I've been hearing stories like this for years but it never gets easy to hear, a dog that poses no threat gets murdered by Police Officers who last i checked were meant to protect and serve not gun down the family pet.

Makes it harder to have respect for the police where they're shooting harmless dogs and unarmed people juts because of the colour of their skin,

This isn't like a new thing, there have been ton similar instances as the police don't really have much protocol when it comes to dealing with pets.

The article says that the family dog was part Pit Bull, and knowing the reputation that breed is given (depending on how terrible their owners raised them), I could understand why the officer had to defend himself from it. It also didn't mention the dog posing no threat to anyone other than its own family. However, I do agree that shooting it should've been a last resort if all else fails to keep it from viciously attacking.

for cases where an animal gets shot for no really good reason, sure some of you know how i feel. :|

i could only understand and agree with such actions when it is a huge ass animal like a big bear thats literally already trying to put you in their mouth or something(unless you a murderer or did something bad to the animal/bear because then in my opinion you deserve to die anyways), only then i could understand because then its clear, who is going to live, you or the bear.

Malone said the officer initially told her the dog had lunged at him through the fence. According to the Wynnewood police chief, the dog charged the officer. While he declined our multiple requests for a recorded interview, Chief Ken Moore said the officer told him the dog was vicious and attacked him by coming around the corner of the house. Moore said the officer tried to kick the dog off him once and then shot him.

However, the chief said he had not seen video of the aftermath of the shooting which was provided to FOX 25. The video shows the dead dog with a gunshot wound to his head lying near the fence, not near the house.

The officer went to his vehicle to get a high powered rifle to shoot the dog, which i don't particularly think is something you do when you're in a hurry while being attacked by a dog. Plus there's the above contradiction in his statement vs the scene?

It seems tragic for that family, and something very unnecessary either way
