Coran was still smiling, her tanned face cracked in a wide smile. She loved to run, especially with Rave at her heels. It brought back memories... glorious memories, of the old days when he was a houndour and she was still small enough to climb on his back. For a moment, she nearly lost herself in recollections... but now was not a good time.

She glanced at Teioh; he was beautiful as an espeon, glossy-coated and bright-eyed, and Coran felt a sudden rush of love for him. She shook her head sternly. It was the espeon-body she loved, not the boy. She had always been drawn to pokemon, and cared about them more than any human. Then she wondered, what did he look like as a boy? How old was he?
She had known Teioh for a while now, but she didn't even know how tall he was. It was an odd thought.

Rave nodded {We'll need to change clothes...maybe dye their hair,} he glanced at Mara and Seth, {And maybe look for clues. It's got to be coming from somewhere...}

OOC: -_- If I could only be on here when you guys are, it would probably be nice. Oh well, maybe I'll get it sometime. ^^

Mara & Squirt
-------------------

"Ah, well, we know what running certainly feels like," Mara confessed, "And what lying low means too. We almost ran into trouble back on the train when a trainer came into our compartment. Still never quite figured out if he were trustworthy or not." She laughed nervously. She was still afraid, but at least they had Squirt back.

Squirt looked nervously from Mara and Growlithe to Teioh and Seth. What did they think of her now that she was no longer her old self? She wanted to say something to Growlithe, but he hadn't spoken yet to her, and that made her nervous.

"G-Growlithe? Um...," she suddenly realized she had no idea what to say. Again.

{Don't worry Squirt... I don't mind that you're a human,} he said, staring ahead of him still. He didn't sound like he meant it though.

Squirt frowned. He didn't mean it. After all this, after all the things they had been through, he wouldn't trust her because she was a human?! She turned her head away from him, deciding to ignore him for the time being. At least until she cooled off a bit; she didn't want to say anything that she would regret later.

She looked instead over at Teioh and Limpy. "Well," she said to Limpy, "I guess that's two of us here that owe you for helping us out. I mean, I know you helped Teioh, and me definitely. I wish there were some way I could help you out."

Mara continued to talk to Coran, even though she had been obviously thinking of Teioh; but Mara couldn't help it, this was the first girl that had come to their group besides her.

"I don't think we'll have to dye your hair; perhaps if we cut it a bit and style it a different way that should do the trick. At least then we wouldn't have to chance going somewhere to buy a thing of dye. That might look a bit suspicious...," she trailed off, thinking to herself.

Luckily, the Pokemon Center was coming into view. At least there they would be safe.

OOC: Yeah, posting sprees are loads of fun. Maybe we'll manage it some time. ^^ Oh, and by the by, congratulations on your contest victory Melissa. I meant to say it earlier but it slipped my mind. ^^

IC:

Teioh frowned at Growlithe's reply to Squirt. Such terrible bias... he thought for himself Can't he understand that she's still our Squirt, even though she looks different? How can he place so much important on facial values? He ought to know better... He was just about to comment on the matter when Squirt decided to chat up with Limpy.

The old Rattata shrugged as best he could while still holding onto Teioh. {If you're thinking about turning me back then there's really no point. I've been a Rattata for so long that I doubt I'd even know how to act human anymore. Besides, being a rat has it's advantages. But if you really want to help me...} his eyes narrowed just a bit {Then destroy LG inc, tear it down to the ground. Oh, and tell those leader twerps that Limpy says 'hi'.}

{That's the plan.} Teioh commented {One evil corporation takedown coming up. But first, it's time to rest.} he gestured towards the pok?mon center that was rising into view.}

{About...time...} Biggs wheezed, holding one of his short front limbs over his chest.

