Saving Celebi [14+]

Ambrose stopped, hearing a different voice than Cobalt. He turned his head.

"So you just plan to leave a baby all on its own! I was right about you!" the small flower creature who had just previously sleeping shouted in a restrained, weak tone.

Ambrose said nothing as Cobalt finally responded.

"I.... I wouldn't hurt it! I never would! But.... I see your point. You don't want to have to look after me, but I don't need looking after! And you don't want to keep the baby? What do you want to do with it?" The dog said as he then lay on the ground with whimpering puppy eyes.

Ambrose tilted his head down in thought. What was he going to do with this thing? If he didn't abandon it now, it would follow him in desperate attempt to stay with its father. But he couldn't just leave it anywhere, less he have to deal with the thought that a Mightyena got it and ripped it to shreds, the whole ordeal being his fault. But wasn't that going to happen anyway? It was in the Mightyena camp, so if it was of a different species, they were probably planning to snack on it. What would change besides Ambrose delaying its demise? Well, now, it would be his fault, because he has the chance to save it and raise it as his own. Groan....

But what did he care? It wasn't actually his kid. The only thing that might be problematic if he abandoned it is these dunces finding a corpse and telling the village, something that could easily be persuaded otherwise. But.... is he really that heartless?

"I- I don't know," Ambrose said, letting lose some desperation. He gathered himself a bit and faced the pooch and living flower again. "What, you think you could be its big brother or something?"

((OOC: Seeing as I seemed to have missed quite a bit I'm just going to say Nova kept going so I don't have to go through catching up with all that happened... Yes, I'm lazy, I know.))

It had been some time since Nova had left the others and still she hadn't stopped, not even when the sound of an Uproar echoed through the forest. It was none of her concern so why bother?

Coming across a small grove of pecha berry trees the Absol decided to rest and give the others a chance to catch up. By using Swift Nova was able to cut down a few berries and she sat beneath a tree to eat the sweet fruit. Another Uproar reached her ears and she wondered if maybe it had been a mistake to leave the others. Shrugging it off, she curled up to sleep until the others came.

"So you just plan to leave a baby all on its own! I was right about you!" Ame, who had just previously sleeping shouted in a restrained, weak tone. Cobalt looked at her. Was she feeling alright?

"I- I don't know," Ambrose said, sounding pretty desperate. He turned to face Cobalt and Amethyst again. "What, you think you could be its big brother or something?"

Cobalt looked at Ame first. Her well being was more important than the chat he was having with Ambrose Flannigan.
"Are you alright? You're not too hurt, are you?" he asked, concerned that maybe the Mightyena had caused more damage than he thought. He turned back to Ambrose Flannigan and thought a bit before answering.

"I... I'm not sure. I've helped look after the pups back home, but never with something like this. I mean, I know a lot about taking care of kids, but I've never actually had to take care of one without an experinced Denmother or two around. Still, you can't just abandon it in the woods!" Cobalt said at last. He looked back at Ame to see what she thought about all this. He didn't know what to do or say. He was out of his depth with this situation, and he knew it.

As I floated on the river that was taking me towards the waterfall, I suddenly realised something. Well, I didn't actually realise, because I already knew that. Let's just say a thought came to my mind, a thought that reminded me of humans living in that Mauville place. I had to be careful. Extra careful. The last time I had been there they had mistaken me for a kid, but I didn't know if they'd think like that again. Either I'd be able to walk past them like last time, or I would suffer my mother's fate. Tears tried to come to my eyes, but I managed to fend them off.

The river took me closer and closer to the waterfall. I knew exactly what I had to do. As soon as the waterfall was just inches away from me, I had to jump forward and dive just like I do every morning when I take my bath at the pond. But I couldn't concentrate on jumping, the thought of being cuaght my a human invaded my mind and when I could finally go back to reality, the waterfall was behind me. And I was falling. Oh, dammit.

Amethyst smiled a little as Ambrose replied to what she yelled. "I- I don't know," Ambrose said, sounding pretty desperate. He turned to face Cobalt and Amethyst again. "What, you think you could be its big brother or something?"

Cobalt looked at her as well most likely trying to se eif she was hurt worse than she had been. "Are you alright? You're not too hurt, are you?" Cobalt said concern in his tone.

