    This is very confusing.

I was battling a Croagunk with my Inkay and I used Psywave. It was NOT super effective. It did very little damage.

What has caused this? Inkay is Psychic / Dark so it should get STAB, and Croagunk is Poison / Fighting so Psywave is 4x effective. It should've done 8x damage.

What caused this? I'm very confused. I used it like 4 times (should've been OHKO).

It's because it's Psywave. It never indicates super effective, possibly because the power of it varies.

Psywave its like that, it hits all types with neutral damage and no STAB. Still can't hit Dark types though.

    Wow... What a terrible move!

Alright sorry for this useless thread lol thanks guys. I've probably never used Psywave before honestly.

Ya, Psywave has done neutral type damage since the beginning of the games. It has moments where it is really good as it cannot be resisted, but at the same time you get no STAB or Super Effective hits. Its damage range is between x1 and x1.5 the users level. So its similar to Seismic Toss in a sense as the minimum amount of damage you can do is your own level while maximum amount is x1.5 your level...so a Level 5 can do 7 damage with it...but at level 100 you can do 150 damage.
