If someone has a private twitter (protected tweets) and has added it to their profile...

    [PokeCommunity.com] Private twitter requests auth

Any way this could be... changed? So that if it's private, it doesn't show up on the profile... and therefore we don't get this?

not on our end.. its up tot he user to select either private or not.. PM that user and POLITELY ask them to make their twitter tweets public or take it off their PC profile, worse they can say is no.

Or we bug the twitter people to make this an option :P

As one of the members with a private twitter account, I still feel as if the pop up isn't that bad. I'm sure if it annoys you that much, you can use addons for your browser to block the twitter widget on that specific page. It's not hard to do really in adblock plus or any other addon.

But if you want to see those tweets, just find an addon that does the logging in for you. Once you've logged into the Twitter API, It usually doesn't ask again for the rest of your browser session. (until you close your browser completely)

Thing is, I don't want to be randomly putting in my twitter user/pass on a site that isn't. It's pretty easy to fake one of those pop-ups.

@Pachy that doesn't work if the user isn't on your twitter friends list.. (I know as I just tested it)

Doesn't Twitter usually not allow you to see tweets from people who your are not following or haven't followed you? So maybe this is a bug since it's set up on PC to allow you to see tweets from people you don't follow and Twitter's not used to that.

You can see anyone's tweets, just as long as their profile isn't set to private.

But, on here, it's legitimate. ):
    You could just talk to the user who has their settings set to that, or close the window.. XD;
Except it happens everytime I load their profile, unless I put it in.

(And hey, you have younger kids here - teach them to put their user/pass on sites that aren't the actual place, and what do we teach?)

So if we put an explanation somewhere it's problem solved? Alrighty then.

Otherwise, just hit cancel when this window pops up, this is why the button exists. I've noticed this problem with very few accounts, and it's less of an inconvenience than I'm sure it would be to recode the plug-in or whatever needs to be done, so just try to deal with it. If it's that much of a problem, and you're visiting this profile frequently, talk to the owner of the account.

Everyone here needs to understand that the login prompt is coming from twitter.com! This is why the login field is not embedded into the widget!

It's using the HTTP based login mechanism. The server behind this prompt is Twitter's API server, which directly queries your browser to login when the twitter plugin connects to the server and requests data for the private account, which causes the browser to ask for credentials. Note that the login window says it's from the Twitter API in the screenshot, and even tells you which server demanded the login credentials. (www.twitter.com:80) the :80 part is the port number, and port number 80 is the normal webserver port, this is the default port that ALL browsers look at first once it resolves the URL.

I'm not an idiot. I'm saying that this is stupid and people with private twitters either shouldn't be allowed to put them here or maybe give me an option so I don't have to click a little box every time I view someone's profile. I'd be fine turning off all twitter in PC if that was the case.

(And heck, why do you even put it on PC if it's private?!)

GIANT SENTENCES WON'T CHANGE A THING. YOU'RE NOT HELPING VERY MUCH.

And it's already been established 9001 times already, so I'm pretty sure everyone understands what's going on right now.
