BloodLucario, please don't discourage others from posting; that was a close round and I liked all the gyms. Your Ground gym was excellent HallwayKid, and I would love to see a slightly edited version of it, or if you get the time, a new gym all together. Also, BloodLucario, please please please don't quote whole gyms. They are hugely expansive posts, and quoting them all takes up a shitload of space.

I'm often too busy to make comments on every gym, so I need a little help. Don't worry, you'll still be able to submit gyms and such, I just need someone to give some guidance and enforce some basic rules. Tell me if this works for you =)

BloodLucario's Bug Gym

As Charmageddon mentioned, the formatting needs a little work. By this I mean Spacing & Bold/Underlining to make it more readable. Also, Hyper Beam on Scizor and Giga Impact on Roserade are not competetively viable by any means. Hyper Beam is Special & Giga Impact is Physical, so they both are attacks that hit these pokemon on their weaker offensive stats. Also, the recharge turn is not so sexy. So my big themes are formatting and competetively viableness. It's a good gym overall, thanks for submitting.

You Had Me At Hello's Fire Gym

I love it. I'm sooo glad to see you back from Round 2: you were my #2 choice there in that round. The gym is beautifully done, all the formatting and the rules are followed, and you gave the Gym Trainers appropriate Pokemon (i.e. a Flareon for the Beauty, you know what I mean.) I have no complaints with this gym, though I would ask that you change the name from Ash. It makes sense with the Fire types, but...I think you know what I'm getting at. Great job.

Gym Nerd Speech: (he's outside the gym)*wheeze, wheeze*Long time, no see champ! This gym is ridiculous. When I tried to enter the gym, it was all dark inside, and trainers just kept coming from all angles whilst yelling at me! With such aerial movement, they must be flying-type trainers. Zap, freeze, or toss rocks at them to break their wings and avenge me!

Gym description: The standard colour scheme for this one is a mixture between dark green walls, and white brick platforms. The other tiles are filled with a white-ish fog.

Okay, here's the key:
Have you been to Brawleys gym in Dewford before? The one that lights up more the more trainers you defeat? This one is like that, only that if you use flash, you'll be able to see everything. Otherwise, every trainer you win against will illuminate the area a little.
Apart from that, this gym is partly platforms/levels, partly air only. The big white squares on the map mark the platforms (if it's something on the square, you can be pretty darn sure it's a platform)
A red dot marks a spot where you can glide from one red dot to another, provided you have a flying pokemon with you.
A blue dot marks a spot where there are favourable winds blowing from below, so you can glide up to the level above by stepping on it.
A green dot marks a spot where you can swoop down from above to a lower level. The black lines show where you're headed if you step on a green/blue spot.
The light purple dots are the gym trainers, and the dark purple dot is the gym leader.
So, for the tricky part:
The light brown squares are strength boulders. If you push them over the edge, they will fall and eventually land on the same spot on a lower level. By doing so, these boulders will become bridges to allow you to access certain parts of the gym. The blue lines mark where the boulders should go, in order to pass the puzzle. (Please note that the two boulders on the south platform on lvl 3 are there only for a shortcut after you've beaten the leader, they are not required to push down in order to actually pass the gym)

EDIT: The entrance is located at level 1, between trainer 1 and 2, btw, in case that wasn't clear enough.

Hey there, champ in the making! I hope you've been brushing up on your tango lessons. This gym is a nest full of Flying types, the dancers of the air! Don't worry, though, birds really hate thunder and ice, so you can find an advantage if you look for it!

Gym Structure

The gym is situated in a sort of circular treehouse, with seven levels. There are no stairs; rather, past each trainer is a magical tile that transforms the trainer into a Pidgey, thus allowing them to fly to the next floor. The effects dissipate upon the bird hovering forward through the floor hole above, though it is possible to go back down without transformation, or injury. The seventh, and uppermost, floor has a lone Altaria you may speak to on the far right, which will enable the challenger to take a one-way ticket to the ground level in case they need a last-minute trip to the Pokémon center before fighting the leader.

The gym is beautifully done, all the formatting and the rules are followed, and you gave the Gym Trainers appropriate Pokemon (i.e. a Flareon for the Beauty, you know what I mean.) I have no complaints with this gym, though I would ask that you change the name from Ash. It makes sense with the Fire types, but...I think you know what I'm getting at. Great job.

Puzzle:
There are 16 rooms with 16 buttons that will light up and dim the area. 8 light up the area, but 8 will dim the room. when you defeat the leader, push the button and the whole area will light up fully. the order of the buttons will be with the trainer i post. i'll say "Dim" or "Light" after the sprite. Light=light up the room. Dim= dim the room. You also have to defeat EVERY trainer and press all the trainers buttons before you can face the leader. The door where the leader is has a trap that will bring you back to the start while one of your pokemon with get a random status affliction (Brun, Poison, ect.). To make it so no one picks the leader door without knowing, there will be a sign with the words, "Leader Daniel's room".

HOWEVER, if there is no Dark type gym, expect my gym leader to be in the Elite Four. Well, try to. XD also, because there's not many dark types, i had to reuse most of them. sorry for that. =)

Puzzle Description:

You enter the gym and there is a sandstorm going on. It is generated by a machine you can't see. You see 2 ruins on each side and one at the very top. The top one is closed with 4 bars going across it. You have to enter a ruin and push a stone onto the switch in the room. This will then cause one of the bars in the top ruin to open up. You have to do this in each of the 4 ruins to completely open the final one. There are two trainers in each of the first 4 ruins. In the last ruin you will face the gym leader's pupils in a double battle. You are now able to face the gym leader.

The pupils are supposed to work well together because Mandy's Pokemon can't get hit by ground moves and all of Trent's Pokemon know Earthquake.

The moves for the Trainers, including the pupils, are the last 4 moves that Pokemon learns, at their level, according to Bulbapedia.


Hey, I'm only short of Phantom Renegade by 5 trainers and 10 Pokemon.

HallwayKid: 9 Trainers, 25 Pokemon

That's excluding the gym leader. Technically, I have 10 if you count the pupils as separate trainers.

It does look like Phantom is going to win this round, but I do think my gym is just as good. I'm trying to give Phantom a run for his money.


Seed Bomb for Torterra as an alternative grass move if Arthur wants to keep Torterra's HP up.

And Phantom, it's a little annoying that a Flying-type is required to progress in your gym. Otherwise, no complaints here.

@ Darkfox and HKid, I always live by the rule "quality rather than quantity" :P That is to say, I really like both of your gyms, and I do not think that it's a given that I win this round... I think it's a pretty even race. I must say though, that I'm flattered that you are using me as a measure of how well you are doing! Hahah!

I have just a few minor suggestions for the gym leaders movesets.
Darkfox, your Darkrai knows Dark Pulse, Dark Void, Omnious Wind, and Nasty Plot, right? I'd change Omnious Wind to Focus Blast, mainly due to the coverage Dark + Fighting give, and also because of the slight power rise from 60 BP to 120 BP. You will hit pretty much everything harder with Dark Pulse than Omnious Wind anyway :D

HKid:
1) Tyranitar isn't a Ground-type (but that just adds to cool, so +1 internet there)
2) Due to the sandstorm Tyranitar is setting up, Torterras synthesis will only heal 25% of its max HP, not the usual 50%, so it's not as smexy as before D:
3) Grachomp loves his physical STAB, if I may be so bold :D (you might also want to add a Brightpowder to it in order to make moves miss like 30-ish% of the time, making it extremely annoying )
Otherwise, I really wish all of you good luck. I'll not be surprised if the winner turns out to be rather.. grounded...
