So yes, how about this? another decent first episode in my opinion. I liked the main girl, the music seemed good, the quality was what you'd expect from Production I.G, the directing was good and it was all quite pretty (even the CGI).

Some of the fanservice seemed a little forced but it could have been worse.

If the story is anything decent we might have a very good show on our hands here.

It's probably the best first episode I've seen this season from an original work, probably shows the most promise too. I have great promise for it. The fact that they're breaking the cours up with a 3-month break like Fate/Zero is doing gives me hope they plan on doing it right, too.

Well there's a bit of a difference between those two since fate/zero was originally supposed to run a full 24, and was broken up later. Something that starts out as two seasons is a bit less on that scale.

To tell the truth, it reminds me a bit of the beginning of Gunbuster with the mechs in a school setting way.

I haven't seen Gunbuster but most of the mecha shows I've seen have been school setting, even if I would prefer older characters I don't mind that much. It's all about quality of characters anyway and these seem ok *that finishing move*.

They'll probably leave it on a massive cliffhanger just to make people watch the second part.

It exceeded my expectations. Nice animation quality, good OST so far, and I was pretty surprised with the quality of the CG as well. There were some scenes where I could have sworn the mechs were animated in 2D for short periods of time, which (if they weren't) is a testament to how good the CG was. That first mech battle aped Eva a bit too much (though it's not like this isn't a common thing since 1996), but the show is enjoyable enough in other areas that it doesn't have to try too hard with the mecha portions and still be good. If nothing else it'll probably be a really pretty series, but hopefully more than that.

I liked the first episode a lot, it's sort of a toss up between EVOL and Lagrange for my fav first ep this season.

Lots of "stripping" went on in the first ep. And then there's this...

I broke out laughing and couldn't stop.

I think Kyouno Madoka is my favorite new character this season. The combination of genki and awkward is always fun. I also discovered that I like girls wearing tracksuits for leisure.

Sooooooo, supposed "helpful" aliens are probably not actually allies because they just had to put in the guy with the Ichimaru Gin face that screams ULTERIOR MOTIVES. (well, he kind of admitted as much himself this episode, but not explicitly.) I'm sure Eureka (can't remember her name, all six or seven portions of it) will side with humanity, though.

I'm bored of the concept of mechas that are controlled by emotion or whatever, so I'm glad they got this episode over with early so the fights (hopefully) don't have to be encumbered by liminal soul-searching whatever. I want Madoka being Madoka in the cockpit.

Animation remained excellent, I love that some of the mecha is 2D, even if it's mostly stationary when it's 2D. The world is clean and futuristic without feeling overly cold, which is probably attributable to the ocean/beachside locale. Either way, I hope that there's a good balance of regular life/mech battles in future episodes, as I really liked the look of the civilian locales featured in the first episode and want to see more.

After two episodes, I think I'm enjoying Lagrange more than anything else this season save for Nisemonogatari. It's amazing what a little animation budget and good music will do for a show with a not-terribly-unique premise. Did I mention the OP and ED are both great?

My bias opinion is that Aquarion is the better mecha show this season in both terms of animation quality and story, but this show has a lot going for it as well. I like the character designs, particularly for the main girls. The plot however, definitely has some warming up to do.

Second episode was just as good as the first one, the two main girls are genuinely entertaining to watch and it remained pretty.

And yes, squinty eyed dudes are known to tell a lie or two.

Ai Kayano was voice acting in it, her voice is starting to be everywhere. Her rampage over the last few seasons would lead me to believe we have a new Hanazawa or Kugimiya on our hands as far as typecasting goes at least.

Certainly a pretty opening, there are better songs Wonderland by Flip on 'tama and Higher Ground from that football show but yeah animation included it probably is the best.

Oh how could I forget the best past of Kill me Baby, I love the ending.

Now personally I don't find either of those preferable to Try Unite musically, individual taste and all that though. Can we all just agree that Another has the worst OP of the season, at least? Die Ali Project DIEEEE. (speaking of which, I need to make a thread for that. First episode was really good.)

I like Ali Project and their one song, especially when it was used on Noir. That Russian polka leekspin whatever on Kill me Baby is so bad it's good.