Coran pushed open the door, with an audiable sigh of relief. Inside, the pokemon center was bright, clean, and already bustling. They were a strange assortment of people, but when there were two bug cacthers arguing over a bulbsaur, and several pokemaniacs walking around dressed as charizards (there must be a convention somewhere, Coran thought.) they would blend in easily.
She returned Rave to his pokeball, and glanced to Mara.
"Well...we really need to change. The pokecenter will have spares somewhere - I bet loads of trainers come in with their shirts ripped to shreds because they over-reacted." she attempted a smile, but it looked more like a pained grimace. Coran was beginning to feel incredibly tired... but she couldn't sleep yet!
She walked in, andput all three of her pokeballs on the counter.
"Um... Heal my pokemon, please... And can we get a room? For...um..." she counted on her fingers, "Four people. Please." She added. Pokemon centers weren't just there for the pokemon's benefit, of course - there were always spare rooms somewhere in the back where you could crash if you needed, showers, and all sorts of usefull ammenities. Coran had pratically lived out of one when she had first left home.

ooc| Congrats, Melissa! You deserved it, though xD
Uh... I'm making the pokemoncenters like the ones on the anime, hope that's okay. I've never been a big fan, but I do remember one episode when Misty and Ash slept in bunk beds... o_o;

OOC: Works for me. ^^

IC:

Teioh slipped through the crowds without much difficulty, Limpy leaping over to Squirt's care so as to make their merry little group look a bit less conspicious. Of course, with all these oddballs about no-one would probably look twice, but one could never be too careful.

"Are those yours as well, miss?" the nurse inquired, pointing at Biggs who was elbowing his way through the crowds and panting heavily and at Teioh who was currently standing next to Coran and following the proceedings.

"No they're not." Seth replied, manuvering his way through the crowd as well. "The Espeon is mine and the Slowbro belongs to her." he gestured towards Squirt. "As does the Rattata, could you check up on those two as well, please? Oh, and these as well." he added, handing over the pok?balls containing his three pok?mon, all of which had participated in the recent battle and were certainly in need of healing.

"Oh my word." the nurse said, examining the rather scruffy and beat up Rattata that was Limpy and the still heavily panting Biggs "They do seem to be in rather bad shape. One moment please."

She gathered up the pok?mon that were to be sent for healing and dissapeared behind the counter for a while to do whatever it was they did to pok?mon.

"I suppose we're waiting..." Teioh commented, watching the nurse leave. "It sure will be nice to get some-"

"Hey, hey! Out of the way! Like, gusto man! Gusto!"

The voice of this obnoxious trainer caused Teioh to freeze. He slowly turned around, only to find his fears confirmed as he noticed the familiar pok?maniac elbowing his way through the crowds, his black hair and shabby overcoat as messy as ever.

"Of all the bloody..." Teioh muttered psychically, remembering the form he was in and hoping that the guy was headed somewhere else. No such luck though.

"Like out of the way, like!" Ray Blythe exclaimed, rudely shoving Coran aside. "Got like, bussiness here, ya' dig? No time for ya' kiddies, so like, scoot! And like, where's the-" he paused mid-sentence, noticing Teioh. "Hey!" he exclaimed in a painfully loud voice "That's mine! I had dibbs on it until some whiny brats interfered!" he turned his eyes to Coran, whom he assumed to be the one who had 'caught' the boy-Espeon, still oblivious to the presence of Mara and Seth "You dare to but in on my turf?!" he asked, his eyes bulging manically "You picked the wrong pok?maniac to mess with girly! Ray Blythe always gets his prize!" he reached for the pok?balls on his belt, obviously preparing to battle as a sizeable crowd gathered to watch the scene.

OOC: Ohh...Couldn't resist putting Blythie back in. I'm only human. ^^
But Coran's pok?mon are all being healed, right? Maybe she could use Teioh instead. It could be his first Trainer battle. ^^

Ray Blythe's shove had sent Coran sprawling to the floor, but in an instant she was on her feet again, teeth clenched. "Don't you dare call me girly," she spat at him, and went to grab Rave's pokeball off her belt... only, it wasn't there. She swore colourfully, before glancing to Teioh.

"You know this guy?" she enquired coldly, shooting Ray what she hoped was a wilting stare. She longed to punch him, not just for shoving her, but for treating the espeon like it was some sort of 'object'. The problem was, she was fourteen, skinny, and a girl. Ray was much older, much muscular, and was nearly two heads taller than her.

