This is the hardest choice I've made so far, and likely the hardest I'll make this tournament. I like both their default designs and customization options pretty much equally. As a tiebreaker, though, I'm going to go with their rival designs. Hatless Serena doesn't look nearly as cool because her hat is such an important part of her default outfit, while Calem's design arguably works even better without the hat, so I'm going with Calem. If nothing else, at least it makes this vote less of a landslide.

Oh boy, do I have a few stories from back in the day! That said, I wouldn't call inspiring that level of passion a point against her.

Curiously, last I checked the Twitter poll was even stevens between the two, unlike the poll here so far.

I didn't care much for the XY anime, but Serena has some of the best outfits and is an overall great design. Meanwhile I don't find Calem to be too memorable.. of course him not showing up in the anime is a massive contributor, but their roles in the games weren't great either. Serena all the way!

Serena smashed it in the end, primarily because of the poll here. Congrats to the star of the Kalos anime I suppose!
