Runaways

((Ooc)) Well, I'm sorry you won't be able to keep up, PokeGirl. I'm sure we could take turns controlling Ria.

((Ic))

Jolta stood panting, rooted to the spot as she watched the Meganium Morph struggle for a single breath. With that collar on, he was never going to give up. She smiled, amused by his fierce determination, and finally moved, walking towards him.

"Heh. Let's let the guy live. He put up a good fight," She said, drawing closer. Jumping, she landed on a tree branch near Berne and his captive. With a flick of electricity, the collar fell off, landing on the ground in shattered peices. The Meganium Morph coughed, and fell to the ground holding his throat.

"What... what happened?" He asked in a confused, but still kind voice. He looked around with wide brown eyes, until his gaze locked with Jolta's. "Was it you?"

She arched an eyebrow. "Was it what?"

"The one who freed me?"

"Yeah, what of it?"

"Thank you."

Jolta was stunned. No one had ever thanked her for something. Her green eyes softened for a moment, and layers of emotional shields melted away. She didn't know how to react to something like this, this....kindness... It was like trying to speak in a foreign lanuage. Instead of answering him, she turned away, heading towards the north. The shields were back.

Blaze whispered to the recently freed Morph, "She thanks you," then trotted after her, talking about the battle nonstop.

That seemed sufficiently short. Rine leaned casually against the tree, balancing skillfully on the limb as he observed the others. Casting his scarlet gaze briefly toward Jolta, the Sneasel morph's eyes narrowed. And, apparently she is not quite as hardened as she would have us believe. Interesting. An odd smile--almost a smirk, flitted across Rine's features before his eyes returned to the others.

Having battled Berne, he decided that the Pidgeot morph was skilled enough to have noticed his presence. Thus, Rine gave a casual, vaguely taunting salute to Berne before vanishing.

"As you wish." Berne replied to Jolta's decision, relaxing his stranglehold as soon as the Meganium morph was free from his collar and approached Jolta with almost pitiful gratitude over his freedom. What was surprising to the Pidgeot morph was the Jolteon morph's reaction to this, although she said nothing it was obvious to Berne that those simple words of gratitude held incredible meaning for her, much like Anna's reply had held to him. Perhaps... Berne thought for himself, watching the one who had come of as little more than a vicious killer with newfound curiosity Perhaps we are not so different after all Jolta...

"Did I say something wrong?" the Meganium morph inquired, turning to Berne and snapping him back to the present, apparently confounded by the lack of a reply.

"To the contrary I believe." the Pidgeot morph replied quietly "She was merely surprised by your words, but I would be much obliged if you let go of my wrists now."

"Oh, sorry." the Meganium morph replied, withdrawing his vines with a sheepish expression "And I'm sorry that I hurt you." he added hastily as he noticed that he had struck a good blow into the Pidgeot morph's forehead "I didn't mean to, honest. It was the collar that-"

"I know, I know." Berne replied, waving a hand dissmissively to indicate that the conversation was over. He cast a quick glance towards the spot where he had seen Sneasel morph, just in time to see him leave with a casual mock-salute, apparently aimed at Berne, before dissapearing from view.

The Pidgeot morph's eyes narrowed in suspicion. What was he playing at? He shook his head, turning his gaze elsewhere to avoid awkward questions. Berne flew over to Anna, who had been lying low for the duration of the battle.

"Are you alright?" the Pidgeot morph asked, keeping his expression and voice carefully neutral and attempting to sound bussiness like so as not to seem sentimental.

OOC: Okay then bye Pokegirl! I'll make sure to include Ria. ^__^ Good luck with school, it can be so stessful!

Anna
===========

Strange that Jolta should be so surprised that the morph was grateful; after all, she did save him from Bob. It was something I could barely understand, being so open about feelings and gratitude. Berne had flown over to me and asked if I was okay.

"Oh, I'm alright," I said, nodding at the same time. I looked around for the sneasel morph but noticed he was gone. Then I looked at Berne again.

"Thank you for jumping in front of me Berne!" I said with a smile, "I don't think I would have been able to do much to protect myself right then, wobba, I was too surprised."

I noticed that Ria still looked quite shocked about what had gone on. She seemed a bit quiet and in a world of her own. 'I should try to cheer her up once we get going again,' I thought to myself.

I turned back to Berne again, "Really, I will try to make it up to you somehow. I don't know how exactly, but I will think of something."

