Pokecommunity, are you sick of spending half your day filling out MofM categories? Do you long for members to praise and adore your amazingly witty and thought out posts? Are you angry that you can't vote for yourself in contests? Then is Post of the Week the topic for you!!

Thanks to meager editing tools for topics I'm gonna have to make a new topic every week. :(

(Currently in tears thinking about this, good tears) (and sorry if this is the wrong section).

Just wow Pokecommunity. In my 5-6 years of really being internet active, and joining various forums throughout the years, I can safely and proudly say this is the BEST community I've been in. I've been to many unfriendly places on the web, some places with people who are practically elitist about everything. I kinda stopped going on forums because I tried to accept the fact that "it's the internet." But then my thinking was wrong. Yes expect some pretty bad things to come from the web, but never assume every place is horrible and that the member anywhere will be buttfaces just because it is the web.

Then I came here. Arceus Christmas was it a different experience. Some places for specific fandoms had mods who couldn't tolerate opinions, or some satirical humor on the fandom itself and was easy to back and remove people. Here is different. There are chances, there are caring people, there are those willing to help you if you posted somewhere else in a wrong section or submitted a post in the wrong thread. And with that said many people on all the forums I've been on would be quick to throw insults and names that should never be used as insults.

I've only been around for a year and some, but it was a great year. And I will be glad to be on for the years to come. Thanks Pokecommunity. Thanks for being so great to everyone and me.

    See you around, ~DDDchu

For me, I'm a big lover of Fire types. I try to always have a Fire Pokemon if I can, and if I can't have a Fire Pokemon, I have to at least have a party member with Flamethrower or another Fire move. So DP Sinnoh was really disappointing for me with it's lack of Fire types, but not only that, that generation introduced so many new evolutions, but most of them weren't accessible til post game. Really sucks because that's what I wanted to use the most out of anything really, but at least it was fixed in Platinum.

Gotta disagree with people about Hoenn. I have replayed them countless times and idk, I always tend to find things that are fun to use, heck, even if I've already used them before. idk maybe it's just me, haha. I can understand if someone is a big Ice type fan and was disappointed in the lack of Ice Pokemon, though. I get that. I'm sure some people would ignore my plea for Fire types in Sinnoh, so different strokes types for different folks, I suppose.

Johto isn't lacking in types, but in a similar vein to Sinnoh having a ton of new Pokemon that weren't accessible, Johto had the same issue. You couldn't get some Johto favorites like Larvitar, Houndour, and Misdreavus until you had access to Kanto. Larvitar, for example, you couldn't even get until the final area of the game. That's so late that it's almost pointless to add it to the team then. So yeah, while Johto had plenty of Pokemon for the most part, I just wish there were more of the Pokemon introduced that generation actually in Johto. I'm sure the reason was because since you do go to Kanto, having some stuff not available in Johto made it fun because there was still more to discover, but idk, I would have preferred to get a lot of these Pokemon earlier than Kanto, especially with how lackluster Kanto is in GCS especially.

I really felt like Dex diversity didn't get really good til BW2 though. There are so many Pokemon to choose from there and they only increased it from there which makes replayability great for those games as well as XY.

Regret is for the weak - if you did it it was because you were horny and wanted to do it, so short of pregnancy or incurable STD, there's really no reason for regret. If you're going to cry over the fact that this has ruined your life simply because it wasn't special enough when there were literally no other consequences then you never really deserved the sex in the first place.

By your logic nobody is allowed to regret anything they do in their lives, ever. Regret means you did something at the time you thought you wanted to do, but in hindsight you wish you didn't do. There is in fact consequences, which is why a person would feel regret to begin with. Even having that mental distress alone is a consequence.

What if somebody was manipulated into having sex? At the time they thought they wanted it, and they may not have necessarily been physically injured, gotten pregnant or contracted any STD from it, but in hindsight they still wish they just waited to be in a healthy relationship instead. Honestly, the reason a lot of people have sex and regret it is because at the time they thought they were in a better relationship than they were.

