Why has'nt anyone considered my Idea that we can have a report Rep system - Is it Possible????

Also The main reason for rep spamming are
1)Newbe's(N00b's) who simply look at the bars of Rep the older members have and Give good rep to everyone and requesting one back.
2)People who get Bad rep.IF they find out who gave them it they go on having a gridge against that member!
3)Very Immature members who think this system is soo cool and having reps will make them admins....
So back to the first case If there is a report rep button the mods can find out who gave that rep and warn the member.But then again there is a chance that members will misuse this as well!

But that IS the problem, Brit. Personally, i love rep because i love reading the comments written. But, as i've said before, other ppl don't like it because of the ppl who pointlessly give eachother rep just to give themselves more blocks (which i dont like either, since its abuse of the system), and spammers giving bad rep. Some people are quite sensitive about their rep, and feel actually hurt that ppl abuse the system when they themselves do not.
I have suggested to those who dont like it to turn it off, but they don't seem to think its enough :\
It's just a shame that such a nice little system has been abused so badly.

I can tell ya what the problem is: YOU may not take it seriously, BUT there are some members who take it as a personal matter, really SERIOUSLY! some people get offended by the abuses given with bad rep, but though, they do not want to disable it because they want to seem popular and full of green boxes... that may seem stupid to you but some people get depressed on these stupid things...
EDIT: Claire said it before me.... oh well XD

Sure, there are members that take this seriously, but part of what I'm trying to do is to get them to not take it so seriously, because it's really no big deal.

Soon we'll be banning people for spelling mistakes and double posts :P
 
O.o what has this got to do with banning?
The point is, Brit, that we have tried to calm people down (hence already being on page 7, and within the thread in other chat by pokejungle), so just syaing "its no biggie" wont suddenly transform everyone :P
I'm looking at things from both sides -yeah i wish ppl wrent so serious, and i wish the abuswers would stop, but neither problems have subsided

Sure yeah, and how would you 'try' and get people not to take it seriously? Many people know that its not big deal but that doesnt mean that every single one has your own opinion ?_? Don't you think you're not considering this problem as you should?
And btw, what does your last sentence has to do with this matter? o.o'

I don't want everybody to take my opinion, just to consider it.
Why, is your opinion now better than mine?(ooh, dangerous remark :P)

And the reason I'm not 'considering this problem as I should' is because I don't think it's really a problem.

I'll let you both in on a little secret. People here like to... well they like to whine. I don't want it to sound harsh, but it's true. They want their mods appointed, they want mods to talk to someone for them, they want threads closed for double posts, and whatever else you can think of. I was once guilty of most of this stuff too.
The point I'm trying to make, is that just because people don't like something doesn't mean it's not the right thing to do. People get offended for trivial things and want it fixed because they just like to whine, and to me, this thread is a prime example of that.

The staff at PC can't tend to everything a member wants, especially when considering that most of the time, there is no answer, and both parties just have to 'shut up' and agree.
So I'm not saying that I support rep abuse, but I don't think removing rep, or having reputation bans is the right way to go either.

Some people should gain the maturity to not make a big deal of rep, and if someone gives you bad rep for no reason, it just shows how mature you are to ignore it.
 
But Brit, if enough ppl are against rep, then it may as well be turned off, surely you can understand that.

Did I ever say my opinion was better than yours? And in this case its not my opinion, because I don't find any problem in rep since i have only received pointless bad rep few times which didnt bother me at all... Its just that there are many other people (not me) who find rep a real problem and since I agree with their points of view I am trying to look for a better solution...

Is it YOU who defines whether something is really a problem or is it the community? :chinese:

Everyone is allowed their input, I'm part of the community incase you have forgotten. You both just seemed to shun my opinion.(well, not really Claire)
 
Well I read both sides of the story and I think that howeever fun the rep is, I think it is wise to ban rep! I mean its fun but its causes to much fuss to really be helpful and fun. If you ban it, people will no longer get offended, their fellings hurt, and other things like that. You need to think about the big picture and do what is right for everyone. Im not saying that the rep isnt good its just to much of a bad thing right now. O well whatever the mods decide Ill stand beside it *bows*
 
I don't think rep points should be banned completely.. just a few adjustments in the rules :) Like that you can see who gives u good or bad rep so u can report it when he/she makes abuse of it :D
 
That would be abused as well easily because even if they had a right to be bad repped they would still report it which really isnt much fair. Also the Mods might not have enough time to replyu to all the PM

You got a point but that'll just be one of the countless problems taken care of. A new problem will somehow arise someway to give most a new reason to gnash and grind their teeth. As long as trouble makers still exsist there will always be problems. Who knows if a resolution is made towards this rep system then the new problem may be open flame wars within threads. (And the last thing I think anyone wants is for this board to become anything like the craziness in the GameFAQs boards.)
 
Gamefaqs board?thats like the drug-dealer back alley of the internet!*shudders*Anyway,rep is a problem any way you cut it.There should be a hack to make every rep approval/disapproval 1 point.But,you only need 25 points to get a block.it would reduce problems.
 
Haven't you been reading? It works like this.

1. Person A makes a rude post.
2. Person B sees this and gives Person A bad rep.
3. Person A looks and sees that Person B has given them bad rep.
4. Person A then gives Person B bad rep in return.
5. Person B looks and sees the bad rep that Person A gave them, and gives them more bad rep.
6. Repeat 3-6.

Everyone seems to be against turning rep off, so I propose that we reset all people's rep to 10, limit the amount of rep you can give per day to 5, and limit the maximum rep power anybody can have to 10. Or something like that. xD
