EV-reducing Berries

Man they're awesome/vital. I'm so glad emerald introduced these gems. Anyway, on to business...

(IN PLATINUM) 1) How long does it take for these berries to grow? and 2) How often do i have to water them to produce the maximum about of berries?

I remember i would waste so much time over-watering berries in emerald because of my ignorance, so some tips would be...great =D

Well,
it all depends on the mulches you're using and the time you have.

Mulches-
Damp Mulch: Slows the growth of berries by 25% more but keeps the soil damp longer.
Gooey Mulch: Makes unharvested berries reseed themselves more often.
Growth Mulch: Makes berries grow 25% faster, but the soil dries more quickly.
Stable Mulch: Makes berries stay on the tree longer.

Each of the EV reducing berries has a maturity rate of 32 hours and the watering cycles are 8 hours apart.
If you are using growth mulch, they'll be done in 24 hours and you will have to water them every 6 hours instead to yield the most berries. The max for each tree is 5 berries.
Damp Mulch means 40 hours of maturing time and the watering cycles are 10 hours apart.

Am i right in saying that EXP. Share still gives EVs?
Yes, EXP Share will give Evs to the Pokemon on the receiving hand. However, if the main battling Pokemon has Pokerus, or holds an EV training item, the extra EVs will not pass on to the receiving Pokemon. Both the receiving Pokemon and the main battling Pokemon will receive full EVs from the opposing Pokemon, though (ex. Geodude will give 1 DEF. EV to both the main battling Pokemon and the receiving Pokemon).

EV Help

I just started EV'ing a Growlithe and when I went to give him Protein it would only let me give him 3. I have been battleing Machop's to get his attack up. But I was wondering why it would not let me give him 10 proteins?

To add on to Jiggly's point, you should try EV training a freshly bred Growlithe. It sounds like you had already battled with thta Growlithe before EV training.

Now Wot?

I haz Defeated Thy league on platinum
I dont know wot to do ... wot do i do?

Go to Snowpoint. Get on the boat. There's whole other storyline extension there.

Keeping track of EVs

I want to start EV training my meowth.

it is lv 1
Rash nature
hp - 12
att- 6
def- 6
s att- 6
s def - 5
speed - 7

im pretty sure 7 is max for a lv 1...

i want to know how to keep track of EVs

do 4 evs gained = 1 stat point?

whats the point of keeping track?

How do you know if it actually did anything?

i have tried ev training before on my lv 53 toxicroak, but no matter how many gastlys i killed my s att stat never rose, so i still dont know if ev training will work for me

should i keep track of the evs in a not book?

thanks

4 EVs in a stat = 1 stat point higher AT LEVEL 100. You won't notice any changes right away if you start at low levels, but as the levels get higher, you should notice that stat you've been EV training in is higher than usual. You want to keep track so that you know that you have the EVs in the stat that you plan on having.

EVs are gained EVERY TIME a Pokemon gains experience from battle, so your lv. 53 Toxicroak may have already maxed out its 510 limit on EVs earlier and therefore, couldn't gain anymore.

If you feel comfortable with them in a notebook, then by all means, go for it.

So if i were to rare candy my meowth to say lv 50 and record all the stat points it is getting and putting it into a calculator it would tell me what i need to EV train? and i will notice a differance?

im still a little confused as to if i rare candy a pokemon does the stats it gains from that need to be put in a calculator

and can i only see my final product at lv 100?

If you're giving your Meowth Rare Candies, then it isn't gaining any EVs. I don't see how plugging those stat points into a calculator will tell you anything of how to EV train your Pokemon. EVs are used to ENHANCE your Pokemon's stats, not entirely determine them.

If you were to write down its stats at level 50, and then EV train and level up to lv. 50, you should see that the EVs have raised its stats significantly.

Yes, you can only see your final product at lv. 100. That's the level you should be doing all battles against others anyway.

If i rare candy it to lv 20 will that impact on Evs?

So then if i rare candy to lv 50 record its stats, restart the game and continue ev taining from lv 20 i would see a differance?

sorry for asking so many questions its just i really want to get onboard with this EV thing

There is a very hi-tech method of keeping track of EVs, and it's very simple once you get the hang of it.
