First of all, I'm playing on an emulator. I had the original version (ruby, actually), but I lost it playing football.

Anyway, I started a new game, and it said the internal battery had run dry, clock events wouldn't happen, etc. I figured this would affect time of day, so I googled it and solved the problem in about ten seconds.

However, even though I no longer get that error, my game always seems to be in day. I tried starting a new game with the clock set to 10 pm or so, and it still looked like day after I left the house and walked to the nearest town.

Can anybody give me any help? What are the boundaries for time of day anyway (as in, what time it turns to night, etc.). I'll edit this post later in the day to see if it's changed at all (although I'm worried that because I started my further file while it had no clock-based events, it might never have clock-based events. Is that the case?)

oh.. what are the boundaries for the times? Does night start at 6:00 or something? Help please.

Doesn't the screen usually change? I'm pretty sure it used to for me..

Day: 12 PM to 11:59 PM
Night: 12 AM to 11:59 AM

Unusual, but that's at least how it works (according to the evolutions of Eevee into Espeon and Umbreon, respectively, if that makes sense).

Only in Gens II (GSC) and IV (DP). It never changes in III.

Yeah. I hated how it was always day in RSE. So unnatural. Nighttime is funny!

Ah yes, but implementing both day and night would make the Rom size alot bigger. I reckon you're right about the unnatural nature of it though. Now I bring out my Umbreon to toxic everything, mwaah!.

Maybe using the berry patch (it makes changes to the clock) will patch up Night and Day, just use VBA-link to trade with Pokemon Emerald.
