Replacing Overworld Sprites

I'm preparing a Pokemon FireRed Nuzlocke, and have decided that I want to replace the overworld (and maybe in battle?) main character sprite. I've been trying to use NSE, but have found many problems, and am stuck with it distorting the colors for every sprite, even though the palette should be working consistently.

Is there another way to go about this? I have most of the sprites finished.

It says I'm still on palette 0, but when I try to import the sprite, it asks if I want to change the palette at offset something-something. However, the two sprites (0_0 and 0_1, where I've stopped to try and fix it) have the same 16 colors.

I'm going to see if I've simply messed up on one of the sprites.

Edit: Nope. Different parts of different sprites aren't working.

Is there a way to change overworld sprites in NSE 2? Or in a different program?
This is sprite 0_0, for reference:

Honestly, I'm not sure what I'm using beyond the fact that it's NSE.

I changed the palette so that the background was first, and I think it changed the green to black (which shows up in game) and the black to green (which is transparent, now?).

And the colors are still incorrect on the second sprite.

I'm sorry, but I'm a bit clueless about NSE.

Here's what it looks like, with one of the sprites that's not appearing correctly colored :

With this, I can choose 'open in NSE', which then has an option called 'import sprite data'. If I use that
I can load a sprite + its palette, then I bring up the palette viewer with ctrl + p and choose 'save palette to rom'. This overwrites the palette used for the original sprite (00) with the palette that my new sprite uses. Then I just save and refresh the view with F5 and my new sprite + palette is in... and I can put in the other frames of the sprite easily by repeating the process for each frame except this time I don't need to replace the palette because I already inserted the palette that my sprite uses into palette slot 00.

Alright, thank you. I will try it when the morning comes, and update with how it goes.

    Seriously, thank you!

(Uh, pardon me again, but where did you find the OW Editor?)

Well, I just downloaded it from there, and within the files of it I can find the OW Editor, but when I launch NSE 2 itself and load the Rom, nothing happens.

At this point, I really hope I'm not just being blind and missing something obvious lol

I'm just going to take a little break for a few days and start over. Thank you for trying to help!!
