((OOC: Okay, I remember posting, but apparently that didn't go through. Crap. That post was extremely long. x_x Ugh, and we even traded places too. Well, alright. Seems I'll just have to go along with it...Also, I am not quite sure if this would be what the Tyrant would do, nor do I think he is strong enough to do it himself. Let me know so I can edit. :P Maybe the Tyrant's best man? XD This is also important to Miharu's personal plot since she didn't really have a reason to go on this journey in the first place. XD))
Miharu felt amused when Aqua-san and Silver-san started to serenade to each other. She noticed the love that the two had in their eyes and knew that it probably wasn't just a crush. Although, they were embarrassed and shy a few moments later. Hm, looks like she'll have to push them together after all.
Miharu felt pity for Aqua-san when she mentioned why she was crying. She didn't sympathize, Miharu didn't have parents so she didn't know how it would feel to lose one. Sure, the mothers of the village tried to baby her when she was small and when she came back, but it wasn't the same.
Miharu was about to follow Rei-san, Silver-san, and Aqua-san when she was suddenly stopped by a huge pain in her heart. She blinked, and then it disappeared. She stood there for a few moments when someone ran through the door. She glanced at the person at the door and blinked.
There was a girl with long brown hair, her bright brown eyes shimmering with tears and her eyes were red. She had tear tracks all over her face and although it was apparent that she had been running for a while, there was nary a speck of dirt on her completely white clothing. She also had a small, silk backpack on her back. The girl's name was Hikari and she was a warrior monk from Miharu's class at the temple.
"Mi-Mi-Miharu?" stuttered Hikari. Miharu was by Hikari's side in an instant.
"What is wrong?" asked Miharu. She then remembered the feeling she had momentarily. "Is the High Master dead?" she asked tentatively.
Hikari sobbed as her legs gave out on her. Miharu grabbed her arms and set her down gently, knelling herself.
"Yes," Hikari whispered, before grabbing Miharu around the waist and started sobbing. Miharu embraced her tightly and closed her eyes. She would not allow herself to cry. The time of mourning will be later.
"He would not want Hikari-chan to cry if he died peacefully in his sleep," whispered Miharu.
Hikari broke from Miharu's embrace, glancing up at her, eyes suddenly filled with anger and hatred. "He didn't die in his sleep! He was killed!"
"Killed?"
Hikari nodded and sniffled. "Remember the copy of the letter the king sent you that you sent to us? Remember its objective?"
Miharu nodded. "Yes, defeat the tyrant who calls himself Unknown...Oh."
Hikari sniffled again. "Yeah, oh. He, or his enforcer, infiltrated the temple without detection. He started to do battle with the High Master and of course we heard the noise. However, we were unable to come close due to a barrier surrounding the two of them. Plus, their powers was just too strong...The High Master managed to cut of his arm, but gained a mortal injury in return. We-" Hikari sobbed. "We saw him die in front of us. When the High Master stopped breathing, that man sent down the barrier and said, 'Now that your master has been defeated, there is no one in the temple strong enough to defeat me. Although, he managed to cut off my arm in return. He was strong, but not strong enough.' He then left and we were all too shell shocked to try and stop him. After he left, the temple went into chaos trying to pick the new High Master. Since you are the only one alive who has defeated the High Master," Hikari reached into her bag and took out silver and gold clothing. Miharu held onto it tightly as Hikari bowed low, her head almost touching the ground.
"You are now the High Master, Miharu-sama."
Miharu flinched, but placed a hand on Hikari's shoulder as if allowing her to rise. Hikari rose and Miharu hugged her again.
"Hikari-chan, as soon as I finish with the mission, I will come back to the temple and become the Head Master. I vow to you this," Miharu whispered.
Hikari nodded. "I must go now to tell the monks at the temple about this."
They both waited for a few moments when Miharu suddenly realized that she would have to tell Hikari to leave.
"Go."
Hikari bowed to Miharu then left in a run. Miharu stood by herself in the room before leaving. She had to change.
-x-
After finishing changing, Miharu breathed in the fabric that was so familiar to her. She remembered the day she started training when she had asked a very simple question.
"Where is my family?" asked Miharu. She was currently three years old. "Or, do I not have one."
The Head Master smiled at Miharu. "I am now your father and this-" The Head Master gestured to the warrior monks and the temple itself, "is now your family."
Miharu breathed out a chocked sob, but did not cry. The time of mourning will be later. When the mission was over. Miharu pushed her emotions to the side and walked to where her teammates were.
She was now wearing a silk shirt and pants. The base colour was silver and there were gold cuffs at the ankles, wrists, and the neck. There was also a gold dragon at the back of the shirt, roaring at the enemies. Her hair was tied together, although put down, with a gold ribbon. Her shoes were basic gold shoes, wrapped around the toes and heel, but left the instep wide open.
Miharu noticed that Silver was holding a cat and blinked, but she smiled at her teammates. "Sorry for being so late. A friend dropped by with a message and a change of clothes. Is that Silver-san's cat?"
Miharu knew she hid her emotions far too deep for anyone to notice that anything was wrong with her. The time for mourning will be for after the mission. For now, there will be nothing.
