Releasing Your Pokemn

You see, this is why I've only ever completed my Blue 'dex. XD I don't actually catch Pokémon I don't want or need, so the only Pokémon I have in games (with the exception of Diamond) are ones which I use constantly, or ones waiting to be trained. The only Pokémon I've released recently have been hacks traded to me. -.-

This is going to sound cruel... yet, somehow related to the fact that I identify myself as a "rocket grunt". If I have no need for a pokémon any longer, I'll give it the boot. This, too, is going to sound very Rocket-y... if I find a rare pokémon or a shiny, I'll just leave it in the PC just to say I've got it.

My friend once released my Shayimin ....
Course I restarted my DS immediattly !
And no I DO NOT release these Pokemon . Just some dust to put on 'em in the Box *laughs evily* .

I've never once released any of my Pokemon from their boxes. Like the user above stated, I just store them in my boxes until I need them again.

Normally I dont release my Pokemon from the box unless I has absolutely no room for Pokemon or I have too many doubles... But in relation to your releasing myth question - No... That myth is a complete falsity and a waste of time... Releasing multiple trained Pokemon into the wild will not increase the base level of that Pokemon in the wild. It would be nice if it did but nope it doesn't.. releasing a Pokemon does nothing but remove it from your possession completely.

Yup, I release Pokemon. Call me Shinji/Paul/whatever, but if I get a bred Pokemon with crap EV's or a poor nature, it goes bye-bye. As for Pokemon caught purely for the Pokedex, I do tend to keep them as trading collateral. Surely someone on the GTS wants the Pinsir or Corsola I never intend on using, and if I can even get extra ID numbers for the Jubilife Lottery, it's worth keeping them around to be traded away later.

No guilt involved - it's just data.

I think that, if we're considering Pokemon as real creatures, it's much kinder to release it back into the wild than keep it locked up as data in a computer system for all eternity.

This is how I feel! I feel bad for leaving Pokémon to rot in a PC box when they could be running free...

Luckily I get over this when I realize it's just a game, haha. But this happens quite a lot. I rarely release Pokémon, but then again, I'm not much of a collector. I usually only catch ones I want/need.

I use all my Pokemon in Platinum, so no need in releasing them; they're all good, or will eventually be trained to become better! As for other games, I don't like releasing them. I accidentally released a Zubat in SoulSilver (trial and error when you can't read it, you know) so I freaked out and turned off the game and made sure to never click that button again. xD It was only a Zubat, but it makes me feel bad if I just say "GO AWAY!!!" I like to think of them as being at the lab with the professor. xD
