Hello, everyone. You can call me Reginald, or Reg for short. (I am not a legendary golem.) I am here to discuss the Pokémon games and hopefully learn about Pokémon ROM hacks.

My history with Pokémon is kind of all over the place. I watched the Indigo League anime when I was four onwards, but I got tired of it sometime during the Hoenn League, which is weird because I love the Generation III games. I have no memory of what made me quit watching. My first games were Yellow and Sapphire, but I wasn't a strong reader then, so I had no idea what to do. I started playing again in middle school when Black & White came out, and I got a lot more knowledgeable thanks to Bulbapedia as the years went on. (Nowadays, I like to pick out my team in advance, except for the recent Pokémon Violet.)

I like to write stories, but I've been in a slump with actually turning out a full chapter in recent years. It's a whole thing.

Also, I'm not sure how to bring it up, but if you ever get the impression I am autistic, the answer is yes, and I'm not joking.

    FAQ:

"Is that an Ed, Edd n Eddy profile pic?" Yes, it is. I'm glad you noticed. I'm not sure why Eddy is my mascot of the three. Things just kind of happened.

"Favorite Generation of Pokémon?" Gen III.

    "Favorite region?" Hoenn

"Favorite Pokémon move?" Before Game Freak removed it, Return.

"I heard u liek Mudkipz?" It's an older meme, sir, but it checks out.

"What are your favorite examples of Western Animation?" Ed boys, Grim Adventures, Jimmy Neutron, Kids Next Door, pre-sequel SpongeBob, pre-movie Simpsons, the Shrek films, Wreck-It Ralph 1, Toy Story, and Captain Underpants by Dreamworks.

"What are some of your favorite anime?" Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters[//I] (but the manga is better), and BoBoBo-Bo~Bo-BoBo

"Favorite music album?" The Strange Case of... by Halestorm

"Where are you from?" Kentucky. Our state fruit is the blackberry. It makes great jam for PB&J as long as it's seedless.

"Favorite video game of all time?" It's complicated. I can't choose just one.

I'm sorry this post was kind of long. I just wanted to ramble about some of my favorite things. Thank you to anyone reading all this.

Hello there Mr. Cosmic, or Reginald if you prefer, and welcome to the PC.

I can think of at least two questions your FAQ doesn't cover:

    Favorite pokemon?

    Favorite type?

"I heard u liek Mudkipz?" It's an older meme, sir, but it checks out.

Nice Star Wars by the way.

Hello, SuperAlex74. May I call you Alex? I usually go by Reginald or Reg, but Mr. Cosmic works too.

    To answer your questions:

    1) I don't have a favorite Pokémon, but some of my favorites include Blastoise, Raichu, Alakazam, Ninetales, Slowbro, Phanpy, Espeon, Skarmory, Mudkip, Flygon, Luxray, Haxorus, Fennekin, and Raboot. I'm sorry for favoring the first three gens with this post. I like *Pokémon Violet*, but I really love Gen III.

    2) Ground and Psychic are probably tied for my favorite. I thought about making a joke like "Favorite Type? Balanced" in honor of Gym Leader Blue Oak (or Green if you're going by the original Japanese versions).

Thank you for responding. I was worried no one would reply.

You can call me Alex if you like. Others on the site already do after all.

Nothin' wrong with loving Gen 3 at all. It's cool you like so many pokemon, that means if one or two are absent from a main series game you'll always have backups!

Ground's a type I know pretty well, Psychic I know mostly through multitypes like Gardevoir and Gallade.

No need to worry about that around here, it just sometimes takes a little while for the regular (and very friendly) greeters to show up and say hi.

Hello, Mr Cosmic, and welcome to the forums!
It is great to hear you have been into Pokémon for a long time! (I started with Red myself ^^)
    Have you played White 2 / Black 2 ?
It is alright if you need time to write stories, what matters is to enjoy it!
About being autistic, don't worry, there is nothing wrong with that. You may find more people here who are autistic than you may think. :)

My own favourite generation is the first one, but you might guess which pokémon from the third generation is my second favourite! ^^
To learn more about ROM hacks, feel free to check the Fan Games Hub section.
You can discuss about musics, anime and films in the Entertainment & Media section. Don't hesitate to have a look!
Your favourite pokémon are great ones indeed, and the Psychic and Ground types do have some fearsome moves!
No problem about making long posts, it is nice to chat with you!

