against Dark types for reasons similar to the Psychics: their spiritual sensitivity makes them vulnerable to the dark aura. However, their own mischevious tendencies allow them to attack unhindered.

...except that, upon consulting a type chart, ghost attacks are not very effective on dark types. Maybe X that last sentence off. It's a pretty solid answer, considering how the type matchups were detemined, and it did seem kinda tacked on, anyway... But yeah. Dark > Ghost.

I'm not sure why most starting Gyms are rock, though. Grass and Water both take care of them pretty quickly, and fire types generally have a move or two that gets over their disadvantage... Perhaps it's just because it's a good starter-offer. It fit in very nicely in Oreburgh, anyway.

What always confused me is, since kangaskhan never got a pre evolution, how is it that it already has a baby in its pouch immediately after hatching?

Because it's the "Parent" Pokemon. And because Game Freak simply never designed a sprite without the baby which after a certain period of time would be replaced with one that did have a baby.

Here's something I've always wondered...how are there Pokémon in the wild that haven't even hit their regular requirement for evolution? For example, finding a Lv. 5 Metapod in the wild when they normally evolve at Lv. 7... Are they just born like that? I doubt it, since you can't hatch a second stage of evolution out of an egg :/

AND, what makes a Pokémon evolve in a certain place, like Nosepass evolving into Probopass in Mt. Coronet? Does that mean they wouldn't be able to evolve into Probopass anywhere else?

I'm not sure about the first point of gaining underleveled second-stage Pokemon, but Probopass is gained because of Mt. Coronet's special magnetic field, which is more unique than anywhere else in the world, apparently. And yes, that means that they normally wouldn't be able to evolve into Probopass elsewhere (unless another mountain/area had an identicle or similar magnetic field to Mt. Coronet).

Concerning how Scientist explained how pokemon are captured, how was it that Ash was able to capture a rice ball.

For refrence, you'll click on the link in the first post, and find the episode in which Ash catches his Primape.

Going back to a couple of things:

Meowth (and to a lesser extent, Persian) have coins in their foreheads because they're based on the Japanese Maneki Neko [Lucky Cat] which is believe to bring wealth to the beholder. Thus, Meowth has a coin, and also that's where the move Pay Day comes from.

Ivysaur, and other plants, can spit seeds because (I think) they're partially based on this type of plant that actually does spit its seeds. I can't remember what it's called, but I remember seeing it on a program and saying "Ha! It's using Leech Seed!" to confusion from my parents. I think there's also plants that explode in order to spread their seeds... the point it, it's based on a form of seed distribution.

Something I want to know is, what's Chingling supposed to be? I mean, all the 'mons are based on something... I'm guessing a bell of some sort? :) but I've never seen a bell like that.

Have you ever sung "Jingle Bells"? It's that kind of a bell. Small and round with an opening.

Exploding plants? I may be completely wrong, but are you perhaps thinking of puffball mushrooms?

Where did Pokemon originally came from as in Space? or another demontion? or same way as humans just poped on earth

It actually seems pretty likely that some Pokemon came from space, if only nearby. The existence of Deoxys, Jirachi and Lunatone seems to indicate that there is life confirmed elsewhere in their Earth's solar system. Here's a theory: Arceus created space and time, and shortly afterwards Sinnoh, expanding to Earth and the solar system, expanding outward from there with stars and planets to fill space. Once everything was set up, he slept. Mew began producing offspring, some of which were born on other bodies close by Earth, namely Mars and Earth's moon. In Lunatone and Solrock's case, perhaps the asteroid belt was their home. I would guess Clefairy came to Earth when some large catastrophe happened on the moon, blowing chunks of rock to Earth (perhaps some artificial cavern, such as the stone on Mt. Moon), and as the ages passed the moon regained a spherical shape and became desolate. Other beings came back to Earth in a variety of ways.

# >.<' Ah! Fail! I meant Chimecho! *curses idiocy with a spoon*

As for the plants, I found out, there's one called the Peruvian Lily which has an exploding seed pod. Scotch broom and goarse has a seed pod with valves that cause explosion under heat. The sandbox tree can actually explode its seed with enough force to send then fourteen metres (that sounds a lot like a 'Saur!)

People report that plants called Euphorbias explode and you can actually get hurt by the flying seeds. Again, this sounds like a 'Saur shooting seeds from its bulb.

*yay for Google*

I don't think it's ever been said. I think it's just a representation of the real-life conflict between snakes and mongooses (mongeese?), as Seviper is a snake and Zangoose is a mongoose.

I wish I could tell you more, but Bulbapedia's server is down :p.

Yea, either way, it probably involved on of them getting there butt wooped and then retaliating over and over again.

PLUS i check it earlier they didn't really say anything about there conflict, only saying that they hate each other and that they'll fight to the death.

WHY does Slakoth begin lazy, evolve to become not lazy, and then evolve again to be lazy? >__<"

I think its because its first stage just saving up its energy, in second form the Pokemon go all out and full of energy and last one , portraits lose of energy and relaxation.

In places like India, where snakes and mongooses (agains, mongeese...?) live, they have always fought. Snakes butt in where they shouldn't, and mongooses/geese like to eat snakes when they're butted in...

It's a vicious circle.

Also, Zangoose is awesome.
