Well, both Pidgey and Spearow count as normal types. And you could get a Raticate and then replace it later on. :P
(Also, Missingno. is a glitch; you're not allowed to use those. :/)

I caught a level 7 Pidgey and a Jigglypuff in the Jigglypuff area =)

Right a lot has happened since my last update.... so heres a new one :)

-Caught a Spearow as a HM slave (well just Fly)
-Flew to Pallet, then surfed my way to Cinnabar Island
-Had my fossil restored, sent Kabuto to PC
-Went into the 'abandoned mansion' and found some people (mostly burgalrs and scientists)... so beat them easily.
-Caught a Level 30 Koffing, and sent it to PC
-Found Secret Key
-Beat Blaine easily with Tentacruel
-Surfed back to Pallet, then made my way to Viridian.
-Beat 'Giovanni the greatest trainer' (as he called himself) very easily... Venusaur and Tentacruel tore through his team.
-Met up with Rival and beat him.
-Just at the start of Victory Roaad, preparing for some hard grinding before the E4

-Grinded for about an hour then got bored, so went to challenge E4
-Evolved Nidorino with Moon Stone
-Beat Lorelei using only Venusaur
-Beat Bruno with a combination of Tentacruel (for Onix's) and Haunter(for fighting types)
-Beat Agatha with Haunter's Psychic (for first 4 and most of Gengar) and Golbat (to finish of Gengar)
-Beat Lance with only Nidoking (Toxic to Horn Attack)
-Used absolutely everyone I had left to beat Rival (literally). I beat his Charizard with my last pokemon (Tentacruel) having only 22HP Left!

yes you may use your starter until he has become kadabra
emulators are fine as well, just no cheats or hacks please

Update 1

Started Psychic Monotype Challenge.
Named myself RED.
Named rival GREEN.
Chose Squirtle as my starter and named him/her KAMEX(Blastoise in Japanese. Why? Cuz it sounds cool.)
Green's Bulbasaur used growl a lot and got two critical hits.But I managed to win with 2hp.
Obtained Pokedex.
Defeated Green again.
Made it through Viridian Forest.
OHKO'd both of Brock's pokemon.
Kamex evolved into Wartortle.

my nidorina is lv (23) im deciding if i should just evolve her now so nidoqueen will know body slam
i just barely defeated my rival (Red) with my nidorina
planning on training some more and then battle misty which will be a challenge

-Buried Farfetch'd so deep in my storage system I'll never see its ugly face again

I screwed up and it left before I could grab all the items and kill- Er, make all the pokemon faint. Reloaded and team went back to level 20. Tsukuyomi disappeared.

-Went to the Game corner, and found a MYSTERIOUS BUTTON! OOooooOOOoooOOo
-Beat Giovanni!
-Gave the lazy guard some water
-Bubbles was insensitive to the dead pokeymans :<
-So I kicked his ass. <.<
-I caught a Cubone :D and a Gastly, as well as two Haunters. They went to the box, of course.
-Saved the old fart and was rewarded with the PokéFlute.
-Woke up a Snorlax and caught it.
-Got the Itemfinder
-Got Fly, and taught it to Roc.
-Caught a Dratini (YAY) and named it Scarlet, as well as a Slowpoke while fishing. Then I caught a Nidorino, an Exeggcute, and a Chansey (:DDDDDDD), who were sent to the box.
-Got Surf; the gold teeth, which I gave to the warden to get Strength.
-Retired Roc in favour of Scarlet. Training shall ensue.
