During tonight's TNA Genesis Pay-Per-View, it was announced that Main Event Mafia star Kevin Nash would be unable to compete in his scheduled match because he was hospitalized earlier today.

For those wondering whether Nash's absense was part of a storyline or a legit injury - it's legit. Nash was hospitalized earlier today in Charlotte, North Carolina with a severe staph infection in his elbow. There is a lot of concern backstage at Genesis regarding Nash's condition and there is fear he may have blood poisoning.

I wonder how the storyline will be changed because of this event.

Robert Roode suffered an ankle injury in his TNA Tag Team Championship match at the Genesis pay-per-view on Sunday. While it is unknown how serious that the injury is or how long that he will be out, he was not used at last night's Impact taping from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

WWE Releases Two Well Known Names

WWE has cut two more individuals.

Sgt. Slaughter, who has been working as a producer for WWE for the past several years, has been released from the company.

Ron Simmons has also been released. He has made sporadic appearances on television for his "Damn!" gimmick and done some promotional work for the company in the last year or so. This is the second time in which Simmons has been released from WWE, the other time taking place in March 2004.

Kevin Nash Gives Fans An Update On His Condition
by Richard Gray

TNA Wrestling posted the following blog from Kevin Nash on their official website. Nash underwent emergency surgery yesterday in Charlotte, North Carolina on his elbow:

"Greetings from Charlotte, still.

I know I've only been in the airport, hotel and hospital since I've been here after arriving late Saturday afternoon, but I've run into some very nice people.

The hospital staff is very nice, and one young brunette nurse is really a looker. Kinda tall Megan Fox-looking.

I have some sort of infection in my right elbow; the culture has not come back yet. The doctors have been treating it as MRSA. For those of you who do not know, MRSA is an antibiotic-resistant infection. A mutated superbug. Lucky me.

Oh, by the way, did I tell you that I was operated on Monday afternoon. That's surgery No. 27. After being cut on that many times, sometimes you forget, even if it was just Monday when I was operated on. (Editor's note: Nash's arm was cut open to drain blood due to massive swelling).

Don't know when this will heal, depends on how my body reacts to the antibiotics.

I have a gaping, open wound in my elbow, with the equivalent of a small ShopVac hooked up to it. I'm sure I'm paying 2-bills to rent that bad boy. When I go home, I'll hook up the Black & Decker, and save the insurance company some money.

Hated missing the Pay-Per-View because I felt like the Mafia was just starting to get some momentum. But my left arm is OK, so I should be able to whack somebody at the next iMPACT events in Orlando.

Heard Kurt and Jeff had a great match; I look forward to watching that.

I would like to continue on with this blog, but American Idol is upcoming. Can't miss.

I'll blog more this week.

Nash …"The MRSA Man"

Oh MRSA, MRSA me … things ain't like they used to be.

WWE Star Agrees To New Deal, "The Wrestler" Sways A WWE Decision

-- Rey Mysterio, 34, has agreed to all terms on a new contract, but it has yet to be confirmed if he has officially signed the deal. Mysterio has agreed to terms for a three-year deal with a two-year option. His current contract with WWE was set to expire soon. It actually would have expired already, but the company extended it due to all the time he missed as a result of his various injuries. The standard WWE contract allows the company to extend it in the event of long hiatus.

Did Cena's Heavily Hyped Return At Survivor Series Draw PPV Buys?
By Daniel Pena

source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

The early buyrate estimates are in for the 2008 Survivor Series pay-per-view, which featured the heavily hyped return of John Cena. As it turns out, Cena's return to the ring ended up drawing the lowest domestic figure in Survivor Series history with a grand total of 205,000 buys in North America. Overall, the show drew 326,000 buys. While the numbers are not final, the first estimates for last year's show drew 341,000 and 215,000 buys respectively, so they're well behind pace.

From a comparison standpoint, last year's show didn't even feature Cena as he was injured at the time, and it still ended up outdrawing this year's show featuring WWE's apparent poster boy. Last year's show featured a Hell in a Cell blow-off to the Batista vs. Undertaker feud, a match that had already headlined three pay-per-views as well as TVs during the year. The show also featured a Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels title match.

Survivor Series will likely end up being the fifth most watched pay-per-view of 2008, as last year's No Way Out event featuring two Elimination Chamber matches drew an estimated 230,000 buys in North America.

The numbers for Survivor Series have to be considered a huge disappointment considering that the company pushed John Cena's return to the ring for several weeks on all three shows with vignettes, not to mention that they tried to hotshot an Internet angle on the company website with Jeff Hardy on the day of the show.

Mickey Henerson was cool. I'm sad now because they're cutting out too many refs.

Is this all being caused by economic problems?

Yes. WWE wants to cut 20 Million from the budget and so far there at about 8 million.

OD, was what happened to Jeff real? It looked real...
