Popularity of Pokemon Increasing?

I noticed recently that the popularity is increasing. I see a number of kids playing third generation games and also today on Fox & Friends Sunday showed a number of Pokemon toys including Diamond and Pearl on a segment on toys ( not joking ). Has anyone else noticed this as well?

I've noticed it growing in popularity, but none of the things you mentioned. Mostly people not making fun of it anymore, and more people joining forums.

It increases by each generation. In the next year, it may decrease.

I've noticed this but not because just of the new generation, also the 10th anniversary stuff too.

I've seen quite a few forums of people talking about how they use to remember liking Pokemon when they were younger and how they can't believe it's been 10 whole years. I've heard people saying how they want to check out Pokemon again now and stuff. It was pretty cool. I'm also starting to get some people to like Pokemon. I'm planning on buying Diamond & Pearl for them.

I'm really excited and how people are coming back to try Pokemon again and some new people. Hopefully it doesn't die too much next year.

Well sweeties, I assume it slowly increases with a new release of the traditional game, then it's popularity slowly decreases after a year or so. But still sweeties, it's popularity is still strong. =3

    more like the opposite

Even with the release of new games every so often, the popularity rate continues to decline-perhaps rapidly...

The popularity has done quite a bit, but I'm not one to notice. Pokemon has been around for 40% of the time that the Mario games have been being made. Yet, Mario remains the ONLY series that has done better than Pokemon.

I wonder if DP & PBR will cause Pokemon to surpass, at least until Super Mario Galaxy comes out. =O

ive noticed it i think with the release of a new game pokemon popularity increases

Yeah the popularity is increasing each generation all over the world, but I've noticed my friends in my school don't have interest in pokemon like they used to so it could be decreasing. Back in the rby and gsc versions nearly everyone I knew played those games. when the 3rd generation games came out not everyone brought them or played them.

Gold, Silver, and Crystal did very little to help the situation when they came out — not many people had the games to begin with, having just played the TCG — but a resurgence — perhaps to a level of popularity higher than initial — came when Ruby and Sapphire came out. All of the sudden everyone was playing them. Unfortunately, Mystery Dungeon arrived to muted interest (as did Colosseum and XD). I'm not very confident that anyone will be buying Diamond and Pearl, even if they're one of the few I know who own a DS.

Every pokemon generation it gets bigger :)
I think it will get enormous

I am unsure of that because there are only 10 pokemon fans total here where i live...
But since D&P was announced i have noticied it is kind of making a comeback...

I to, have noticed not just an increase in popularity, but also an outburst of the Pokemon franchise. I am constantly seeing comercials and what not, and like Alakazam17 said, Mario is basically the only other Nintendo franchise thats able to compete. If you don't believe me, look at the evidence.

Mario does not have a show, it did, but it sucked, and I don't think anyone ever thought about it reaching a 10th season, which it didn't. On the other hand Pokemon has a show and is approaching its 10th season.

Mario does not have theme park, despite his longevity. Again, on the other hand, Pokemon has a theme park, and its younger than Mario. Now, I'm not saying that a theme park desides wether one franchise is better than the other, but it sure helps.

Know, I love Mario, I grew up with him, but I also grew up with Pokemon, also for you big Mario fans, I'm not bagging on Mario, I'm just showing evidence.
The point I'm just trying to make is that Pokemon is one of Nintendo's main and best franchizes. But time will tell what happens to Pokemon, so I'm not going to predect anthything, I'm just taking a spot in the back seat of this great ride, and enjoy it. ^_^

I can tell that pokemon will live forever and will pwn di$ne# someday

Some people at my school used to like pokemon but now they say

"it zucks. id die. Disney pwns. pokman zucks"

Those words are sure to never get out of my mouth

That, my friend, is called growing up. Sad, I know. u_u
I hate that, you can´t say in public that you like pokemon nowadays, so I think it´s popularity is decreasing.

About the anime, they should forget that Satoshi created pokemon and and because of that he deserves a place in the anime as Ash, and RESTART it.
I see some kids that don´t watch pokemon nowadays, because they don´t understand WHAT is pokemon, HOW it started, WHO are the characters, etc.
Creating a new generation (with Brenadan staring for example) instead of putting the brat (Ash) in a new continent, kids would be able to follow the main story

About the games, I´m OK with D/P, but PBR was made in a hurry
and was released already in Japan, so no upgrades will be made in the american and european versions of the game, so
I think it will be a STADIUM 3, with less buyers than expected.
    :\

About the TCG, it´s popularity is surely increasing, new cards are created every day!:knockedou So I think it will survive:laugh:

Pokémon does not seem to be so popular as it was when it was new. It's harder to find people to play the cards and games with these days. Over 20 people gathered at the Pokémon League where we play the card game. Now there are no more than ten and sometimes none at all. And I know only two friends who play the games.

Pokemon where I am is tottaly uncool and coz I grew up with I get teasted U_U so I think its decreasing...

I think it has decreased, but it will not disappear. Pokémon has changed a little from the old games though. Old sprites were better and the graphics of the new games are not good. It was less childish then I have heard.