Then, a thought struck her. "Teioh!" she said, "Will you battle with me?" she asked him.
She was faintly aware that a crowd was gathering around her; the bug catchers had stopped arguing, and even nurse joy had stopped tutting over Biggs and was watching the scene - torn between enjoyment and disapproval, Coran noticed.

ooc| Sure thing! Do you have a move set in mind?
*thinks of her Espeon on colliseum* Or I could sue my own, which ever is better..

OOC: Heh, methinks Teioh can just use whatever since he's a Shifter and all. ^^ This isn't a documentary.

IC:

"We've met..." Teioh replied, glaring at the pok?maniac. "And it would be my pleasure to help you." he took a step forward, ready to stand up and fight for his friend.

"Big words girly! Let's see if you've got the skill to back them up!" Ray spat out, unclipping one of the pok?balls from his belt and tossing it towards an empty spot on the floor as the crowd members wisely took their distance. "Go Mightyena!"

The dark pok?mon howled as it spawned from its pok?ball, staring down dismissively at Teioh.

"Round it up for me my pretty!" Ray commanded, pointing at the boy-Espeon "Bite!"

The Mightyena lunged forward, fangs barred. The battle had started.

Coran was already yelling orders - she had no idea whether Teioh would listen, but it was worth a shot.
"Teioh, crouch left!" she ordered, completely forgetting Teioh wasn't her perfectly-trained Rave, "Then turn, and use hypnosis!" she shouted hoarsely. In her head, she could see it happening - Teioh would crouch at exactly the right moment, and lean to one side so the mightyena would sail straight past him...then turn, and attack when the mightyena was still skidding to a halt. She just hoped Teioh would follow her orders...

OOC: Don't see no Hypnosis in Espeon's learnset but whatever. ^^

IC:

Teioh nodded, although his crouch wasn't quite perfect and one of the Mightyena's fangs scratched his tail as he dodged. The second part of the instructions was completed without such problems however, as he unleashed a wave of soothing psychic energy at his opponent. The dark pok?mon staggered backwards, yawning widely.

"Shape up you dolt!" Ray yelled stamping his foot in irritation at the drowsy Mightyena "Take Down!"

"I'll respond to this one if you don't mind." Teioh shot out, absorbing the impact of the attack and striking back with a Counter move that sent his opponent backwards a bit where it groaned slightly and stumbled shakily back onto its feet.

"Come on! Swagger!"

ooc| that's his shifter-ness coming in handy.. xD

Coran watched him proudly. He was a good battler - her normal strategy was to try and prevent damage before attacking... a best offence is a good defence, after all!
Now, though, she was determined to change her strategy.
"Sunny day - then hidden power!" she called, struggling to remember espeon's moveset. She had never used a psychic type before, but it didn't matter. Hidden power would turn into a fire attack, and then Teioh could use Morning Sun.

Teioh briefly closed his eyes, blocking out the world around him and focusing on the thought of the sun.

A score of 'ooh's and 'aah's escaped from the crowd as the weak rays of the sun which were shining in from the pok?center windows were amplified, bathing the arena in their glow, much to the Mightyena's discomfort. The dark pok?mon was cut off in mid-swagger, too frustrated to continue and decided to lunge instead.

At this part, the boy-Espeon excecuted the second phase of the commands, calling out his inner power (OOC: Heh, meh was hinting on his Hidden Power earlier actually, remember that stuff about 'inner fire'? XD) which materialized in the shape of a circle of energy orbs, each of which seemed to be absorbing heat from the sun's rays and flew towards the Mightyena, knocking it down to the floor where it whimpered slightly and gave of the distinct odor of singed furr.

"Noooo!" Ray called out in fury, tearing at his hair as he returned the Mightyena to its pok?ball "It's not over yet! Go Rhy-"

"Oh no you don't!" a stern voice, belonging to a local police officer cut in as its owner came and placed and grabbed the pok?maniac by the wrist. "Your name was Ray Blythe, wasn't it?" the officer, a rather nondescript male with short, black hair, inquired.