"I'm Fine" She replied weakly trying to stand "With a few Oran Berries and the Move Synthesis I should be fine" she added seeing him looking at Ambrose in deep thought.

"I... I'm not sure. I've helped look after the pups back home, but never with something like this. I mean, I know a lot about taking care of kids, but I've never actually had to take care of one without an experinced Denmother or two around. Still, you can't just abandon it in the woods!" he said after awhile and Ame smiled.

"As long as you take care of it's needs it's not hard to take care of a baby, but still Ambrose. A little help's not a bad thing."

Cobalt seemed to ignore Ambrose's question to concern himself with the Roselia. He felt a bit brushed off, but, this dog seemed promising. If he decided to let the dog help, he could surely distract it and take care of it while Ambrose sought out where to put it with a different family. But then again, the blasted thing would still follow Ambrose. Ugh.... what to do?

"I... I'm not sure. I've helped look after the pups back home, but never with something like this. I mean, I know a lot about taking care of kids, but I've never actually had to take care of one without an experienced Denmother or two around. Still, you can't just abandon it in the woods!" Cobalt said finally answering the question.

Oh yes he could. But, the thing had his scent. It would be able to track them out and pop up again later. Why was this egg being so determined to make Ambrose its father?

"As long as you take care of its needs it's not hard to take care of a baby, but still Ambrose. A little help's not a bad thing." said the rose-handed green plant.

He opened his mouth and closed it again. He thought about what he was about to say once more and eventually came out with it.

"Well, consider me your Denfather or something." Ambrose hoisted the egg to position it to his shoulder. It tilted; making sure it was still on Ambrose a little. Freaking thing. "If you want to help me find a good family to put this tyke in and continue to help Celebi, then feel free to follow me. But, here are the rules. One. No criticizing my parenting. Two. You will follow my lead at all times. Three. You do not touch this egg until it hatches. I don't want any more scents sticking to it."

The egg grew warmer as he said it. Probably was grateful that he was being protective of it. Oh, shut it. Ambrose turned around and continued walking, indifferent if the two would follow him or not. He could handle an egg on his own anyway.

"Well, consider me your Denfather or something." Ambrose Flannigan said as he hoisted the egg to position it to his shoulder, "If you want to help me find a good family to put this tyke in and continue to help Celebi, then feel free to follow me. But, here are the rules. One. No criticizing my parenting. Two. You will follow my lead at all times. Three. You do not touch this egg until it hatches. I don't want any more scents sticking to it."

Cobalt knew he would not be able to follow rules 1 and 2 that well. But he would try. But one thing still bothered him.
"Um... There is no such thing as a Denfather in any of the packs I've ever heard of. Caring for the pups is the responsibliity of all the mothers. They put all their pups together, and with more of them looking after the pups, the easier it is. The males are the ones that do all the hunting and stuff. That's why earlier you were mobbed by only the males. The only reason I learned this stuff is because I was the only pup that survived when we all got sick. I was too old to just throw in a new litter, but to young to teach to hunt," Cobalt said as he followed Ambrose Flannigan. Ok, two things were bothering him.
"What's a tyke?" he asked. It slipped his mind that Ame was still on his back and might not want to go this way as he walked along behind the Spinda.

(OOC: Just to let everyone know, when they deal with Cobalt, anything with more than two or three syllables is likely get get you a What does that word mean?)

Finally, I was underwater again. My twig was gone, but I was lucky not to have my face flat against one of the rocks at the bottom. But I was more worried about being caught after leaving the river, or because I was dizzy and curled up while the current kept dragging me. Luckily it took me to a small beach where I could walk again without being at some river's mercy.

Soon I was able to see better and got up. My coat was all sandy, and I wiped as many grains as I could off it. Dammit, this wouldn't have happened if night was here. I thought, but I was only blaming the sun who was just drying my soaked coat, and I knew it wasn't its fault. I shook my head and found a twig on the sand. Almost immediately I picked it up and put it back on my mouth. Good. No sand on it.

The human city of Mauville was before my eyes. The streets were crowded, and I was even more unsure that I'd be able to walk by them without being spotted. I had to find another way. I put my hands in the pockets of my still soaked coat and moved along. But I was forced to hide in an alley when I saw a human looking directly at me. I found myself unable to leave that alley, and if I didn't move I wouldn't find Regirock. As I repeatedly asked myslef what to do, I spotted a garbage bin. Jackpot.

