7th Gen Purchased Pokemon Moon!

So, as you can see, I recently purchased pokemon Moon, and I'm honestly a little excited.

Initially, Generation 7 failed to pique my interest, but as time went on my curiosity grew immensely. Now, here I am. Admittedly, I don't know a lot about the storyline in this game, I've watched a few reviews, specifically on Ultra Sun/Moon (the general consensus seemed to be that those games were a little redundant, which is why I choose Moon. It was also on sale.) My knowledge of some of the new features is limited as well. However, I'm planning on mostly learning as I go.

Now, the point of this forum-well, I suppose I'm ecstatic and wanted to share this. (A month ago, I'd completely written off Gen 7 as a whole, and I never anticipated that I'd go and purchase the games).
Also, if there's any tips or advice that anyone has for me, I'd very much appreciate it. :)

Hope you're not disappointed. And like long cutscenes.

I don't particularly have any sort of aversion to cutscenes, as long as they're somewhat interesting and not too repetitive. From what I've heard, the games abuse cutscenes, and I'm interested to whether it's true or simply an exaggeration.

Curiosity, mostly. I felt a bit left out, I've gotten mainstream every single pokemon game since 4th gen, and I felt somewhat obligated to purchase S/M. Also, after reading harsh reviews, I wanted to form my own opinion, as this game has been both praised and heavily criticized.

And well, a lot of aspects of this game are unappealing to me, I might as well give it a chance. After all, I had an immense disdain for Black & White when they initially game out, but my views shifted, and I'm very fond of those games, as well as their successors and I regard them as some of the most enjoyable, rich mainstream games to date.

Meh, I'd never buckle for fear of being left out. Especially when a newer game is already in the works.

alright, so i have quite a few points of advice for you: make sure to use the festival plaza, some of the things you can get there can be very beneficial to the main game, same goes for poke pelago, as the islands there can give you more beans (this gens version of pokepuffs) allows you to grow berries, you can find neat items, shards, stones, fossils, even expensive stuff on one of the islands, and another can train your pokemon's stats. after beating the first island, go the the pokemon center in hou'oli city and go to the building right next to it. use the qr scanner, you can find qr codes in your pokedex or search online for them, the pokemon you can get in the island scan function cant be found anywhere else, also you get different pokemon depending on what day it is and what island you are on. also i see that you seem to like the vulpix/ninetails line, just fyi, you can't find them in moon, you find sandshrew and sandslash in moon, the others are for sun, so youll have to use the gts or trade with a friend for those. you can mega evolve in this game, but only very late into it, but you can use a z-move and mega evolve in one battle. also watch out for the grass totem, it spams a cirtain move that makes it a neusiance and very annoying to deal with

Thank you for all of the advice, you really went above and beyond and I appreciate it. I just started the game, but I'll be sure to take everything you mentioned into consideration. :)

And I'm a bit disappointed, I wasn't smart enough to do my research on the version differences between sun and moon beforehand. However, just as you said, there's other ways to obtain an Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales and I'm sure I'll manage.

A lot of people will (bluntly speaking here) shit on the cutscenes, and while I agree that they can be a bit on the long side, for the most part, they're bearable after the first or second island or so.

I would type out something extensively, but I think the short of it would be that whether or not you enjoy this game depends on whether or not you find Lillie and Hau tolerable as characters (and to a large extent, Team Skull). If you don't, you're not going to enjoy Moon much and Ultra Moon/Sun isn't going to change your opinion on that much, if at all. If you do, then you're going to have a lot of fun with what the game has to offer.

Regardless, I do hope you're enjoying it so far. :o

Awesome! ^^ Do you have any idea on what your team will be? I have both Sun and Ultra Sun and I'm willing to trade from my Pokemon Bank. :)

I'd be down to trade! Anyways, my team currently consists of: Primarina, Rimbombee, Drifblim, Lurantis, Salazzle, and Alolan Vulpix. :)