"That's right!" Ray spat out, furious about the interruption "Pok?mon collector extaordinaire! Now let me go, that girl stole my Espeon and I want it back!" he pointed an accusing finger at Coran.

"Is this true young lady?" the officer asked, turning to Coran and eyeing her sternly.

Coran punched the air. It had taken her a while to figure out the whole 'hidden power' thing - but then again, she had skived off the majority of pokeschool and was a little behind on pokemon knowledge.
She stared at the officer for a moment, looking put-out.
She then turned to Ray. "How come I found him, wandering around all on his own and in a terrible state, huh? You were hardly looking after him!" She smiled to herself. That was a straight out lie... she had found Teioh prancing about with a crowd of other people, and he had even attacked her. It was sort of true, though - Ray hadn't been taking care of Teioh. She longed to know the whole story, but guessed it had to wait.
She turned to Teioh. What else could she say? Curse her small IQ!
Nurse Joy was leaning over the counter, looking suspicious.

"That's a dirty lie!" Ray yelled, glaring at Coran. "She's a thief! Anyone could tell that just by looking at her! And now she's lying in an effort to save her own skin! That Espeon belongs to me!"

Teioh rolled his eyes, even though he knew that Coran was acting in his best interest he didn't really approve of her lying like that. Although in a way she had found her in a terrible shape, at least mentally speaking. "That guy started a fight in the middle of the Balautenos city pok?mon center." Teioh shot out to Coran, "Confront him with it."

"I can explain officer-" Seth began, but was cut out sternly.

"Do not interfere in the investigation, citizen." the officer said pompously, raising a hand as a sign that any further interjections would be pointless. "I know you 'heroic' types all too well, lying to save the girl in a misguided attempt at chivalry and that trick only works once on me boy!" he turned to stare intently at Coran, taking in her shady appearance. "Found it, eh?" he asked sceptically "And where did you find it exactly?"

Nurse Joy kept observing the situation intently, her face furrowed into a frown, and was obviously experiencing an urge to say something.

Coran glanced at Teioh, her brow furrowed. "Read. My. Mind." she mouthed silently.
Act like you're scared of Ray or something... she thought, Hide behind my legs and look pitiful, make it look like he was mean to you.
She turned back to the officer, and tossed her hair, looking slightly more determined now. "Ray started a fight in Balautenos city pok?mon center! People got hurt, you know!" she looked to the officer, her eyes wide and pleading, "A man this violent isn't suited to owning a gentle little espeon, look how worried he is..." she gestured to the espeon.

She turned to the officer and attempted a sad sigh. Maybe he would take pity on her...? Then again, she was dressed all in black and looked like an escaped convict. "I guess... you're going to take the poor thing away..." she whispered, playing the part of the innocent little miss perfectly. She even sniffed and wiped her eyes.

In his mind, Teioh was grinning widely but on the outside he was the very image of sadness. The boy-Espeon hid behind Coran's legs, his forked tail hanging down and his eyes looking tear-filled and scared as he looked at Ray. When the pok?maniac turned to return the look, Teioh immediately let out a small whimper, recoiling even further and trembling as if he was afraid that the male would hit him.

"I..." the officer muttered, his eyes darting between the sad and pitiable looking duo of Teioh and Coran and the now almost frothingly mad Ray. Although the girl's attire was undoubtedly suspicious the officer had never been able to say 'no' to such a pitiable appearance. Besides, a sympathetic mumble became audible from the crowd, phrases like 'Oh that poor thing.', 'How can he be so cruel?' and 'The police force isn't what it used to be' popping up all around, although disturbingly enough nurse Joy didn't join into it. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that." the officer stuttered, clumsily offering Coran a handkerchief. "It's just part of my job, of course you can keep your Espeon."

"She's just faking it!" Ray exclaimed, flailing wildly in the officer's grip.

"Be silent!" the man barked, glaring sternly at the pok?maniac "You are already under arrest for suspicion of pok?mon abuse and causing a disturbance and I will be more than happy to put you in for obstruction of justice as well. You're coming with me." he handcuffed the pok?maniac before he could protest.