Riz raised an eyebrow at Daiyu. She raised hers back and looked at him, but it was more in a nervous manner than anything else. I'm never saying that stupid phrase again. It was pretty moronic, to say the least.

"Eat. I can tell you need it, Daiyu," Riz said, putting Oran and Pinap berries directly into her hand. He pat her lightly on the head, and she just sort of glanced up at him with a what was that for? look. Remembering that what the older mouse had wanted was for her to eat, she nibbled an Oran berry.

There was some arguing coming from Ambrose Flannigan and Cobalt, but Daiyu didn't really care to listen in until she finished eating. After she gobbled up the remains of fruit in her hand, she turned and watched the others. She chuckled childishly.

"You guys are havin' a family?" she seemed to ask more to herself than them, as they were already walking off. Daiyu didn't expect an answer from Mr. Superior over there. "How adorable," she added in sarcastically, albeit she was still smiling.

Daiyu eyed the omelet that the black and white Spinda had on his shoulder. It wriggled and moved so much, so it was obviously close to hatching soon. If everything bothered him so much, would he be capable of handling a little puppy following him around and spitting up on him?

Daiyu returned her attention to Riz. "Looks like we're on our own, pal." She stretched her arms up and lied back on the grass, squinting her eyes at the cloudy, yet bright sky above.

Amethyst looked at Ambrose listening to what he said "I'll go along with you. But just saying now if anything you lead us into cause others to be put in danger I won't go along with that" she said still sounding weak. Sighing a little she jumped off Cobalt's back standing dizzily luckily in a patch of light. She closed her eyes and glowed a little as her small body adsorbed the suns rays. This went on for a minute or two before it stopped and she smiled "There much better"

"What's a tyke?" Cobalt's voice caught her attention.

"A Tyke is another word for kid but smaller" She said to him walking over. "It doesn't seem you caught my name Ambrose. I'm Amethyst but feel free to call me Ame" she said extending the hand with the pink flower to him.

Ambrose ignored the useless blathering Cobalt seemed to be going on about how a "Denfather" doesn't make sense and something the plant was saying it being one of those "If we ever fall into danger because you...." precautionary speeches. Ambrose rolled his eyes and continued to walk.

"What's a tyke?" the clueless puppy said.

Ready to answer, Ambrose raised his hand and pulled out one of his fingers to explain.

"A Tyke is another word for kid but smaller," said the Roselia, rushing towards them, apparently having gotten off Cobalt and restored herself. Ambrose lowered his finger and found himself dumbstruck for a moment. Not the best definition, but It'd have to do. Like Ambrose cared, anyway. He lowered his arm again and sported his usual face as the plant jumped in front of him, pulling out her hand with the pink rose.

"It doesn't seem you caught my name, Ambrose. I'm Amethyst but feel free to call me Ame," she said with a smile on her face.

Ambrose raised his free hand shook the rose. "I suppose it's nice to meet your acquaintance, Amethyst. Ambrose Flannigan is my full name."

He walked right past the Roselia after letting go of her hand. No need for more dilly dallying. He was already behind schedule for getting back to "Fortree" thanks to the Mightyena camp.

He wasn't quite sure where he was anymore. All the confusion he gone through made him clueless to where he was. Crap.

"Dog." He said to Cobalt coldly. "Smell our way to Fortree."

The egg twitched as he said that. He looked at it. "What do you want?" he thought.

I took a look inside the garbage bin. Luckily for me, it was empty, so I didn't have to waste my time taking bags out of the can. Anyway, five seconds later I was carrying the bin, which covered my face, through the human city. People stopped to look at me, but my coat pretty much deceived them and I was able to walk without worries, or at least I thought so. The streets were awfully crowded, and I had to be careful to watch where I was going, as the humans didn't seem to do that. And if I dropped the bin, I would blow my cover and would probably end up inside those red round objects.

I was halfway there. The river ride was very fast and I reached the human city in relatively no time. But Mauville was big, and it was like a maze. All the time I had gained because of the current was gonna be lost here, I just knew it. Luckily I had been there before, and could remember the way to the desert quite well, so I wouldn't lose too much of that time. Like I said, backtracking is my forte. But I'm pretty sure any other Pokémon who hadn't been there before would end up trapped in this big city for the rest of their lives.

