"Gary Humes is known well for his gloss paint on aluminium panel canvases, giving prominence to brighter hues and flat areas of colour. All four paintings in the White Cube consist of recurring symmetrical motifs and mirrored formations. Hume carries with him an impulse of visual simplicity cloaked in pastel colour and mappings of abstract silhouettes, distinguishing forms of reflection in compliance towards aspects of symbolism and imagination. His pictures are almost dream-like; consisting of obscure shapes and forms leading a potential ambiguity of eccentric elegance."