"Noo!" Ray exclaimed "You can't do this to me! I'm unbeatable! I'm the best! Curse you girly! You have made yourself an enemy today! No-one crosses Ray-!"

"Can it!" the officer barked, pulling a bit harder at the pok?maniac and hauling him out through the door.

A cheer went up in the pokemon center. Several people were stamping on the floor. Only bugcatchers (who were arguing with each other again) and the pokemaniacs (who were sulking) didn't join in.
Coran let out a little gasp of happiness, and picked up Teioh around his waist. She hugged him, span round once, and put him down. "Teioh, it's okay now, my sweet!" she cooed softly, "He's gone now. You're safe, sweet-pea." she patted him, nearyl crying with laughter. The officer had fallen for it, Ray was gone, and Teioh was safe again. She looked at the counter. Her other pokemon were healed, their balls on the bench, and she re-attached them to her belt.
She turned, and lead her group over to a table in the corner. It was empty except for a hiker, for was sleeping, while hugging his geodude like a teddy bear. They wouldn't be disturbed....the big man looked like a heavy sleeper. She whispered to Teoh under her breath: "Good acting."
Then, with that, she disappeared off to talk to Nurse Joy.

"Likewise." Teioh replied, maintaining a smile that he hoped was one of unspeakable relief. Sweet-pea? he thought for himself with amusement Now there's a first.

"Well, I hope you're proud of yourself." nurse Joy said in a level tone, watching Coran sternly as she approached "I do not know what the story between you three is, young lady, and neither do I know why you felt compelled to lie like that. But I do know that that Espeon is fond of you." she added in a slightly more pleasant voice "And I also know what Ray Blythe did in Balautenos city so his imprisonment is justified, even though I do not approve of your methods. In the interest of that pok?mon I will let this slide, but I urge you to be honest in your dealings with others, particularly your friends, unless you wish to risk loosing them. Now I have work to do, so if you will excuse me..." the nurse turned on her heels and dissapeared behind the counter again, heading of to do whatever it was she did back there.

"Ma'am!" Coran called after her, looking bemused. She was going to ask to rent a room, and borrow some clothes for Mara, but Nurse Joy had already gone. She considored calling after her for a while, but decided she'd talk to Joy when she got back. Coran had already asked the Nurse once, but she guessed it had slipped her mind.

She wandered back over to Teioh, grinning at him. Success had a strange effect on people; she was now brimming with life, her adreneline high, and she longed to go somewhere, do something... She sent Rave out again, and once she had sat herself down at the table, the houndoom decided to sprawl himself on her lap. She stroked him gently. "Teioh..." she asked the espeon eventually, "will you be.... like that... forever?"
She came to the conclusion that, depsite the fact they were alone, they needed to keep the whole LG thing hush-hush. The walls had ears, after all. To anyone listening, she sounded like a rookie trainer wondering whether her pokemon would evolve again.

At this question, there was a snicker among the pok?maniacs and Teioh could have sworn that one of them called out 'Noob!'.

"Truth to be told, I don't know..." the boy-Umbreon confessed, his tail flicking back and forth in a thoughtfull manner "I mean, on one hand no-one has ever managed to change back. But on the other hand, no-one has ever made the switch between pok?mon shapes either. We will just have to see, I guess..." he concluded, "Not that anyone really cared for me when I was a human." he added for himself, forgetting that the psychic link was still active.

Coran scowled at the pokemaniac's comment, but she couldn't do much about it. From now on, she had to go undercover. Forget Coran, the A-Rank Free-lance trainer... She was now a complete N00b who knew little about the world of pokemon.

She smiled softly at Teioh's comment. "I used to think that, you know. Not when I was little, I had my parents and their friends then... but when I turned ten, and I didn't want to join..." she shot a glance at the pokemaniacs, who were listening in, "...my Mum and Dad's line of work, my Dad chucked me out. It was just me and Rave, for a while... No one wanted to have anything to do with me. Though...Now I've met you guys, I guess... people do care."
