Well I haven't been able to do much because SOMEONE won't give me any events to script :P
I've been reviewing Neti's Gaoya maps and I think the cause of the trouble is the tiles. I've got a few suggestions for you to consider adding (nothing major, just slight additions that could add to the essence of Gaoya mapping):
- The fence tiles from Lilycove/Rustboro
- The Sootpolis houses
- The Rustboro lamposts
- If you don't want to go with the Rustboro lamposts, I really like the lamposts in Never Black & White so if you could get permission to use them, that might be better
- Celadon/Cycling Road lamposts
- Cycling Road path
I never really liked the Battle Frontier houses so I've come up with some other house tile you could use that, I think, fit the Gaoya style. Also, I don't know how you were planning on doing door animation given that door animations in R/S/E are two tiles in height:
- Celadon Houses
- Fuchsia Houses
- Fallarbor Houses
- Power Plant Tiles
- Pewter City Museum
- Cinnabar Mansion
- Cinnabar Lab