Then I noticed something was in my way, and I was about to trip over because of it. I managed to dodge it, but I dropped the bin. My heart was racing, and I found no alleyway to hide in. My cover was blown, and I was right in the center of the city. I desperately looked around, trying to find my way, but the tall buildings blocked my sight. Humans kept passing by, and the fear of getting caught inside those red balls wasn't letting me think. I was petrified.

"Dog." Ambrose said to Cobalt. "Smell our way to Fortree."

Cobalt looked around. He didn't even need his nose! They were very close to Fotree City! He had played in this area before he moved to the village! Of course, if he had known back then that he was so close to the pack of Mightyena, he never would have played here, but what could he do now?

"I know this place! I used to live in Fortree! I came here to play with the Wurmple all the time! Fortree is this way! Follow me!" Cobalt said. He began to lead the way to Fortree, taking them down a short cut he had used many times to get back to his nest before it got too dark to see. They would be there very fast! But not too fast. Maybe haf an hour or so. Of course, Cobalt had no definition in his vocabulary for the units of time. To him, it was either a long time or not.

"I know this place! I used to live in Fortree! I came here to play with the Wurmple all the time! Fortree is this way! Follow me!"

The hyena creature trotted with a happy tune in his step as he turned and went down an obscure route near then. Ambrose exchanged glances with Amethyst. Did he really trust this dog enough? He couldn't even put a definite label on the monster inside the egg. He shrugged.

"Let's follow him, then." He said to the Roselia.

The egg started to warm up very rapidly now as they walked. Anticipation? Does this egg know everything that's going around it?

"....ep." An extremely light sound pushed through the air. The noise came from all directions. He looked at Amethyst, who seemed unaffected by the noise. D- did she even hear it?

The egg warmed up even hotter now, almost burning Ambrose's hands but enough for him to bear. No, no. The sound isn't coming from the egg. Besides, if they egg did make a sound, Amethyst would've heard it too.

Ambrose struggled and continued to walk. Cobalt was quite ahead of them, doing a little dance as he walked. Ambrose and the Roselia remained silent, not wanting to talk to each other for some reason.

Ambrose felt a tingling in his nose. Spinda weren't much of sniffers, so he didn't think it was anything coming from his baser nature, which rarely happened anyway. The tingling got more intense. W- wha- wha-

"Achoo!"

Oh, just a sneeze. False alarm.

"....ey!" said the sound from before. Again, coming from no specific location. Ambrose looked at the Roselia next to him with a stern expression.

"Are you screwing with me?" he interrogated.

Cobalt seemed to stop upon hearing Ambrose's voice while the Roselia jumped back a little from the comment.

(OCC: Amethyst and Cobalt are not hearing the same noise. :3)

"I know this place! I used to live in Fortree! I came here to play with the Wurmple all the time! Fortree is this way! Follow me!" Cobalt said excitedly and went off happily.

Let's follow him, then." Ambrose said and the two started walking and not long after he glanced at her sneezing a few moments later.

Amethyst tilted her head following Cobalt "Bless you" She said when Ambrose sneezed but her smile turned to a frown soon after.

"Are you screwing with me?" Ambrose accused her.

Amethyst stopped and looked at him eyes narrowed. "I'm not doing anything, and if your hearing something it's not coming from me. So don't you Dare accuse me of something I don't hear anything so your probably just imagining it" she said before turning away and walking after Cobalt leaving Ambrose standing there.

(OOC: hehe Amethyst doesn't like Ambrose and for the moment she doesn't hear anything.)

(OOC: Cobalt has a great nose. His ears leave much to be desired. He is hearing nothing.)

Cobalt was happily walking down the path toward his old nest. He remembered it quite well. He was unconcerned by the growing silence behind him. Nothing said it had to be noisy all the time! He smiled at the thought of seeing all the new places they were going to see, and began prancing about. He didn't even realize he was doing it. Then, he heard Ambrose Flannigan say something.

"Are you screwing with me?" he asked Ame. Cobalt turned around and walked back to them.

"I'm not doing anything, and if your hearing something it's not coming from me. So don't you Dare accuse me of something I don't hear anything so your probably just imagining it" Ame said before turning away and walking toward Cobalt.

