ok so maybe it's just me but my rivals (cherin and bianca) are ANNOYING! cherin almost always wins against me except for these past two times and bianca...well...she's extremely flighty and i believe she was arrested for having an ounce of crack on her at some point.

anywho, how does everyone else feel about their rivals?

Lol, I had a good time battling my rivals. They never bothered me one bit. Perhaps you should level up your Pokemon some more if you're having problems battling Cheren.

I don1t because they can be very ease to handle.Given a good type coveraging team they are easy.So no

Cheren is not to hard of an opponent for me really. I don't care for his character either, he comes off like a know it all. Like when you went to Juniper lab he was trying to explain everything and Juniper said pretty much "Thanks Cheren, but it's kind of my job to instruct the new trainers not yours". He seems to aimlessly seek strength but when he is confronted with Alder he doesn't know what to do with it. He seems alright rival but I am not really a fan of him but I do like that he heals your pokes often(although that's not much of a rival in my eyes if he does that). Bianca just seems to be like female version of Barry. She is quite energetic as you can tell. Seems she spends more time playing "bodyguard" then honeing her own skills and she wonders why your character is so much stronger. I would still take a rival like Blue or Silver over these two a day.

I did find Bianca's character to be quite annoying but as for the other guy, I didn't find annoying at all. They were both easy to beat and I never got angry when I didn't want to battle him because I was always prepared for the both of them.

I didn't really have much trouble with either, though Cheren's Haxorus was a huge pain in the rematches, at least at first. Bianca's Musharna was really tedious to defeat, what with its Defense Curl and Hypnosis spamming, though its attacks weren't all that powerful. On a non-battling note, I did like how Game Freak actually gave a crap about their character-development, something they've been doing more and more of recently.

They both get on my nerves, not because of their battling because they just say stupid things and show up at annoying times :P

How can you have problms with cheren? As long as you fight all the trainers on the journy it should give you enough exp to zoom through these games.

I liked the concept of having 2 rivals because of their distinct and unique personalities (Cheren pursuing to be a strong trainer, while Bianca is unsure of herself).

My rivals never even caused damage to any of my Pokemon except for the first battles when you obtain the starters...

Well, Cheren was a little more "I NEED TO BE STRONGER THAN YOU!" than I had expected at first, but it didn't really bug me. His story, however, was nowhere near as good as Bianca's(whose name I still wish stayed Belle). I'm going to be a little annoyed if Bianca does not become champion in the third game, it would be so amazing for her story and character development~

I never had trouble with either of them, my Pokemon were always quite stronger. The most that they ever did to me was faint a Pokemon or two.

Hoenn actualy had a two rival scenerio but You only fight may in a few spots and are done fighting her once you reach lilycove, Wally only battles ou in mauville and victory road.

I hope you get to fight those two a few more times in the honn remake games.

well i'm doing better beating my rivals now because i've been training like crazy but the first time i battled cheren i lost. it was quite the devastating blow to me since i'm usually the one kicking everyone's butt. lol

Cheren is annoying because he talks big despite me totally dominating him every time we battle. I don't mind Bianca as much, though I do wish she'd take the whole training thing a bit more seriously. I mean, at least make an attempt to look like you're trying to win...

Hey, at the very least they play a fairly active role in the storyline. And they aren't running headlong into you like a certain other rival...

tbh I think the rivals are fine, but not necessarily rivals, since they're more like team mates, whereas compared to previous generations, yeah they were rivals. Really though, they may be annoying, but they give you more exp points/money/etc when battling them, so it's a good thing kinda. tbh they were both easy, though iirc, Bianca was harder? Idk, one of them was harder!

I honestly miss some of the old rivals, more or less Gary. I just see them as "Friends" and not too rival like. But I never had a problem with them, both pretty easy to defeat in battle.

I actually really liked both Cheren and Bianca! They were both very "real" and very "human", with both strengths and flaws. I felt that Bianca especially grows a lot over the course of the storyline(not knowing who she is or what she wants out of her life, something I think everyone can identify with!), but Cheren also grew as a character as well(when his ideas were challenged he had the very human response of denying it, but then learned to consider that challenge, ultimately learning that his ideals were flawed and discovering a true ideal to pursue). I felt that this also tied in well with what N described as "truth vs. ideals", with Bianca searching for the truth inside of her, contrasting with Cheren who pursued an ideal to define himself by.

tl;dr I liked them both a lot as characters, and I'm glad that character development seems to be a growing priority in the Pokemon games, haha. ^^