OOC: Meh, short post, I've gotta finish English homework... -_- I hate English....

OOC: I know what you mean. Although I just hate homework...-_-

IC:

Berne smiled slightly at Anna's statement. Make it up to me? he thought for himself, Doesn't she realize how much she has already done? I might have prevented a bad accident but it's still meager compensation.

"There is no need to speak of repayment." the Pidgeot morph replied after a pause, deciding to bring forth some of his thoughts on the matter "You've already done more for me than anyone else ever has. Besides, friends carry no debts..." there was a new, warmer tone to the word 'friend' which hadn't been present when Berne had used it earlier, one that suggested that he really meant what he was saying. "At least that's the phrase as I have heard it." the Pidgeot morph concluded, suddenly feeling a sharp throbbing in his forehead and instinctively covering it with his right hand. "Excuse me..." he said "I think I need to go find someting to chill my forehead, I'll be back in a moment."

The Pidgeot morph took flight, heading in the direction of a small lake he had spotted earlier and crouching down beside it. What's happening to me? he wondered for himself as the pain seemed to move from his forehead to the bone between his eyes.

Berne reached into the pond, shut his eys and splashed several handfulls of the cold liquid within on the spot where it hurt, the pain subsiding fairly quickly. As his eyelids opened once more, the Pidgeot morph came face-to-face with his reflection and made a disturbing discovery; the faint rings of light blue around the edges of his eyes seemed to have expanded, now covering about one third of the complete area of the eyes, making them look even stranger than before.

Berne staggered backwards, This... he told himself This is just an illusion, my mind playing tricks on me...or is it? he took a second look into the pond, only to find the same pair of eyes stubbornly looking back at him. I...guess I'll just have to get used to this then. Berne concluded, resuming a proper standing position, concerns over this new development still occupying his mind as he rose back into the air and returned to the others.

"So, um, where are all of you guys going?" The Meganium Morph inquired, turning his sienna gaze toward Anna, "I heard that Jolteon girl mention something about the north, so would you mind if I come too? And, by the by, I'm Ianto, at your service."

Blaze bounded up to him, already attached to this newcomer. "I'm Blaze!! And the moody, vicious, psychopath killer chick over there is Jolta!! Anna, ze Wobbafett Morph is the one your speaking to, and the dude who just flew off is Berne!!" He exclaimed, hopping around Ianto. "And, the quiet person over there is Koji, but he doesn't talk much."

Koji stood in the shade of a a tree, glaring at Ianto. His claws twitched as though he was ready to scratch something.

"Oh.... kay..." Ianto muttered, noticing the Sandshash Morph's anger. No one else seemed to.

"Are we gonna go yet?" Came Jolta's mocking and yet melodious voice. She was sitting in a tree high above the other Pokemorph's, listening to their conversation. "Berne will find us, but theres no doubt Bob has men headin' this way as we speak." Her black tail waved around lazily.

"I'm right here actually..." Berne said at Jolta's last remark, stepping into view from within the canopy and purposefully avoiding eye-contact with the other morphs so as to avoid questions about the change in his eyes. He knew that it was probably wasted effort, but still...

"So, are we moving out then?" he asked, addressing the entire group. "I for one would like to reach more easily defended ground before we have to stop and rest."

He cast an interrogative glance at the group, noting specifically that there seemed to be tension between the Sandslash morph and the newcomer, whom Berne surmised to be another recruit for their cause. The Pidgeot morph didn't bother analysing or highlighting the fact however as his mind was still too preoccupied with his own change.

"Right-o, let's go!!" Yelled Blaze enthusiastically. He twirled on three paws, somehow managed to trip on his tail, and flipped, knocking Ianto down, who tried to grab a branch that slipped out of his hand. The branch made the tree shake, and Jolta, who wasn't balenced all that well, fell and landed on Koji, who tumbled into the tangled Ianto and Blaze.

"BLAZE, YOU FREAKIN' IDIOT!!" She roared, "CAN'T YOU EVEN WALK ON YOUR OWN FOUR FEET?!?" She sat up at the same time as Ianto, coming too close for her to feel comftorable.

Koji sat a little ways off, leering at them.

"What?" Asked Jolta angerly. She scotted away from him, standing, and walking away. Ianto picked up Blaze, muttering something inaudiable. Blaze (once he could stand on his own), jumped around the group, barking and obviously having fun causing chaos for everyone else.

