I read on SPP that poor old wallace has been givem the boot in emarald

Do you think this is fair?

Mwar, I actually heard he's the Champion in Emerald.

No. He is the champion in Emerald and he uses water pokemon. Not ice. And he is the 8th Gym Leadder in Ruby and Sappgire.

No. Poor Wally. He was very helpful to me. He gave my Breloom experience points which made him learn Sky Uppercut. That helped anginst Sindey. He is a good trainer and he can help your pokemon. :(

Wallace is a pretty crummy choice for Champion....I mean, he uses a mono-water team....that makes him the easiest champ ever to sweep by just picking the right type. Steven at least had some unusual pokemon that were a bit hard to figure how to deal with.

Besides, Wallace earns my eternal dislike for using Luvdisc. That ranks all the way up there with Bugsy using unevolved cocoons.

mayb for you, but i found wallace to be the hardest of the gym leaders (and mayb the hardest in the game). they only pkmn i had that was SE was oddish, and all his guys have ice beam. my starter was no use, cause i picked torchic. great, now o have a lot of fun to look foreward to in emrald, my least favorite gym leader the champ.

Wallace... good thing he ditches his Luvdisc when he is a champion XD
His new cloak makes him look much cooler too :)

Wallace...he is not that much of a challenge. As to being the most difficult gym leader...well that's a matter of opinion. Let me put it this way. I don't see why they made him the eighth and most difficult gym. Then again that could just be me.

One word - Gardevoir, use Shock Wave/Thunderbolt. :P Usually each of his pok?mon faint in one hit. :P

What happened to Steven then if hes no longer champ?

Nope. After the Leauge you will see him in Metor Falls.

Steven is at Meteor Falls now. He's kind of like Red in G/S/C, but doesn't have a weak level 81 pokemon.

Oh man not another change in Emerald man they have changed so much stuff around that i'm going to re think buying it.

For everyone who thinks Wallace is going to be a lousy Champion just because he uses water-types, JUST YOU WAIT. I've played the Japanese version of Emerald, and let's just say that in addition to no Luvdisc, his new team will give all of you underestimaters out there a nasty surprise. You might still beat him on your first try, sure, but his team'll give you a run for your money. I personally found him more difficult to defeat than Steven or Lance. Heck, Lance's team was easier to defeat with electricity than Wallace's was.

EDIT: And I, for one, respect Wallace more for his use of the Luvdisc during his tenure as the 8th Gym Leader. True, it's easy to OHKO the wussy little thing, but having the Luvdisc is, to me, such an expression of style--the most personality I've ever seen put into a team! And once I didn't OHKO Ms. Luvdisc because I thought I could get EXP for one of my slightly weaker PKMN on the Luvdisc, and things got real nasty real quick (didn't help that my PKMN and the Luvdisc were of opposite genders).

*waits to fend off more Wallace-bashing once Emerald comes out here*

True, Wallace wasn't weak in Emerald at all, especially when I used similar level pokemon :) Ludicolo and Wailord nearly defeated me...

Odd, he was still quite easy to beat for me in Emerald. Not saying he's weak though, just I had pretty high level pok?mon. :P

There are very few water types outside of the legendary ones that can't be countered pretty easily, and since thunderbolt is learnable by quite a few good special attackers, I can't see how a pure water champion would be much challenge. That was the gimmick with Blue as champ....he had a varied team, meaning he was one of the only 'boss' trainers you couldn't usually wipe out with one or two pokemon based solely on type. Steven did a decent job with that because of the fairly intelligent movesets on his pokemon and the fact that most were dual typed to make their weaknesses even more specific. (Well....except poor Aggron...)

Yeah, Blue was the only challenging champion. I remember in Red when I fought him the first time in the Pokemon League all my pokemon but my Charizard were dead and I barely beat his Blastoise with Earthquake.

This is true. But Blue is not that hard at all. All you have to have are the type advantages and you're all set. But he is a lot more difficult than Wallace who has all of the same type.
