Please. Don't misunderstand. These are actually some of the CUTEST kids I have ever met. But seriously has me questioning society.
*Girl dressed in a pink, Princess Peach like dress.
This girl was SO ADORABLE! She made the top of my cutest and most disturbing list. Now why would something so precious be at the top of this list? Ok, get this, she was 7 years old. She came up to me and spoke. Her voice was that cute squeaky girl type voice that isn't grating or annoying. In this voice she went into extreme detail about a game called Splatter House. She described to me the story, the creatures you have to kill, and a few of her favorite death scenes. I was wiggin out and gave her dad the dirtiest stare as he looked down at her with his mouth wide open. We both laughed after the immediate shock wore off and she selected Call of Duty Black Ops 2 as the next game she wanted.
*Girl learning to spend money.
Ok so not scary like the first. This was an older girl. Around 10 or so. Her mom is teaching her to spend money in a way that she saves/doesn't get what she wants vs what she can afford. Basically she had a budget to follow. Needless to say she hit her mark from a mile away.
She comes up with about 5 items. Spends about $40. She pays me with a $100 bill. I give her her change and she looks up at me confused.
"So I pay for my stuff and this man gives me other people's hard earned money?"
Her mom looks down and thinks. "Ya something like that."
The little girl looks up at me and smiles, "I like that!"
I fall over backwards laughing my ass off and the mom turns bright red. My boss had to pull me out from the register until I calmed down.
*A young and very USA oriented boy
This actually happened when I first started. I met this young man when I first started working in the electronics department. He kept asking me where the discs of various Music CDs, Videogames, and DVDs were made. I was confused as to why he'd ask, but then he asked me to go over the labels of some toys he selected to see where they were made. After finding a few that were Made in the US, he went to put all of the others back.
His mom comes up to me and apologizes. I asked her why and she responds.
"He hates buying things made in other countries. He will only buy things made in the US to help support the economy here rather than paying money that could go to another country."
I was dumbfounded. He was like 4 years old. His mother said he refused to use any Pencil that wasn't a US made pencil in preschool. HOW the hell can a young kid be that patriotic? How would he even know how the economy works? His mother and father said they never told him anything about this and ever since he could understand words and what they meant he's been like that. I just couldn't believe the kid I had just met. It was mind blowing.
*Young boy with a small binder under his arm.
Ran into a kid...I wanna say he was 13. He was a bit taller and looked older than the others. he was flipping through what -I- thought was a card collector binder. When I get closer I notice coupons in the sleeves. The boy was trying to find coupons for various toys he had. I mean EXTREME COUPON moment. I ended up tailing the kid helping him pick out toys that matched his coupons. He even taught me a few things about how to coupon. Kid ended up buying about $250 worth of collectibles and toys and only spend around $90.
I have never seen anything quite like that before. I'm getting used to kids carrying big bills that make up about a third of my bi weekly checks, but still XD He saved over $100 in coupons that he clipped himself. His parents taught him to Coupon when he was 6 and he's been doing it on his own since he turned 11. I'm expecting to see him on Extreme Couponers one of these years. He's gotta be 16 by now so he's able to shop in a store without getting too many questioning looks. Maybe in another year or so I'll see him all famous. XD
