    In D/P/PT, you can encounter Rotom in the Old Chateau inside the TV, at night only, and you can only encounter one. For some strange reason, when you encounter it, it has legendary battle music. This made me think as a kid that Rotom was a legendary Pokemon.

    That being said, did you catch Rotom in D/P/PT? Did you think Rotom was a legendary Pokemon back in the day?
     
    I'm pretty sure that most people thought that Rotom was a legendary when they first played Diamond/Pearl. The fact that the legendary battle music plays during your battle with it, that there's only one that you can catch in the game, that you can't encounter it until the post-game (although they changed that in Platinum), and how you have to do something remotely specific to encounter it (interact with a TV at night), it all makes it seem so very much like it was intended to be a legendary Pokemon. And yet it's not for some reason.
     
    I don't know why, but I never thought Rotom was legendary. Even with it's battle music. I remember being called an idiot by other people back in the day when I tried to tell them it wasn't legendary.
     
    I captured Rotom in all my games, although I neverused it on any of my teams. I remember thinking that Rotom was a Legendary Pokemon however, because the Legendary Pokemon battle music played when you encountered it.

    I used Rotom in Platinum and I was convinced it was a Legendary...I mean, it's right at the end of the dex, there's only one, and it has a pretty neat design. Better than Phione/Manaphy at least, and they count. So yeah. I was kinda upset when I found out that it wasn't, although I suppose in hindsight Gen IV had enough Legendary Pokemon without adding another one. It was a pretty useful Pokemon, although I did miss Shinx, which was my usual electric type in Gen IV games.
     
    i never knew rotom was in there. just knew it during my previous playthrough two years ago :p. I planned to use it but can't be bothered since I didn't know how to get the other formes (and luxray was just more convenient)
     
    I have Rotom in my current Platinum team, although I can't use any of its other forms as they are event-locked.

    I used to think it was a legendary when I first encountered it, probably because of it having the same battle music as Giratina and Heatran.
