    So, i've been asking myself if anyone thinks the way i do for quite a while. The thing is:
    Let's suppose you catch a pokémon you like in the begining of the game (let's say uhh... a Zigzagoon);
    Let's suppose tou level him up like 15-20 levels;
    Now, all of a sudden, your Zigzagoon is, let's say, level 25, and you find another Zigzagoon in the tall grass, in level 40.
    Now the question:
    Would you catch that Zigzagoon and release the other one?
    Would you press "Run" or make the opponent faint so your Zigzagoon can earn some exp.?
    Would you catch the other one, but keep the current Zigzagoon on the PC for later use?

    I'm wondering if i'm the only one one who would think about my Zigzagoon's feelings, i mean, the poor guy got hurt, got caught, started to like you and then tou ignore him forever, because you found another of his species with a higher level. It's sad, but i've seen a lot of people do that, and i don't think it's very nice.
    So, what do you think?

    I would keep the zigzagoon cos for some reason i care about my pokemon lol

    I would keep it if the wild Pokémon were only a few levels higher, but not for any stupid sentimental reason (they're pixels ffs). The trained Pokémon will have a fair few EVs after training, meaning in all actuality its stats will actually be higher than the wild one.

    Usually, pokemon I get attached to are rare, so they're only found in one location, therefore I'm not going to find one at a significantly higher level. However, I do pay attention to IVs, and I'm good at recognizing high IVs, so if I catch a pokemon that is all-around better, I'll replace it. Just logic, really.

    This has happened to me before. I always keep my original Pokemon no matter what.
    I get attatched for some reason.

    Ok, so, for the people who care only about the numbers, why do you find pokémon a fun game if you don't really like the pokémon you're playing with? Maybe i'm an ignorant, but i hate to play with pokémon who aren't mine or just to fight with them for 10 minutes, if i catch a pokémon, i'll learn to like him/her and i'll level him/her until level 100. So, why do you play? (I'm not saying it's a bad thing that you don't have the same reasons as me, i'm just curious)

    Liking a character isn't a prerequisite for playing a game, nor is it for anything like reading a book, watching a film etc. I like to play GTA4 on occasion, for example, but that doesn't mean I particularly like Niko Bellic, and I enjoyed 'salem's Lot, but I didn't like the character Ben Mears. I play games for enjoyment, but I get that from the gameplay and challenge rather than feeling some sort of attachment to the six 80x80 squares of pixels that do my bidding.

    Hmn, makes sense, but i rather have my attachment as a way of loving the game, because all pokémon are unique, so i feel like it's almost like having a dog in real life, for example, you can have a dog, sure, but it's your dog, that's why you like him, that's what makes him unique. So i almost feel like the "pixels" are alive.

    (I don't know if anyone noticed, but i actually use him/her for anything that's supposed to have life instead of "it" because "it" is an object, and in portugal, in our language, we use "ela" for she if the dog is female and "ele" if the dog is male, as well as we have a different name for the gender, "cão" for a male dog, and "cadela" for a female dog. I like it, it shows some respect for our little pets and all the other animals we love so much, and i use it in pokémon as well, because i love my pokémans <3)

    I remember doing this back in the days of RBY... When i had let's say an underleveled level 7 Rattata on my Team and then met a level 10 Rattata...
    Back then, it was worth it, it saved time, but now...
    There are EVs, there are natures... So No, because the new Pokemon would definetely be worse in the long run.

    I would just run or try to defeat the Pokemon. I don't see much point in catching the wild Pokemon because I can just train the one I have to be even stronger than the wild one.

    If I'm using Zigzagoon/Linoone then I'll keep the original because a) I get attached and b) Pokemon trained from lower levels are stronger. If I'm not using Zigzag/Linoone then I've already got one for my Pokedex so I won't waste my Pokeballs on another. So either way, I would not catch it.

    The situation's never come up for me. I level grind so much that it's virtually guaranteed that I'll be higher than any wild Pokemon foolish enough to cross paths with me. In any event, I'd most likely keep the one I have since I've put effort into training it up thus far in the game.

    Depends on who has the better nickname. That and I usually don't feel like training another one, even if it is a higher level. Ohhhh well. And don't feel bad about releasing it. It's just a pixel. And if you feel bad for it, just...leave it in the PC instead. Why bother with Zigzagoon, though? That should be the real question here.

    I keep mine, im kinda really picky about that.
    I especially dislike using traded pokemon, i prefer one iv raised and trained myself