He decided to stick around Berne for awhile. "Hey ho, to the North we go!!!" He sung, clumsily dashing to and fro.

My, my... Berne thought for himself, a slight smirk forming on his face as he followed the exchange between the three other morphs Is Koji getting a bit jealous by any chance?

On a normal day, the Pidgeot morph would have been concerned over the treath to group stability that this turn of events could pose, but right now he was, possibly for the first time in his life, actually feeling mischievous and saw no reason to try to quel whatever was going on.

As Blaze entered his vicinity and struck up what could possibly be referred to as a song, Berne gave the Growlithe a tired look. "Blaze, you really are insufferable, you know that?" he asked, although he couldn't quite seem to make his voice sound as critical as he would have intended and it ended up sounding almost like a compliment. The Pidgeot morph shrugged, What's happening to me? he thought for himself, now even more disturbed by his own feelings What the heck is happening to me?

OOC: Wow, my made-up Meganium guy actually has a purpose now... XD Well, it's better than him just dying off. ^^

Anna
==========

I trotted along the side of the group, asking Ria questions about the plants around them and finding that Ria knew quite a bit when it came to the surrounding area.

"Hm... I don't know that one Anna," Ria said, smiling a bit, "Maybe someone else does, ria."

I blinked, "That's okay, you know more than I do."

Jolta, Ianto, and Blaze had all taken a tumble. I laughed at them a little, they looked quite silly in contrast to the scary way they had looked a little while ago.

Ria then looked at me seriously, "Hey Anna... can I ask you something?"

I nodded politely, "Sure Ria, I've asked you plenty."

Ria took in a deep breath, and looked as if she didn't want to bring this up buit couldn't help it. "Anna, I was just wondering what Bob made you do? I've always been a bit curious about what he does with psychic morphs. We haven't run into a psychic morph yet, but if we do, it would be nice to know what we'll be up against."

Thinking for a moment to myself, I nodded, "Okay, wobba... but some of it's kinda serious and sad AND scary." I paused.

"I never have gotten to do much of the high level stuff, but I saw what happened to some of the... the others. One, who used to almost be a friend of mine, sometimes we would say a few things to each other, and he even let me share a bit of his lunch one time; even though it was against the rules." I smiled a bit to myself.

"He was a Kadabra morph, and one that was really good too. He could lift things like big boulders and throw them at people. He was so good, that Bob tranferred him to the next level. Then he started doing other things... things like to other morphs...," I shuddered, remembering the screaming coming from the lesson room next to mine.

"He was made to hurt people... with his mind. Bob gave him other morphs, ones he didn't need or want anymore, and told him to do things to them. They wouldn't even have time to fight back, they would just get hurt and slowly die. After a while of him being in that level, the Kadabra morph never talked to me, he would glare at me and look very angry all the time. I- I wasn't very good, so I didn't advance past where I was then. I think Bob... Bob was about to get rid of me too... and that's why the Kadabra guy kept glaring at me and wouldn't talk to me anymore."

As I said those words, it was the first time it really sank in... my almost friend Kadabra morph-- going to torture me? And I had left out something very crucial to which I did not want to tell anyone else.

I was good at what I did. I was good at using psychic powers; but I chose not to learn anything, because if I did, I knew I would have to do what the others had to do. I would have let Bob kill me before I would have been made to do that. This was a secret I kept to myself at all times. Even though I was out of Bob's control for now, I still had the learned stigma of fear and worry over what Bob might find out. I wondered what had become of my old peer, Kadabra morph, but I couldn't think of him long without beginning to feel afraid.

"Oh, that's about it," I concluded, trying to act my cheerful self again, "It's a lot of sad stuff, but now that we're away from Bob, all that will be different, right?"

Ria nodded. She hoped that's the way it would be.

I looked over at Berne. Something seemed a bit different about him; though at the moment I couldn't pinpoint it, and so I shrugged it off.

Jolta's ears twitched as she listened to Anna's description about her life as a Moprh. It was obvious she was scared of herself. She was scared of becoming too powerful, too dangerous. Jolta knew exactly what she was talking about, but, she had crossed the line. The Jolteon Morph hated herself and everything she had become.

But then... There was Anna, who always had a smile, and Berne, who kept her from getting too out of hand. Clumsy Blaze, who made her laugh inside. Then there was Koji, who she always felt calm around, and Ianto, who made her feel.... happy. For the first time since Katsuo betray her, Jolta was happy.