Saying a person can't regret something because at some point they wanted it is illogical. I don't think you "deserve" sex. You're an idiot.

I finally got nominated and it was twice. Way to go in with a bang.

oops forgot to stick this. fixed!

Also I voted for the first Syd post :D

idk like do I vote for myself and be an asshole or do I vote for one of the other two posts cause tbh they're rly good lmao

I typically shamelessly favor my stuff, but that last one was a pretty clean reply...

giving potw some huge potload of prestige annoys me because the whole idea of it rested on a lax & casual roundup of a few posts that people thought were interesting/funny/etc and should be given a bit more of a look at
it's just a casual affair and nothing more

the nature of these things is that they will get stale over time no matter how they are Jazzed Up and given the Sparkle and Prestige! treatment
there's no incentive to any of these potw/motm/etc thing aside from 'cool! some people think my contribution was worthy of being noted! swell!' and as such they're only of any real relevance to the people who check out the thread

it's really not something i wish to give much more attention to

I don't want this being the next MOTY so having it in this area seems fine by me. I think it would be great to get more regulars from outside of Treehouse as those that submit nominations though, so we can get a glimpse into great posts from other areas, but I wouldn't want this made into a big spectacle like MOTY so having it stay here makes sense to me.

honestly, in my opinion if we're going to do things like this we never should have gotten rid of member of the year. it was infrequent enough that it was still exciting when it came around. for me it felt like this Big Thing, whereas things with any more regularity feel like more of a chore and lose their luster very fast. but that's just me.

I think MotM's popularity depends on the categories and the length. Why was MotY taken down? I don't really see a problem with PotW now, but I don't really go to threads outside the treehouse, so I won't be nominating posts from other areas... Yea, I mean if you want it to be more versatile, then just get judges who are active in other areas. Keep it simple.

One question, and my apologies if this seems like I'm straying a bit too far from the main point here but...what was exactly wrong with what MotY was? For what it's worth, it was certainly an event that used to be looked forward to...perhaps because of it's infrequency (I'm pretty sure that played a large part), but the event did get plenty of attention and submissions an generally MotY events are more...lively and have more purpose than MotM. Am I missing something, perhaps?

e: If this is meant to be a quiet event that was never meant to gather a large amount of attention, then that's fine, as well. I just thought I'd throw something in here so it doesn't look like I'm ignoring the other posts above me lol.

There's nothing wrong with MOTY, I was saying I don't think this needs to be as big and grand as MOTY so I don't think it needs to be in CQ&F and get a boatload of attention and be made into something so large. idk I see this as a smaller fun thing cause it's interesting to see what posts are made and nominated (look at the variation this week for example) and it's not blown up into a big deal or anything.

lol I come in here and the thread's all hella serious

....But yeah, I agree that I'd prefer to keep PotW all fun and casual-like and in the Treehouse. If advertisement of the event is a concern there is that new "What's the Buzz" thread in CF&S that someone could post about it in, or maybe Larry/Chase/Sonata could even make a general Treehouse thread up in Community Announcements and every time a new PotW is made it could be posted about in there or something. idk

One little thing though.....as good as Syd's 2 posts are, could we maybe not have more than 1 post per person in PotW? Just for a little variety and fairness?

And to everyone curious about why we're no longer doing MotY.....from what I remember about the discussions in CF&S and the Staff Lounge, we decided to stop doing MotY because despite the "infrequency" of it, people were getting rather bored of it (since it was just the same thing year after year, and participation seemed to be declining over the years) and there was little in the way of ideas brought up in either place on how to make it less boring. People also didn't really like that it was essentially a glorified popularity contest, not to mention that PC was doing it's usual complaining about how staff/the same people were winning half the categories.

let's be real one of them is clearly better than the other lol but yeah i agree that the same user shouldn't be showing up more than once

She got 2 because Ben and I didn't know what the other had chosen.
