Some people are saying that both of these games will be released in the summer 2010. Some are saying Zelda will be released in 2011 and I saw one person say super mario galaxy 2 will be released this febuary...what do you guys think?

I think a source of where you heard that would help start the conversation off better,

I think they will be released this year.

I think both will be out this year.

Mario, I think will be out for the holidays. Even though its pretty far along already, a Mario title at Christmas is an instant money maker.

    Zelda maybe an August release.

I'm very eager to see Super Mario Galaxy 2. Riding a Yoshi ought to be a thrill.
It'd be surprising if it takes Nintendo a very long time to develop it. Because they have already made the original, thus it would keep them in the groove, plus they would reuse the engine that was created for Super Mario Galaxy. Also they show quite a few scenes in the preview video, meaning that they have probably finished some already.

Regarding Zelda, the company will be releasing the much anticipated sequel before the end of this year.

    Source.

So, Zelda will be sometime in 2010.

They mentioned Mario Galaxy 2 would be in 2010 during last year's E3 (the full quote was that NSMB Wii would be out for 2009 holidays because they were waiting for 2010 for Galaxy).

I don't think that Zelda will have much of a chance to appear on markets this year if its title is still mum in the same year. Still, it's not something that I get to decide, so we'll see.

Well, there hasn't been a big gaming event to announce it yet this year. I'm sure there will be a ton of new info on it at E3. That said, they said that it'd be out this year a few weeks ago, so unless there is unforeseen delays, it should make it out.

Edit: It seems they've confirmed Zelda Wii is going to be unveiled at E3 this year and Nintendo of Europe is claiming a 2010 release, so it should definitely be out in America this year.

Well, I would believe more in a Q1 release of Super Mario Galaxy 2 because Nintendo wouldn't make a smart decision releasing it so far into the year if it was finished already. Galaxy 2 was finalized in November of last year, which means that the release date should't be too far off. And they did mention a Q1 release during that time.

As for Zelda Wii, they are attempting to shoot for a 2010 release, but the developers want it to be "perfect".

Surely the smart thing to do would be to wait until Christmas and maximize sales? If I were in charge of Nintendo, I would definitely wait until Christmas to release the game, even if it was already finished in February. I know that fans probably wouldn't be very happy, but it's what I'd do.

Indeed. You also have to think about what's in Nintendo's best interest. Mario, Zelda, and Metroid are not only big games on a Nintendo console but big games by Nintendo itself. They'll want to maximize sales of each of them without cutting into each other's sales. Timing is crucial.

I can't see Nintendo releasing Zelda, Mario, and Metroid all in one year. And considering we haven't even seen so much as a trailer for Zelda, I'd be very surprised if it released in 2010 - I'd say 2011 is more likely, and probably Christmas 2011 at that. I'd never put much faith into anything that comes out of Iwata's mouth about release dates - Nintendo's famous for delays.

I'm thinking they'll sit on SMG2 until Christmas (even though it's finished) and let that be their big holiday 2010 release since it has the most mainstream appeal and will sell the most out of the three. I think we'll see Metroid Other M around August, and Zelda will release in 2011.

I'd rather have Zelda this year than Metroid. I'm not all that interested in Other M.

Mario at Christmas, very likely. Metroid in August also likely given Prime 3's release. It'd be great if Zelda came out this year too. I'm going to hold on to that until we hear something else. For a game that was in development before Twilight Princess was released, it's time for them to send it out

I could imagine them making Super Mario Galaxy 2 a summer title and bringing Zelda out for Christmas.

Metroid could potentially come out with either of them, especially considering how this newer title is aimed at older audiences. I could even see Nintendo saving Metroid to throw it out against another company's big M-rated game.

It's kind of disappointing to hear this, because I don't even have a Wii yet...... :C

So whenever I get around to saving the money for one, I will have a lot of games on my list.