Anna and Ria's voices snapped her out of her thoughts. She turned around, facing the Wobbafett Morph. "I really am sorry...." Jolta expressed, "And I've met your friend before. We worked on the same level, level 9. I almost killed him..."

Level 9. just three levels away from 12, the highest point one could reach. It made Jolta sudder to think of what would have happened if she had made it up there.

"I was used for assassinations and charging up the entire camp when electricity was down. I also had weapons and gadets tested on me. It wasn't exactly the most fun thing to do." She said no more of what had happened. Why am I telling them this? Jolta wondered, confused. She turned away from all of them, letting her words sink in.

Berne turned away from his own concerns to listen to Anna's story, paying closer heed to the Wobbuffet morph's expressions than her words. He had a definite feeling that there was something that his friend wasn't telling, but he didn't wish to pry, knowing full well that there were some things better left unexplained. He couldn't, however, avoid noticing that Anna spoke of her own progress with fear in her voice. The Pidgeot morph's attention was soon shifted elsewhere however, as the normally reclusive Jolta confided a part of her own activities in the camp to the group.

"Assassinations?" Berne echoed "I am sorry. They rarely put me to those even though I was a level 11." he shrugged, giving an expression that bore a certain amount of self-hatred as he elaborated "I was too volatile you see...I barely had a speck of humanity in me at the time and was truly more like a savage animal." he sighed "Suffice to say that they didn't consider it appropriate for an assassin to kill his targets quite as...explicitly as I did." a disgusted look entered his eyes at the memory of some of his victims. "At any rate." the Pidgeot morph continued "I was transferred to the biological weapons department, mind-control division. My job was mostly to act as a guinea pig for their mind-control devices, although sometimes they'd have me hunt runaways. Or torture people for information..." Berne suddenly shut himself up, realizing just how much he had told. Why did I tell them any of this? he thought for himself, looking nervously at his companions They will surely abandon me and how could I blame them? Who would trust a murderer...a torturer?

Slash!

Claws extended from one hand, Rine repeatedly sliced the air--blocking attacks cast by an Alakazam morph. Refusing to step back, the Sneasel morph's eyes narrowed as he focused on the collar about his opponent's neck.

"I know you're watching, Bob," Rine stated flatly. "You should know better than to send a psychic type to beat a dark type." The fighter began to prepare an icy orb of energy in his lowered hand. "So, maybe you have some trick up your sleeve . . . "

Rine suddenly crouched, allowing a blast of psy energy to strike his shoulder. Seemingly unaffected, he struck the ground, raising a cloud of dust to veil him. The Alakazam morph leaned forward slightly, glowing with energy as he studied the cloud. Suddenly, the Sneasel morph materialized behind the psychic morph, releasing his wintery blast. The Alakazam morph was instantly encased in ice.

A cold light shimmered in Rine's crimson eyes as he shoved his claws through the ice into the Alakazam morph's collar. As a spark of energy was released from the collar, the Sneasel morph stepped back and snapped his fingers. The ice surrounding the psychic morph shattered. However, the Sneasel morph did not withdraw his claws. Rather, he studied his opponent in silence.

Slowly regaining movement after being freed from the ice, the Alakazam morph grasped his broken collar and tore it from his neck. Casting the object to the ground, the Pokemorph turned to Rine. "You were the one that saved me . . . thank you," he said quietly, extending his hand as though in gratitude. However, within an instant the hand's palm had turned toward Rine and released an energy blast.

Reacting with more reflex than thought, the Sneasel morph's clawed hand slashed through the air, creating a mirror-like shield of ice. Reflecting against the barrier, the attack returned to the Alakazam morph--striking him in his chest. Undeterred, the Alakazam morph's eyes narrowed as he prepared another attack.

"So, that's how it is," Rine said quietly, studying his opponent's eyes. "If this is what you want . . . " Driving his claws into the ground, a pale light surrounded the dark morph as a pillar of ice raised itself from the ground and encased the Alakazam morph.

That won't hold for long. I'll need to get my information and get out. Casting a wary glance back at his former opponent, Rine turned toward his goal--one of Team Cipher's record offices.

"I hate mind control devices..." Jolta mummbled, glaring at the ground. One would have thought a hole might have appeared. Koji moved closer to her, but suddenly backed away as Ianto got the first.