"What's going on, Ambrose Flannigan? Everything alright back here?" Cobalt asked, concerned for his friends. He looked from the Spinda to the Roselia and back again.

"I'm not doing anything, and if you're hearing something it's not coming from me. So don't you dare accuse me of something! I don't hear anything so you're probably just imagining it," The rose-handed fiend replied.

She had the guts to walk away, leaving Ambrose standing there.

"That sure sounds oddly specific for someone who's not screwing with me," he retorted. "I didn't even say it was a sound! I could've been anything! But try to convince me that it's not suspicious for you to pinpoint the source of my concern correctly on the first try." he said with a growl playing at low pitch under his voice.

"....epp."

That blasted sound again. Ambrose felt like he was going crazy. It didn't change in tone or move with the Roselia, so it wasn't her. The egg was blazing hot now. It couldn't be.... is it crying at me with telepathy or something similar?

He stared oddly at the egg; stretching his arms out to look at it from afar.

"What's going on, Ambrose Flannigan? Everything alright back here?" Cobalt said, now being generally close to Ambrose. The small bear walked over to Cobalt.

"I'm hearing faint shrieks. No one else is hearing it, but I can hear it quite clearly. I'm thinking it's coming from the future Flannigan." Ambrose paused and was surprised.

The future Flannigan? Where did that come from? He quickly regained himself.

"Dog." He asserted. "What's happening to me?"

(OCC: BTW, if anyone was wondering, the egg is NOT hatching now. Just pointing that out. I'm waiting for //ANDthen's reply to see if what I wanted it to hatch into is still entact or if I'm going to have to change it. X3;)

"That sure sounds oddly specific for someone who's not screwing with me," he retorted. "I didn't even say it was a sound! I could've been anything! But try to convince me that it's not suspicious for you to pinpoint the source of my concern correctly on the first try." Ambrose said and Amethyst heard a growl in his voice.

Turning around eyes blazing (not literally lol) she growled back "Lets see. It was silent and you glanced at me. I could tell from your facial expression you heard something. I can read people Ambrose and I've read you. You are nothing but an inconsiderate jerk who will stop at nothing to put others down. I can't stand pokemon like you." Taking a deep breath she didn't look away from him "In case your wondering now the only reason I'm traveling with you is to make sure you don't treat Cobalt or the baby Pokemon badly or get either of them killed"

"I'm hearing faint shrieks. No one else is hearing it, but I can hear it quite clearing. I'm thinking it's coming from the future Flannigan." Ambrose said to Cobalt looking shocked which made an Amused look come onto Amethyst's face but anyone could tell she was still angry. "Dog." He asserted. "What's happening to me?"

Amethyst growled more "It seems you actually care for the egg maybe you should treat others better to! Like not calling Cobalt dog."

(OOC: just gonna say it now. This post was fun to write :) )

I was horrified. My brain was being invaded by the sight of my mother being captured by that human. I had to get out of there, and I had to do it fast. But I was unable to think. I just couldn't. I was too scared to move...or use my brain. I was about to have a panic attack, when a thought that finally allowed me to move came into my green head. If I keep standing here like a statue, it will be easier for humans to capture me...

My brain cells started working again and soon I knew where I was and which way I had to go. There was no time to lose, I had to run. And I did. Humans started looking at me in a weird way, but the didn't seem to intend to catch me. But that didn't matter. I wasn't going to take that risk. And so I kept running on the streets of the crowded human city, moving my arms frantically as I kept on dodging humans who looked surprised.

Come on! This city has no end!

"I'm hearing faint shrieks. No one else is hearing it, but I can hear it quite clearing. I'm thinking it's coming from the future Flannigan. Dog." Ambrose Flannigan said, "What's happening to me?"

"I don't know? Is it coming from the egg?" Cobalt asked excitedly. Maybe the egg was hatching! He wanted to touch it, but that would break rule 3, so he held himself back. This was all very interesting!

Amethyst growled at the Spinda. "It seems you actually care for the egg. Maybe you should treat others better too! Like not calling Cobalt Dog."

That one went way over his head. But, he was a dog! How was that bad?
"But... I am a dog. I don't get how that is bad. You guy are strange," Cobalt said. He honestly didn't get it. What was going on here?
