Well, I've always been a fan of samurai anime. Ninja Scroll, Rurouni Kenshin, you name it, I've seen it. So when I watched Samurai Champloo, I was impressed. It takes the story of classic samurai and mixes it with hip-hop elements. So, I'm pretty sure that other members of this forum like it too. So here, is a shiny new discussion thread.

    Huge fan of Samurai Champloo. I'm not good at starting conversation, so I'll let someone else do that <_<;

I'll just add that "champloo" is from a Japanese dialect and means "mix"...

Lol, I'm a fan of Samurai Champloo. It sucks that they started it over on Adult Swim, though :( Anyone think Jin is cool?

Of course we like Samurai Champloo! We've got an entire fanclub here devoted to it (and to Paranoia Agent and s-CRY-ed as well, but I'm not gonna go into that right now). It sucks that Adult Swim won't be showing new episodes until November...

Sharp like the edge of a samurai sword
The mental blade cut through flesh and bone
Though my mind's at peace, the world out of order
Missing the inner heat, life gets colder
Oh, yes, I have to find my path
No less walk on earth, water, and fire
The elements compose a magnum opus
    My modus operandi is amalgam
    Steel packed tight in microchip
On my arm a sign of all-pro
The ultimate reward is honour, not awards
At odds with the times, in wars with no lords
A freelancer, the battlecry of a hawk
Make a dove fly and a tear dry
Wonder why a lone wolf don't run with a clan
Only trust your instincts and be one with the plan
    Some days, some nights
Some live, some die in the name of the samurai
    Some fight, some bleed
Sun up to sun down the sons of a battlecry
    Some days, some nights
Some live, some die in the name of the samurai
    Some fight, some bleed
Sun up to sun down the sons of a battlecry
    Battlecry

Me likes Mugen. Jin is like me, quiet and laid back, but I like Mugen best. Any Foo fans?

Battlecry is a very well-written song, Jack, thanks for sharing the lyrics with people who don't know them.

Mugen has to be my favorite......I think it's because he reminds me so much of Spike Speigel (and not because they're both voiced by Steven Jay Blum.) I'm also definitely a Fuu fan, to answer your question, Inome. She's one of the more amusing women I've seen on any of the animes I watch.

I've seen every episode except I think the second. I missed it both times it aired o.O

I haven't missed a single episode of Samurai Champloo ever since it first aired. The episode where Mugen got high was one of my favourites. And yes, Fuu's funny.

I was greatly amused that the warrior-priests referred to the plant as "holy grass"...classic moment.

[/I]That's my anime right there I love Samurai Champloo. I record almost every Saturday but I have missed a few episodes lately. My favorite would have to be Mugen cause he is like a breaker samurai with moves and Jin too cause he's smart and calm.

Its not bad, but i prefer other samurai shows much better. Its a cool idea, with the hip-hop and stuff, but it never really appealed to me. I'll watch it if nothing else is on, with Fuu being my fav.

The downside of that is we're going to know everything that happens in the manga beforehand, and even the most beautiful art in there won't be able to compare with the anime, unless, that is, they still have enough in their creativity arsenal to give us an entirely different storyline in the manga, but that's unlikely.