"I really don't know what they put you through, but whatever it was, I'm sorry..." He said sincerly, causing Jolta to blush. He didn't seem to notice. "Anyways," the Meganium Morph continued, "I was a level 8 and mostly used as a Capturer. I had to sneak into peoples homes, kidnap children, steal Pokemon.... It was horrible."

"They were always trying to sell me," Blaze said. "I was an experiment. They were trying to make me evolve faster and be stronger or something, but then I could talk. Bob realised he could make a fortune off of me, so they put me up for sale. Strangely, though, nobody ever bought me."

"Jee, Blaze, I wonder why," Jolta commented sarcastically. "So, Koji, what'd you do?"

"I....I worked in the mines," Koji said, staring at the ground, "We were forced to dig up rare stones and other objects." He became silent once more. Jolta shrugged.

"Seems as though we all have our own tale to tell..." She said.

Rine's eyes narrowed. It's not here. All my sources indicated it would be, but . . . The Sneasel morph glanced behind him toward the office's window at the frozen morph outside. That's why the Alakazam morph was here. He probably teleported the files away. Tightening his grip on the file folder in his hand, Rine's fangs glinted in the dim light as he growled, "You can't hide that information from me forever, Bob." Replacing the folder in an open drawer, Rine slid the steel containment unit until it had closed.

Then, suppressing his anger, the Sneasel morph slid open the office's window and vanished.

OOC: Whoa! I almost forgot about this RP! >_< Been too busy with life and the Adoption thread...!

Anna
========

I watched Berne as he talked about his job. Something popped up in my head, a memory of Bob warning me that if I tried to escape and succeeded, then he would have to send his 'flying messenger' to deal with me. I nodded with realization, he must've been talking about Berne. Luckily, I had never met Berne back then; I might not have been so comfortable around him then.

Jolta and Ianto and then Koji each took their turns in telling their own stories. I nodded to them too. And I felt a bit better, like each of us was breaking the tension in the group by expressing our own feelings that had hardly, if ever, been shared before.

I nudged Ria, "What about you Ria?"

"Me?" Ria said, looking around, "Well, I don't know... I was always doing Bob's dirty work. I don't remember much of it though, because anything classified was erased from my memory. I hate him the most for what he did to my parents though. I- I don't really want to talk about the rest."

"That's okay," I said to her, knowing that it would be mean to push it anymore.

Suddenly, I felt this weird tingling in my body. I straightened up and my eyes actually opened a bit.

"Ah!" I said, feeling a bit embarrassed, "Sorry, I don't know what that was.... I just felt kinda funny; like I could sense something happening to the Alakazam morph I talked about earlier. He's very angry, and when psychic morphs are experiencing a lot of emotions, other psychic morphs can feel it."

I shook my head. Hopefully he wasn't hurting anyone too badly. He loved his job, and he did it quite well.

The sound of rushing water reached my ears. We had reached the river I had spoken of. After this calming sight though, the terrain would get much rougher....

((Ooc)) .....Zombie RP returns..... So, whadoyou guys say? Hello? Light? Kogenta? Alter Ego?

OOC: Raoul, you've copied that personality from Jolta. <_< *Points at dark_espeon's sign-up sheet* I'll be buggered before I let a plagiarizer into the RP.

Exhibit A (From Dark espeon's sign-up sheet):

dark_espeon said:
Personality: Jolta is a cold-hearted person who cares for none other than herself. She was betrayed by one she loved, and has formed a barrier around herself. No one has been able to make friends with Jolta. She won't let them. Jolta will not hesitate to kill. Many of the other morphs are afraid of her rough, violent nature. They won't come near her. Of course, if one did befriend her, they might find she is just a person who is mad at the world, betrayed by all.

Exhibit B (From Shadow wolf's sign-up sheet):

Shadow wolf said:

Of course, if one did befriend him, they might find he is just a person who is angry at the world, scared of everyone.

They're nearly equal! Heck, you even left a 'herself' in there for cryin' out loud! That's got to be the worst plagiarization I've ever seen. Do you honestly think that I'm so stupid or ignorant that I wouldn't notice? <_< I have a good mind to report you for this Shadow_wolf. To put it bluntly, if he's in I'm out. End of discussion.

Oh, and I'll add an IC soon. I'm just too riled up at the moment.

argh! im leaving!please dont report me! *cries*