Welcome! I really enjoy when users give so much information about themselves. In particular these stand out to me because I've been a DBZ and Yugioh fan for as long as I can remember. All the TV shows you listed are my childhood and I still watch them as a guilty pleasure. This community offers so much in terms of ROM Hacking information. I'm sure you can pick up a few things, and even ask questions when you have them. I can't quite point out when I stopped watching the anime or give a reason why. How did you like Violet? Anything you'd change about it?

Wow, thanks for the replies, both of you. I'm not sure how to reply in an organized way, so I'll just take it a step at a time.

    To Fact Checking Gardevoir:

It's nice to meet a long-time fan. I have not played B2W2. There's a whole story there, but I'm not in the mood to tell it. I replayed Pokémon Black Version some months ago. At first I was like, "I knew this thing was overhyped," but then I got to the second gym, and it's like, "All those wasted years!" I still need to complete that save file. I made it to the part where you have to find Gym Leader Skyla to challenge her. I think I was just juggling so many games (including other Pokémon games) that I just kind of put it on the back burner.

Yeah, Gardevoir's pretty cool. Ralts is like Abra if he/she was polite about being caught (plus Ralts can actually attack with Confusion), and it's really nice that Krilia evolves into Gardevoir at level 30 without me having to do anything special like buy a GBA or GBC link cable. That said, I would fight an army of Sirfetch'd to get an Alakazam. That said, it's nice that Gen III Gardevoir can learn Thunderbolt instead of just Shockwave cuz sometimes I don't have an electric-type on hand in those games.

    To tokyodrift:

It's nice to meet someone who remembers that era of Cartoon Network. I started the actual Yu-Gi-Oh! card game during the pandemic, but I've only played online. There's not many card shops in the Middle of Nowhere. (Oh, shoot, I forgot to add Courage the Cowardly Dog to that list.)

EDIT: I forgot to answer this question: Pokémon Violet is a really fun game, but it bothers me that they said you could collect the badges in any order when the levels don't adjust, so if you go after all the titans first, you'll be so over-leveled for the first five or six gym leaders. It's not a deal-breaker, but I wish they hadn't made it this way on a technicality. I don't know how they would fix it considering the devs were clearly crunched for time, but that's my honest opinion. [Edit ends here]

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

    Hello and welcome!

One of the things I like about the newer games is that trade evo mons like Alakazam, Gengar, etc. can almost all be found in the wild nowadays =D
Some only during specific weather and in gen 9 I've only seen them in raid dens, but still! Less of a need to set up trades =D
Have you played Legends Arceus? The trade evos there can even be done solely with items =3

What was your team or teams in Violet?
I personally stuck with a team of 6 (Meowscarada, Grafaiai, Flamigo, Espathra, Cetitan, Ceruledge), even if it meant certain titans/gyms/team star bases ended up being a joke xD

Have you played any spinoff games like say Pokemon Mystery Dungeon or (New) Snap?

My team for Violet thus far was: Crocalor, Kirlia, Luxray, Donphan, and Gyarados. (I'm going to challenge the Water-type gym leader next, so I'm about 40% of the way through the game, I think.) I was hoping to change Gyarados's Tera Typing to Dragon, so I could crown him "King of the Dragons," but people insist the Ground typing it better. I might change the team to include more new Pokémon, which is ... honestly part of why I've been taking a break from the game. Originally, I was kind of insulted that an online friend completed his Pokédex without me because I was busy with other stuff around the holidays, and he got impatient. (I helped him with some of the trade evolutions, and he helped me convince myself to complete the SV Pokédex cuz it's more manageable without the NatDex.)

I have not played Pokémon Legends Arceus yet. I was a little iffy on the idea of an open world Pokémon game with a crafting system. I've tried playing RPGs that aren't even open world (like Earthbound) without a guide, and I was always like "Someone, please tell me where to go. I don't know what I'm doing." I'm not sure what separates that from using Bulbapedia, but that was my opinion at the time (past tense), and I don't stand by it now. I don't know when I'll pick it up though. I have a lot of games I need to complete.

As for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, I'm sorry to disappoint, but I don't think the randomized dungeons are for me. I want to give Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon another shot one day cuz I was really enjoying the story before I lost to that Beedrill boss fight at the very beginning of the game and said to myself, "I REALLY don't feel like climbing that tower again."

Thanks for stopping by this page.
